    In 'Bush Tucker Man: Prince Regent Gorge', Major Les Hiddins is helicoptered into Kimberley country in north western Australia. Hiddins retraces the steps of South Australian explorer George Grey, and locates an abundance of native bush tucker along the way - most of which Grey and his men would never have understood.
    This episode first aired on the ABC in 1988.

    The guy is a proper example of a real man , his respect for the aboriginal culture, was at the time this was filmed, rather rare for main stream white society in Australia. Hats off to a true blue Aussie

    Les single handedly made me want to come to this incredible country when I was a 10 year old.
    15 years later I did just that and now spend my weekends out bush in WA.

      What's your favourite spots? I'm originally from the South Coast. Ravy, Albany & Esperance area. So that is my favourite part of WA. God's country. Really beautiful.

    When I was a kid I had my very own Les Hiddins! My Dad! He was in the army and we would go bush an awful lot when I was a kid.

    Born 76… I remember watching this each week haha. All these CZcamsrs making camping videos today prob wouldn’t last a day in the Aussie outback sadly. Les was the true survivalist.

      I was in the uk for a bit then came back to sw wa and it was the birds that got me. Hearing magpies and smelling burning eucalyptus means you're home.

    Every thur on the tube Les Hiddins made my week I had one day left to work.His insights his knowledge ,his diplomacy was the stuff of magic.He relates to the aborigines and they teach and accept him as one of their own that's what makes his information so valuable ,he could do it all on his own but the cooperation with the locals makes his knowledge all the much more valuable?This was the highlight of my week thanks Les !👍😎🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤🥂🍾cheers

    This was the series that got me into the great outdoors back in the 80s Les really was my first tv hero. Brilliant that all the episodes are now back on you rude to watch all over again.

    not much of a Bucket list person but "trying witchery grubs" something I defiantly would like to do. They look like they'd be delicious. Loved watching this guy and Malcolm Douglas back in the day . They both love this country its original occupants and the land

    Hey Les you weren't there by yourself ,,, All that climbing you did and even the helicopter landing the camera guy was there first. It reminds me of those Olympic athletes who were the fastest in the world and the camera guy is running along side them and films them crossing the line.

    Oh man… so happy I stumbled upon this. Born in ‘81 I watched this religiously. As an expat now, it reminds me of all that I love about Australia. Life in the outback can be so grand.
    I’m curious now though as to how his political correctness was regarding Aboriginal Australians. I find him humble and respectful in contrast to the times, but at the same time occasionally cringeworthy.

    Those tiny little fruits very high in vitamin C would probably go through you faster than the hottest curry on earth. I don't blame the early explorers for being wary, half the stuff growing wild would embalm anyone.

      Well Les is ex army trainer teaching the Australian army to survive in tough places using Aboriginal knowledge he has had some scary encounters with crocodiles that's the main reason ......he said he's hasn't had to shoot one ......
