  • This is just a quick review of the Beartooth Comb Raising Kit. It seems to be a really good product that fills a need a lot of us have for adjusting the comb on our rifles.

    Just ordered one of these for my thermal coyote rig. It had ti be mounted super high and i lost my cheek weld. Thanks for the video. Sold me on it.

    Gotta love the subtle truth of returning all 5 rounds to the shell holder at the end of hunting😂.
    Not 4, but all 5

    Many thanks sir, this is a lot cheaper solution than a new adjustable stock. I bought a little Sako 22-250 for my son and he struggles with his cheek wield. This video sold me on the cheek riser.
    You have a new sub from me

    I bought one for my Christiansen Arms Traverse, it has a Monty on it, plus a short pull. I struggled hard to find a repeatable weld. This really improved my situation…I second your thoughts on putting it on…. It like wrestling a badger in a frog pond.

    Thanks, Tom. I have a weatherby vanguard (original version) and the monte carlo is just a touch too low for me. The series 2 fits me really well, but not the original. I wonder if this product will work with the smaller monte carlo design.

    Maybe remove the barreled action and slip it on from the forearm end then tighten it all back.

    I’ve seen these on Amazon and debated on getting one. Two of the rifles I own have straight combs, but have shadowline style cheek pieces. I’m wondering if these would be good for that style of stock.

      That's a tough call. I'm sure it would work with those cheek pieces but it would hide the details in those shadow lines and those lines are such a nice touch to any stock. What I'm talking about is just looks and not functionality but it just seems like a shame not to show off details on a nice stock. One thing I've been doing is using scopes with 40mm objectives and that has let me mount the scopes low enough that I don't even need a cheek piece on most of my rifles now. But if you need a cheek piece this is probably your best way to go?

      Someone had a great idea when they came up with this. It solves a problem that isn't very easily solved for a lot of rifles.

    Can you just leave it on the wood stock without damaging it or do you have to take it off and on?

    • @TomRiverSimpleLiving
      @TomRiverSimpleLiving  Před 3 lety +1

      You can leave it on. The only time you would need to remove it is if you were out in the rain or something and got it wet. You would want to let it dry good before pitting it back on.

      Ok, thanks for the help Tom. This will be perfect for my Winchester 70 pre 64 with the old low comb stock!

    Do you know if this would work with the Ruger 77’s paddle stock?

    • @TomRiverSimpleLiving
      @TomRiverSimpleLiving  Před 4 lety +1

      I don't think it will just because of the shape of the paddle stock but I didn't actually try it on mine. I just assumed it wouldn't? I don't know if you saw my video, Thoughts On Setting Up A Deer Rifle, but what I did with my paddle stock in that video was put a Hornady ammo holder on it and that fit well and really improved the check weld. Unfortunately it's a lot pricier than this but if that's an issue you can get the HS precision ammo holder that is very similar but costs a lot less (it's not quite as high as the Hornady one). The straps on the Hornady and HS precision ammo holders are velcroed in place so you can adjust them. They are a fixed height but you could put something like a piece of pipe insulation under them and then adjust the height if you need to. I'm just throwing out some ideas. Hope this helps?
