  • You’ll always be my drummer
“Hey Jimmy, you'll always be my drummer. Sometimes I had to dodge one of your drum sticks you threw at me from time to time because you were so dang opinionated; but most of the time I followed your beat which kept me from wondering too far off center. I miss knowing you're not a phone call away even though I didn't take advantage of that, and I'll love you and the thought of you forever. You have made a profound boot print on this earth and all of our hearts”
Jimmy’s love, loyalty, and contributions to our community have had a significant impact on many of our lives. Those lifelong characteristics have recently manifested themselves into everything from Scholarship Funds to Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Those of you who attended Jimmy’s funeral watched Wynn’s very moving video of Jimmy’s life. It highlighted who he was - a great husband, a proud father, a loving son, a motivating coach and loyal friend. It also highlighted one of his passions, The Jesus Boogie Band.
Not only was he a very gifted percussionist (if it beat or rattled, HE PLAYED IT), he had the ability to hear the end result of an original song that we brought to him and lead us through the instrumental and vocal arrangement process.
Jimmy gave me a reel-to-reel master tape of a JBB studio session 37 years ago. It was stored and exposed to the elements with every move I made and eventually the tape was melted together. I’ve tried several times over the years to digitally remaster it but the technology just wasn’t there.
Now it is… A Digitally remastered JBB memories and a tribute to Jimmy.
My photos of the JBB are limited. If anyone has photos of those years of the band I would love to update the videos with them.
    …………………………………….
    The JBB Story:
1978 when I came back in town for the summer Jimmy called me. He said Chuck (Palmer), Tony (Guadagnolo) and he have been jamming at this old dilapidated abandoned house… Some Eagles, Kenny Loggins, JT, Neil Young, etc… He knew I played a little guitar from his visits to Houston to see Rex and I. He invited me to come up there and plug in. I didn’t own an amp, only a six string no name guitar I bought at Woody’s Pawn Shop on Division and Center in 9th grade.
Long story short. I drove to the address the next night, heard some pretty cool Hotel California coming out of the glassless windows. I smiled, got out of my jeep and grabbed my dilapidated guitar case and joined in. A few weeks later we all got religion (again). It kind of felt like “coming home” from a Young Life camp. The next thing we knew Jimmy’s mom and dad gave up their garage, acoustic tile went up on the walls along with a ‘WANTED” poster of JC - and the JBB journey began.

You should go on "Masked Singer" you have great trivia/clues and you capture an audience today just like in the early 80's. Very entertaining. You have my vote! I think prize money goes to a nonprofit of your choice! Meadowlark Lemon camp is amazing! Thank you
