I don't shave my balls. Don't want to bleed.
Manscaped for your dad? Just creepy!!
John has a missing pixel just above the right (his left) eyelid towards his nose, now you have seen it, your welcome!
Seriously?
I work in a multi brand service shop.
I have in the last 12 months serviced probably six various MG models and must say pleasantly surprised with what I've experienced.
Admittedly low Klm vehicles but yeah not too shabby at all.
Basic technology helps a lot less electonic crap to go wrong
From the towing scene. We do all the towing for our local MG dealership, have towed very few new MG vehicles so far.
Audi and Volkswagen, I can wander through the workshop and the service department blindfolded, I'm that familiar with it.
That's interesting mate.
Because, of course, the numbers on the road are comparable!
@@merkeynerk Well I don't know about that but it would seem the numbers off the road certainly aren't ;)
I'm a Towie also. Got one for me mum. No probs. People don't know the secret about the staff servicing cars lol. When you go into a dealership, over and over, and everyone from the ground up to management drop their shoulders on delivery(and thats not telling what they say)...lol...
The Euro attempt to go lite over the last 30 years was a complete failure lol. They never resolved their temp balance problems for Oz, change of season and they drop their guts haha. I was teaching the merc tech's how to remove their cars from gear lock when they released the A series. They couldn't keep up with the changes...
Resale is zero
Hello John. We bought an MG ZS in April last year to replace a KIA written off due to storm damage. Suited our needs at a lot less money than a similar KIA or Hyundai, which was a real consideration (retired on a fixed income). So far so good. Well finished, very comfortable and economical Lots of them in the Blue Mountains now.
I went looking for a used car and they were wanting $20 000 for an 8 yo Mazda, so I went to the MG store and bought one for $32000 on road with a 7 year roadside assist warrantee, and its more fun to drive than my old CX5.
Are you still enjoying your car, I to was looking at a Mazda but they're expensive.
Bring on the review. Always interested in your take on such things.
Very keen to hear about it; Would also be curious about the pure EV MG, Especially with the BYD ATTO 3 appearing on the market.
I bought a new MG5 exclusive LR back in May, 15000 miles later I can't fault it. Previous cars are jags, Saab's and mitsubishi. Yes, it's a step down in quality but the value is outstanding. It's exactly what it says on the tin. Very impressed
24,000km?
@@billparts8543 yep, I do about 200 miles a day, 5 days a week
You've gotta laugh at people paying $$$$ for what they THINK is an MG...........it's a crappy CHINESE car company that bought the MG badge!!!!!
What a bunch of delusional fools!!!!!!!!!!
An friend that I have known for over 50 years {Ex Air Force) recently bought one in Perth. Earlier this year he found it necessary to travel back to the east coast and up to SE Qld and return. He had a trouble-free and extremely economic trip having called in to visit with us (Central West NSW) on his way over from the west and again on his way back to the west. He has nothing but praise for the car and only paid about 14K for it. It seems to be getting to be a very popular vehicle out here in the Central West of NSW as we see quite a few of them on the road and in Parkes and Forbes.
Bloody everywhere in Dubbo. Boomers must be falling for the MG nostalgia.
14K?is that a New car?
I just drove one from the Goldcoast to Forbes and it was a perfect car for what we wanted
Would definitely love to see the review video! Your old car review videos were by far the best on You Tube for Australian buyers.
My daughter bought a brand new MG ZS earlier this year. I had read the reports and they seemed to be a reasonable car if not exciting. I went with her for a test drive and was pleasantly surprised - it was comfy, spacious and drove well. It is not going to excite you but my daughter was not worried about that. She bought it for $21,990 driveaway and it has been faultless. She loves it and does everything really well. I can see why they have sold so well - with a 7 year warranty, if it goes wrong it will be fixed, offers good value for money and for the average driver is good
Good one thinking a Chinese car will be fixed in six years into warranty with atego in charge of importing. They will fix it, but it will take months
Agreed. Chinese cars are the new Japanese cars of the 80s.
Look out of Ming Guang.
@@Low760 people said the same about Hyundai years ago but they were good on their word. I think in 5 years time they will be held in the same regard as Hyundai / Kia / Toyota
@@seanmorgan4099 I doubt that Hyundai/Kia/Toyota standards will drop anywhere near MG levels over the next 5 years!! LOL
The EV version is very exciting
I've had 2 MG's both made in Thailand an MG 3 and my current 2 litre turbo GS. They've both been brilliant, trouble free and fantastic service.
My sister-in-law bought one just before the 2021 lockdown. So far, she's very happy with it.
Yes I would like to see some more car reviews they are so entertaining and informative. Did you do a review on that Kia EV you struggled to find a charging points for earlier this year?
I work for a dealer with 4 brands under the same umbrella: MG, Kia, Nissan and VW. Honestly our warranty claim rate on brand new MG is the lowest rate despite the sales number of MG brand new is the highest. Very happy to work for MG brand in New Zealand so far.
Love you, Jerry. Just put down a deposit on a black ZST Excite here in Perth and I'll be watching a couple of your videos over several times while waiting for it to arrive.
@@Venturai thanks for the comment! Glad my video has helped you:) all the best
Mum bought a brand new MG3 in June when her 30 year old Corolla packed it in just before a rare planned trip. The purchase was painless, fixed price $18490 and took less than an hour, car was in stock. She’s very happy but notes: fuel economy not much better than the old Seca CSI; shifts into top gear a bit early and appears to lug a bit; no left footrest.
I’m may be a bit odd but I prefer not having a footrest as I have long legs. I’ve removed them from vehicles in the past to give more leg room.
@@alistairtaylor4989 fair point! The foot rest thing stands out for mum because she is short and her previous 1993 Corolla had one. By the way the handbook in the Corolla shows she paid $19,000 for it 29 years ago, about the same as the MG3 price today.
@@jashugg That’s amazing with inflation. I sincerely hope she enjoys her MG as much or more than I’m sure she did with the Corolla. Cheers, James.
Isn’t this the Hyundai Excel X3 playbook? Build a whole pile of cars, sell them for cheap, solve every issue (of which there are many) quickly and quietly, soak up market share, develop actually good cars.
In typical China style, they’ve just achieved the same thing on a condensed timeframe.
Still see the odd one around too. Bogan cheap transport. They did stand the test of time pretty well.
Essentially but there isn’t anything wrong with that as long as you don’t expect the world for what you pay for
It seems that in Queensland at least the car hire companies have gone bananas for MG. I recently booked a "small SUV" in Cairns/Port Douglas and ended up with the little 1.5 litre model. I would call it the LS model (less shit). Very pleasantly surprised. Drove it for about 600kms and I would certainly recommend it as a first car especially with that 7 year warranty. At $23k drive away it would be hard to beat. Incidentally John I recently took delivery of a Santa Fe Highlander diesel partly on your recommendation and I am absolutely wrapped with it. Performance, comfort, tech, safety, economy it has the lot. Keep up the good work and MALS !!
I also had one late last year as a loaner after an accident. I must say I wasn't quite as impressed. Several of the interior mouldings rattled, and it was somewhat anaemic on acceleration unless you really planted your foot. That said, when I looked up the price my distaste was tempered somewhat (I'd imagined it was closer to $30k on road than it's actual $23k). Maybe I had a dud / it had more km's on it / or mistreated - although I'm sure everyone treats their loaners with kid gloves don't they?
Ultimately I ended up going for a Kia Cerato post settlement, and haven't (yet) regretted spending the extra.
We have three as work cars not bad car. A little gutless on the Bruce.
Got the one im driving now through Europcar. Im in Perth and the hotel im at is like an MG Show n Shine. They are everywhere. Curious to see the sales figures minus rental company purchases.
Same on the Sunny coast
Same factory as LDV Maxus I believe and after a few teething issues (minor) with my LDV D90 our family really do enjoy this vehicle after owning a Kia Sorento which only 12 years ago were probably in the same boat
The MG experience is very much down to the dealer you choose.
I bought the ZS ev about 18 months ago, and for the most part, the car has been pretty good. But when things have gone wrong, the local dealer has been well below par. They claim its because their service department is very busy (it does share with VW, so that may be true) but I've had to have it recovered twice now, and both times it's sat behind the forecourt for around a month before they even have a look at it (and no, that dealer doesnt give you a hire car, so sort out your own transport for work). The first time they just scratched their heads and sent it back to me. The 2nd time, they actually replaced the charge controller, and it's been fine since.
Oh yeah, whilst it was in the 2nd time, they phoned to say the brake system was "dangerously corroded". There was sod all wrong with it apart from the usual surface oxidation you get when you leave a car sitting for weeks during the Scottish rainy season 🤔
A lot of those hold ups are the dealers making warranty claims back on the parent company, the dealer won't open the bonnet unless they are guaranteed to be paid by someone.
Thanks for sharing a fresh blow of air amongst all the paid and pondy opinion writers. I am not saying Mr John is biased but it clearly shows that he takes some pride in getting a call from some PR douche from MG. Whatever, if it's too good to be true, it sometimes is.
I quite like the MG3 I've been driving. It's simple, but gets me where I need to go. Will be interesting to see how it holds up in the next few years.
Definitely interested in your report. Partially because a new car is a possibility in the near future, but also because I'm interested in the general automotive landscape and it's interesting to see what they've done, especially in comparison to a 'mainstream' offering in the Eclipse.
I’d be interested to see your report on the MG, not that I’m looking at buying. Love your reports n reviews.. 🍻
Hi John I've owned MG HS since November 2021 and regularly charge off my solar. I'm doing about 2.1 liters per 100km for a total of 13000 kms. This includes driving Sydney to Melbourne and Sydney to Gold Coast. I'm very happy with the performance and economy.
I'm not yet sold but they are certainly a brand I'd "give a go" the dealership that we take my partners Tuscan for logbook servicing also sell them and they've been great to deal with. They did more than was quoted and didn't push the upsells very hard at all and the upsells they offered (aside from the cabin pollen filter) were priced low enough that I actually went with it. Something like 50 bucks for 3 brand new wipers installed. They even called 2 weeks later to make sure everything was ok and they didn't miss anything. I had a good chat to one of the mechanics and he said he was genuinely suprised at the support from the brand in terms of parts and schematics and that they were similar to Hyundai in terms of honouring warranty and slightly ahead of Mitsubishi which they also sold. Apparently they are also relatively easy to work on which is a plus for me because I drive my cars into the ground and as soon as they're old enough to not expect much coverage under consumer law I'm doing most of the work myself.
I hope they make a cheap and plastic EV with close to 200K range as I have my shitbox patrol for long trips or trips abusing the car through the bush or on my mums farm but I'm not a fan of driving it short distances because the thing is so bloody expensive to keep alive and to fuel. It's also terrible on emissions and whilst I like the smell of diesel fumes and soot being already poisoned and half dead from work in heavy industry I really don't want to subject children and cyclists to that in the city.
Im a bit like you mate, i maintain my own - but the new BYD electric cars i think are going to take off in a big way, and they are almost at a price i could swallow.
If only more people were as honest as you John. I look forward to the MG review. Keep on doing you 👍🏽👍🏽
I recently made this exact choice; MG HS EV, Eclipse Cross PHEV, Audi Q3 Sportback, VW Tiguan RLine, RAV4 Hybrid.
Would make the choice based on test drives and after some research.
VW - was like unobtainium with an 18 month wait list - crossed off the list.
RAV4 - same as VW not worth the wait - crossed off the list.
Audi - strange issue with options missing due to parts shortage - concerned about resale value as discounts didn't match the loss of features - test drive was underwhelming.
MG - research showed mixed reviews, car is good but electronics are sub-par and this was an issue considering AC was controlled via infotainment, test drive never happened, dealership had the car but the test car was filthy and the battery was flat. Did not fill us with confidence.
Mitsu - whilst the car looks new on the outside, the internals look last-gen, but beyond that the drive train was impressive. Research showed some worries about battery life.
In the end decided the extra $9000 was worth it. Bought the Eclipse Cross Exceed Phev and loving it.
Thanks John, Was driving home behind another MG yesterday thinking, there are so many on the road and I wonder what they are like. Maybe I should ask John for his opinion - you being someone that doesn't hold back. Appreciate the video and look forward to your vehicle review. Totally believe in your value equation having dealt with China over the years and seen how big SAIC is. Was in Electic Taxis there in 2018 that were decent.
Hi John, great video as always. I have a HS PHEV, now called Plus EV...love it. Please do share your review on it!
Keen to hear your view of the MG EV John, great work as always.
My wife and I bought an MG ZS 1.0 turbo model nearly 2 years ago ( against your recommendations I know). But we couldn’t find a 2nd hand Ute for $25K, under 100 years old & < 1M klms, you get the drift I’m sure.
My wife suggested an MG, right price and long warranty. 30+000ks and almost 2yrs of problem free and (6.2lt/100) cheap motoring. Great stereo, lowish service costs, excellent visibility & pretty darn comfy. No complaints here.
Love your work John 😃
6.2L/100km is woeful for a 1.0L...
@@steveking6506 it's an SUV lol. that's just reality
@@steveking6506 really? I'm getting 9.2L lifetime average from my Citroen 1.2.
Both my 2.0L and 1.6T average high 6 to low 7 per hundred and would have a decent amount more power and refinement (let's not even mention the longevity).
That to me is just how it is.
If you want/need an SUV (so few people NEED an SUV) then pay for dragging around an additional tonne for naught.
Meh.
@@steveking6506 I just drove one 3000 KMs and it's the cheapest on fuel out of all the cars I've ever driven
I’m 100% interested in the MG report! I’m not in the market personally, but I know a couple of people that are looking at a reasonably priced new car that I might be able to direct to them.
MY report please. Was never a fan until recently, good price here in nz. Good support, and 7year warranty is a real big plus!
Do a test drive and put the air-con on full. Mine cant even cope with a British summer but I believe some models use a different AC unit.
We've been happy with the MG ZS EV since purchase nearly 2 years ago. Not the most refined and definitely not glamorous but does the job.
Purchased a 2020 HS Essence in August 2020 - completed 35000 trouble free kilometres. My only issue was a flat battery last week. Road side assist arrived to my semi rural home in an hour diagnosed a faulty battery - replaced with a new battery under warranty on the spot. Ive had new cars every 2 years for the past 40 years the MG is at least equal to any of those - im very happy
I bought an mg zs 1.5 MT last march 1st,2024. It runs well, it's somewhat fuel efficient in my opinion compared to 'other' cars I've driven. It runs well on the highway, ample power for overtaking but not the fastest vehicle out there. Simply put, just gets the job done. Nothing special about it. For me, this sub compact SUV is a keeper. I can make it run for a long while like our toyota avanza 2009 model.
G’day John, would be very keen to watch your reviews on the flood of Chinese EVs about to hit the Oz market, really enjoy the show, cheers.
Looking forward to the MG4 coming very soon.
You make good points about the need for substantial volume sales to justify the support infrastructure we would all want. I am also interested in the extent that any "new" manufacturer has learnt the lessons that mean their cars will survive for more than a few years before rust takes over. Not saying Chinese cars are rubbish but I would like to see evidence that they will survive as well as the makes I am currently happy to buy. It is not just about range, comfort, consumer appeal etc.
Love to see that review.
Love to see the MG pure Ev and the BYD atto 3
Yes, I’d like to see your review of the MG PHEV
Mr Cadogan, I am surprised that you have had no complaints regarding the MG. The reason I say this is that the air-conditioning in my HS HATCHBACK 1.5 T-GDI EXCITE is simply not up to coping with a British summer and I believe it can get way hotter in your neck of the woods and for longer. We have had a few days hitting 40C and I had to drive during one of them. The cabin temperature did not drop below 24C. My personal reason for getting this vehicle is that it is suitable for taller people (I'm 1.88m) and if you know how to drive you can get very reasonable MPG as long as you keep in the sweet spot below where the turbo kicks in.
O for those days of my MG Midget when I had a full head of hair. The purr of the 4 cylinder motor almost audible over the rattling of the body, the roaring of the wind through the poorly fitting rag top, the jingle of the full Sidchrome tool kit required just to keep the beast running. The smell of burning oil ( yep you have almost clocked 35000 miles time for a short rebuild) luckily oil and fuel was relatively cheap, a Green was for bowling on and the EPA was just some government mob that had nothing to do with you.
Thanks for the enlightenment.
Regards Tony
You didn't need a "Full Sidchrome toolkit" even of you could afford to buy one!
3 or 4 AF spanners, a few matching sockets, a pozidrive screwdriver pliers and a roll of pvc tape and you're good to go! That's all I take for both my '65 and '68 Mk2 MG B's, and I've driven Brisbane to Adelaide via Canberra with only new generator brushes on the '65 the only problem in Adelaide. But I do miss the cheap 98 octane "super". My wife bought a new MG 3 last year - a great little car with a great warranty. Can't fault it so far.
@@alexgallacher5720 The MGB has the B Series engine bored out to 1800cc. Does it have the 5 bearing crankshaft like the Austin 1800?

@@rais1953 Yes, it was introduced sometime around 1965, but a lot of owners say the old 3 bearing spins a lot better.

Would like to see your views on the MG HS EV including the cost on installation of a charger at home. Cheers Tim
No need to install a charger at home for the PHEV. We have one, and the charge kit that comes with the car works perfectly plugged into the three point plug in the garage. Charges overnight. I’m currently on 0.5L/km over 600 km commute, generally 55km a day and EV only daily
Yeah go on John, post the review. I for one am very interested in hearing what you think of the MG in a full review.
Also, what are your thoughts on the $46000 Haval H6 Hybrid? Sales for GWM seem pretty solid in general so perhaps another new kid on the block to look out for?
Thanks for the channel, as always.
Hi John, I looked at one 4 years ago and ran away.
Recently I got the chance to look at a top of the range SUV - blown away by build quality, definitely on my short list for the next car buy.
However I did buy a Sportage this time after your report, thanks mate.

You must have low expectations if you're "blown away" by this car
Interesting report John!👍👍
Yes for the review. Thanks.
Would be great to have an in depth review of the MG. Always great videos.
Definitely looking forward to the MG review!
I assessed a 2020 model last week that had been involved in an accident. No issues from a safety perspective however the NS guard had been removed for replacement and the mating surfaces on the front skirt to guard mount had pronounced surface rust. This is not unusual for Chinese vehicles in my experience. The issues with rustproofing remain.
Interested to hear about your review on the MG, I was think of a new car for my wife. Look forward to hearing and seeing what you have to say.
So I got one for my wife, secondhand, MG ZS EV, all I can say is my wife and I are very impressed, a lot of car for the money, good advice John as always. Thank you.
My eldest sone bought his MG3 9 months ago. definitely "low on the polish" but I must admit its fun to drive, and he loves his first ever new car.
The warranty and newer safety features over a second hand almost anything ( at the time ) convinced him to give it a try - absolutely trouble free, and no hassles at all.
My Kia was bought at the same time, and there were a few issues with delivery, and timing/price on tow bar etc etc.. not bad, not as trouble free as buying the MG3 was.
Same I love my mg3 as long as you know it’s bassicly a modern hyundai getz people will be very happy
Took the plunge and bought the MG ZST Essence last year in May; have had zero issues with it whatsoever, and it runs perfectly. 2 big road trips and back, loads of features for $33k in an attractive package. Servicing was fairly inexpensive and painless; and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy MG again down the line. I think the fear of “made in china” cars doesn’t really stack up anymore.
Obviously haven't looked into very deeply.. Good job for supporting a state owned conpany

A Video on the MG ev would be great. We are likely to be purchasing a smaller SUV as a pool vehicle for work in the next few months. We had the ASX and the eclipse on the check out list so maybe MG as well and I have been considering an ev as most of the driving will be short distance and $9K is $9K
Hi John. We have ordered a new MG PHEV HS model. I too was a little suss about the "new" brand but i have not heard any thing bad about then either. Fingers crossed.
I would love to see the MG review.
Of course we want to see the MG review. I’d be interested to see one on the new Ranger as well.
My sister got her xcite awd 2021 model with just 5000km today (dealer demo). Got a great deal in this very difficult time to buy a car in Australia. I honestly don't think she could have gotten a better overall car for the price. I mean it's only the middle model, yet all it is missing are electric and heated seats, everything else it has, good audio, apple/android, nav, the full safety package with adaptive cruise control/lane keep/blind spot monitor etc, and even the electric boot open and close. I am SO glad she went for it and I talked her out of the Kia Sportage with cloth seats for the same money and 5x the kilometers on the odometer! This is just a much nicer car in looks and has the 2 litre 168 kw turbo motor which is much better than what the low Sportage models have in terms of power and torque. She just brought it over and I really like it. I drove the front wheel drive model interstate last year (rented), the base model, and it was still a nice small suv, drives very car like. But she really wanted AWD for the kids when they drive it as they also like to go to the snow a lot and the motor with the extra power, which I agree with, as the FWD model was a bit gutless.
Appreciate the review and your xcellent Stralia humour 😉Has the BYD Atto 3 come under your radar yet?

I bought a 2021 MG ZS EV & got the wife a 2021 MG HS PHEV, we have had them for 12 months now and although these variants are more expensive than their petrol models, they are far better to drive & live with. I have recently had the opportunity to drive the base petrol versions of both models and found the gearbox in the HS very busy compared to the PHEV that has the assistance of the electric motor for smoother driving through the gears. The PHEV has 10 gears where the ICE has a 6 speed auto. My ZS EV is quite a lot more expensive than the petrol model but if anyone has driven the latter, they are worlds apart in performance, sheer joy & convenience to drive. The petrol variant is adequate if you live in a small country town that has no hills & you are in no hurry to get anywhere where the EV has all the punch & zip you need around town/city & has the acceleration to keep up with the traffic so you don't have to wring it's neck to get up a hill or overtake. The drawbacks we have found are mostly software glitches that have been more annoying than problems & for the ZS EV the battery range is less than ideal but having said that, it at the time was the cheapest EV in Australia. Once the charging infrastructure catches up this will be less of an issue, I think that is one of the main concerns people have in regards to EV's
I drove a HS 2.0T a while back and overall it felt pretty nice to sit in and drive. My only concern was the suspension felt like it needed better tuning for our wonderful roads.
We have a few hatches at work. Not bad not great. Felt good around torn men especially up here in North Queensland but on the Bruce highway was a-little gutless.
We had a look today at MG for the first time and wifey loved it because she was able to sit high in the car but yet to take a test drive which is next week and we have a Kona turbo 2020 at present which is a great car but she doesn't like it and i purchased this car through Gorgie which was great and went like clockwork but i may trade the kona in ...not sure yet but the MG is an attractive buy
Sounds like you married a woman loved to be on top and enjoy the ride
Hi John, having watched quite a few of your videos so far I found them to be very addictive and informative, enough to base a sane decision on buying any vehicle these days as the choices have grown more compared to 15 yrs ago. Cars have become more complicated mechanically and digitally making hard to choose. Your reviews and comments have saved me from falling into the debt pit several times. Thanks for that.
Now moving on I have my eyes keen on a recently released in Australia 2023 Mahindra Scorpio N Z8L, an Indian suv capable of 4wd.
Please could you do a review on it asap and if it's going to be a good buy then I like you find one for me.
Thanks a lot.
Shyam Naidu.
Hi John , what’s your take on the Kia Stinger , thanks.
Hey JC! I've got a question about electric motors more generally. You've mentioned a couple of times in the past about the bearing carrying the traction load and an electrical current load. I can't seem to wrap my head around why the bearing would have current running through it. In my mind I only assumed the stator was the one getting the power ran through it via the copper windings.
The chinese brands car dealers are overflowing with stock, while other brands have waiting lists due the component shortages. It seems that china is redirecting the semiconductors to certain brands.
Create and release a 🦠 and win the Trade War!
Perhaps Australians realise they should NOT buy made in China! Particularly as there are plenty of other suppliers.
MG was a classic British manufacturer. Its brand was bouth by China. It doesn't have the same prestige.
Most of the globes semi - conductors or 'chips' are made in Taiwan. China little island--coming soon!
@@senianns9522 by then made in the USA, India and Europe. USA has just banned export of high end chips to China.
I test drove the MG5 EV SW from my local dealer in the UK, expecting much the same as the host. I expected to have a bit of a laugh at its expense. I actually liked the car so much, I purchased one on a 4-year contract plan. It's a bit of an experiment In EV ownership, but here in the UK, there are no dramas in doing that. I will admit it's a little bit like sitting in an early 2000s car, but the ride is great, range equally so and it makes driving pretty much hassle-free to be honest. Can't comment on the dealer support as I haven't had to ask for any, but having spoken to many other MG owners, I would imagine it's unlikely that I will ever need to. MG pilot, The adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist works better than many offered by the mainstream European constructors (in my opinion).
I think that was a pretty fair assessment John 👍🏻
Thanks, BTK
People doubted the quality of Toyota when it came into Au and now it is the turn for MG which is a Chinese brand. It is a good sign though. Time changed my lovely western friends.
Australians are lucky to have access to so many different brands of cars. Here in Canada, Chinese cars are categorically kept out. We also have very few non-German European cars.
It would be great to hear how the review went.
Love to see the report on the MG hybrid.
Mitsubishi are pulling out of the UK market, so after 7 Mitsubishis I bought an MG5 from the same dealership. 15 months in, no complaints.
Interesting you coming out with this video John, I was just talking to a mate of mine that I'd not heard from in a while the other day and I said to him what you driving now cause last time you had an Elantra and he said he's now got an MG ZS I think he said it's an SUV anyway and he said he's had zero issues with it for the two years that he's owned it. And yes I'd love to see a review and hear your thoughts!
mg has started where hyundai was back in the 80s they are not bad cars they are up the rank now i see them come into our dealership ex rental cars and they hold up good they are cheap and have a good warranty chap A to B car to get around
I'd be interested to see the MG review.
Look forward to the review. Please include whether it is Internet connected or not, and if it is, can it be turned off? (pull a fuse). I just can't trust car makers to get security right when the likes of Google/Apple/Microsoft stuff up from time to time - being stolen is one thing, potentially becoming a hapless passenger in a deadly weapon is something else.
Not connected.
Would like to see the report, thanks mate.
"There's a mug born every minute" My dad would say! Here in Thailand there are a few mugs but everyone else drives a Mitsubishi, Toyota, Isuzu or even a...Nissan! The early MGs don't like the hot sun with paint and trim and plastic bits looking very ordinary in some instances. Secondhand low mileage MG3s (not listed new at mo) take a pretty big hit, price wise, if sold within the first year or 2. The new MG VS HEV D top spec is equal to Au$34696.69 plus on road. Great Wall Motors now sell the Haval H6 Ultra here, similar to the MG VS HEV but at a hefty Au$50449.56!
Hi, please do one on Haval 🙏🏾
Yes please. I would like to hear your review. There has been a question I have been longing to ask about the brand. When China MG first arrived I was pleasantly surprised to read several reviews in the mainstream media that basically said "don't bother". Pleasantly surprised because it smacked of rare honest reviews. Fast forward and we are reading positive reviews. What happened? Did the cars dramatically improve or did MG start paying for advertising?
A female friend of our’s new MG3 tried to kill her when it shut down and put her through a fence. No safety features activated.
John, any thoughts on depreciation and resale value vs Japanese brands. I remember you touching on this important point when reviewing niche Korean brands such as SsangYong. The 10k saving on purchase could, potentially, be eroded when this is considered?
100%. Excatly what we thought first. What happens after 10 years. Toyota's are easily sold at 30-40% of the original cost.
