People fail to understand that you can chase in the wrong direction but it must be done with extreme caution. Unfortunately, this trooper just turned around in front of the truck which is a shame, his adrenaline was pumping, and he was just focused on the chase and not his surroundings.
Which means he shoulda backed off. "A shame?" Smfh.
That is crazy. The trooper failed to call others for support, instead he decided to go against the traffic flow in I-95 risking not only his life but others. All this chasing was not worth it. He was not the only trooper in town, why not calling for reinforcement, why not wait until the suspect get out from the highway. Trooper hit the trucker head on killing himself, killing the trucker and placing others in great risk. The fdmily of the truckers must sue the troopers and the state of Florida.
No he didn't. He called for back up, they just hadn't gotten there yet
Armchair trooper?
Where do you get your information? There was absolutely no head on collision
The trooper was extremely reckless in his decision making.
The truck driver also couldn’t drive
@@CN45475Don't blame the innocent victim, moron!
There’s more to the story than what has been released. A St Lucie County Sheriff’s vehicle was also heavily damaged. It was reported that the roof of that vehicle was torn off. The suspect crashed his car on city streets a few miles north of the trooper’s crash; its reported the suspect was driving up to 140mph.
What a tragic incident. It was an awful day here in St Lucie County.
My condolences to the families of the trooper and the truck driver.
Florida! Land of "The Cowboys Cops".....
"Did trooper who died chasing fleeing suspect in crash follow pursuit policy?"
Policy: Policy is a deliberate system of guidelines to guide decisions and achieve rational outcomes.
A policy is not a law no matter what the CDC says. The CDC is wrong.
they need those tire net to stop chases quick!
I agree
They have them.
Yes. Or we have long days like this.
Trooper was at fault 100% . I hope the Mas' family is compensated.
How about common sense. @hand730
@hand730at fault and having bad policy aren't the same thing. Congratulations on having the most idiotic take I've seen today. I bet the policy doesn't even state do not kill innocent truck drivers.
@hand730 Julia “Jenny” Perez was awarded $6,3 million for doing a U-turn with lights on for injuring the motorcycle rider in St. Johnson County Florida. Qualified immunity will easily be revoked. The fleeing drive can technically be charged with the two deaths. See what I did there. 😆
Have a nice day
@hand730 so he was violating policy. Makes the truck drivers lawsuit worth even more. So technically, he was committing a crime. 😆 🤣
it may not be a violation of policy but he was 100% at fault@hand730
FHP is not ASP (Arkansas Highway Patrol)
Somebody had a bruised ego.
So bad for the truck driver for the police celebration in all Florida
Congratulations NBC5 and that so called “expert”. You’re working for the side of the defense in this trial.
As a former cop! Big No No u don't put yourself and the public at risk and that's not policy ! The road boss should've terminated that pursuit ASAP!
What good does it do to ask that now??? The man is deceased and can't respond or defend himself. People need to remember that if it hadn't been for the suspect these two tragic deaths never would have happened!
it's incredible the lengths some people will go to lick the boots of law enforcement personnel
Of course the union guy is gung-ho for it. Even after losing one of their own. "Any means necessary" killed a civilian as well. But we all know that we the public must occasionally be sacrificed to maintain the hero status of the "thin blue line."
When the police in general ,flip on the lights and siren YOU CANT get out of the way fast enough, then they go by you waving there hands like your the problem !!!! Once again NGL !!!!
Right or wrong this trooper killed a innocent man trying to make a honest living and should not be glorified in doing so
Who is glorifying the trooper cupcake? How long you been in a police car? Academy? On the job?
@@SHADOWS1 police are nothing but 🐷
No he didn't. You need to remember if it hadn't been for the suspect driving into oncoming traffic both of these men would still be alive. The suspect killed him, not the trooper. The trooper kept pursuing him because he was putting the safety of the public at high risk.
@SMcCaskill It is every drivers responsibility to drive safely and follow the laws, so this cop is responsible for the death of the innocent truck driver as well as his own death.
He appears to be quite a chubby fellow, probably had a whole donut in his fat choppers.
@@overlord5580 stay in your basement keyboard coward. STFU & get off this net. You don't have permission to be here
Incidental deaths while you've committed a crime and wantonly flee are on you; hence, vehicular homicide. Addison drove at a semi that diverted to avoid a head-on collision, only to find a patrol car waiting to complete its turn in the path of the semi, now in all three of the I-95 lanes, T-boning the trooper. It's sad, horrible, and it's all due to the throwaway life of a felon.
So excuse the incompetence, loss of situational awareness etc of the trooper? Lulz. Y'all love excusing them by any means necessary.
It's how you spread the blame, @@johnevans7006 . Nothing can excuse what youthful idiocy breaks.
Did the cops follow the law?
Not likely
Monday morning quarter backing, coulda, woulda, shoulda, who knows?
2:58... wondering how many folks' rights YOU violated while wearing ya blue costume..........
Hmmm.......
The fleeing criminal should be charged for the deaths of the two victims.
He will get a participation trophy. Oh wait, this wasn't in Portland.
@@robertslugg8361 You sound like you're in communist Russia.
Seriously?! What a ridiculous article. He is the law and was a chasing a CRIMINAL! A fleeing felon! What is wrong with you people?!?
Services for this hero...chasing a criminal while you all slept soundly in your comfy beds...are barely concluded and you post this?? Shame!
He killed someone. His actions are subject to scrutiny. Period.
Thank you for looking into it the trooper was the killer not the guy fleeing. Ya'll can charge him for driving reckless not murder. Let's A have a gun but B is chasing A . A run to a couple more alphabet escape but B chasing after A run in the a couple alphabet. A kill himself and C by mistake is it's A fault? Just asking
Wth? What?
No. A made a wrong turn into the rough instead of the hood, and his (or his daddy's idk) wrongful discharge of a weapon made C s*it his pants. A pays the laundry for B,C etc.
You are the epitome of how screwed up society is. You are spewing your opinion, not fact. The FACT is, if YOU are being chased by police(fleeing) and during the pursuit ANYONE dies as a result of YOU fleeing, the blame is on YOU, the person fleeing. There is plenty of case law on the subject. With that being said, I do not agree with pursuits. But, what is the answer. Stop all pursuits? So then criminals know, all they have to do is drive away?🙄.
Civil lawsuit for the police and fleeing driver. Criminal charges for the fleeing driver alone.
Maybe if the stupid truck driver would of stopped for blue lights they’d both be alive
Maybe if the officer did not perform an illegal U turn in front of a semi that cannot stop that fast. This was reckless on the part of the officer.
This is next level boot licking
@@laurenurban3942 when a officer has there emergency lights there allowed to break traffic laws also that truck driver could see those blue lights at night from miles away plenty of time to stop
You idiot.
You are delusional if you think an 18 wheeler can stop on the dot doing 70 mph. Your IQ level is middle school level.
