The mental battle kicks my ass hard. Steep and chunky is just in my head, and I struggle hard to overcome it. Most of the time, I lose. It's extremely frustrating and really limits my progression.

If I was that talented on the bike I would, I understand if there was commitments to work and school but that can come later, grab this chance with both hands otherwise someone else will.

So true. Being a "thinker" in downhill is... Nearly impossible. The best way to ride it is in the moment, focused on pulling back time. You have to race like you know you're in second and you can win by just pulling more time. You can't think 'my top was good' or 'i hate the woods coming up' or 'this is my chance'. The entire run should be how can I get a tenth of a second out of every feature, every pump, every corner. Push, push, push. That's it. Never complacency. Never pride. 15:47 - an absolutely shit bit of track design tbh, just completely failed to factor in the preceding track and potential conditions, unlike the big drop at Ft Bill, which can be taken at a slow speed. Thibault was not the only guy who got shafted by it.
