I just discovered you... you deserve a lot more views than this. You are very articulate and interesting to listen to. Congrats on the car, I hope to get Carrera s soon.
07-08 GT3/RS pure raw gritty Merger w tons of feel steering, shifter and clutch … 2018 GT3 manual ... epic engine and massive performance limits … thank you for video
Awesome video man. I just bought a 997.1 Turbo. Also being a fellow S2000 and M3 owner, i think the GT3 would have been a better choice for me, but GT3 prices are just a bit out of reach for now. 997 Turbo is not a bad compromise though. Thanks again for the video. I'll continue to dream!
Glad I ran into your channel. I enjoyed the review and the similar taste in cars! I owned my 997.1gt3 for 3 years and it's the longest car I've owned and I don't see it leaving the stable anytime soon. Be sure to try out a mr2 spyder if you get a chance. I think it was one of the most underrated cars/chassis. The recent cars I've owned/own include boss302, nb, c6z06, f80 m3, e63 m6, 997s, r53s, etc
+roy kwon Wow, that's quite an impressive list of cars you've owned there Roy. And a real wide range of tastes. Love your experience. What do you think of the muscle cars you've owned? I've never owned them.
+driveopolis . Yep this was in youtube. I was hoping you would compare this gt3 to your previous cars (s2k, e9x m3, miata) which are all such true driver cars. Maybe in future reviews? Keep up the good work man.
+evo552 For sure. Glad I could inspire and motivate you! But the M3 is a fantastic car as well so enjoy it! Not driving it in a whole year is a real waste!
driveopolis funny how you mention this. I graduated last May didn't register the car until i found a job,I just got hired I start April. I'm registering my car next week i will be changing all the fluids. Thanks for the encouragement/Motivation hopefully in the next year I will be able to pick up an gt3 I will start posting videos. Thanks you inspired me.
+boostftw123 hey, thank you so much for your support. Sometimes, I wonder if I should keep going... but comments like yours are a big encouragement. So thank you!
I’m looking at getting my Porsche. I have the 964 itch and also the 997 gt3 itch... can anyone give me any wisdom on which one is the better buy? As far as the overall experience goes.
I haven't spent much time in the 964 so I can't really comment. But I would say the 997 is a good sweet spot of classic versus modern. I would go 997 but I think the 964 is more collectible.
Great review. I'm thinking of buying this car vs a GT4. By your actions it appears the GT4 is a better car for around the same price, though I wonder how its resale value will hold up over the years.
+John Chu Thank you John. I think I would say that the GT4 provides a better driving experience overall and it is new. However, if you can find yourself a mint 997 GT3, I think its collectability is higher and of course, its driving experience is no slouch. You get the wonderful hydraulic steering and the motorsports derived mezger engine. It is more racecar feeling than the GT4.
+driveopolis Haha, well I'm literally looking at *your* old GT3 right now, so I assume I've found a minty example, though for the price there are similar deals in Toronto (where I'm from) with less mileage. Your dealer pointed me to this video. Nice progression of cars. I've gone through 3 gens of GTRs, 2 S2K (including the CR), Caterham 7, M3, M5, on my second NSX. I've always liked Porsches but never see myself as a P-car guy for some reason. Your vids are very informative.
There is no question... having had both, the '18 is a way better vehicle. But if you like the old school feel, it's the 997. Price premium difference is really down to your own preferences!
Hi Dennis! I don't recall doing it for this particular video, but in a lot of my videos I do tape an external mic near the exhaust for a better capture. And then I mix it in post.
Hey man just wanted to ask cause I think I got the same style of car as you do. I like light nimble, greath handling sports car which favour driving pleasure over brute horse power. Currently own a honda integra type r dc2 and love it to bits I think its one of the greatest if not the greatest fwd sports cars ever, but its undeniable that one day I'll move to something a bit more powerful and rwd. So what would you recommend? Should I go for the S2k or should I save more money and go straight for the cayman. And also, how does the e92 m3 compare to the cayman in terms of handling and fun. Would really appreciate your opinion on this cause you've pretty much owned all the cars I consider owning bar the lotus elise/exige.
Hi Iceman! Congrats on the Type R DC2. I agree with you that it is one of the best, if not THE best FWD to ever come into existence. I think an S2k would be a natural move for you, but the S2k -- as awesome as it may be -- lacks a little in steering feel and the chassis is a little wooden. Not as fluid as an E92 M3 or Cayman. Between the E92 M3 and the Cayman is a tougher call. Purist driving experience would have to go to the Cayman. But if you need an all rounder, the M3 quickly tips the scales back in its favor with its practicality, ride, comfort and storage space. I like both for different reasons. M3 if it's my only car. Cayman if I have two or more cars. Speaking of Lotus Exige, you should check out my latest video: Exige reviewed at the track!
Thanks for your response. Yes I'll probabbly go cayman in the future cause the m3 is kindof more of a daily car although it has an amazing engine. Lotus I've been told are a bit too raw for road use especially the poor roads in my country. Congrats for the gt3 btw, epic car.
Just kind of browsing prices online between a gt4 and a 997 gt3, they same to be holding around the same price range. What do you think is the better buy?
+The3Natural That's a tough call. The GT4 will be new and under warranty. The 997 will have the hydralic steering and the mezger engine. From my experience now, I prefer the driving of the GT4. It's got the better gearbox, is more developed in the way it handles bumps and bad conditions and I'm having a riot with the balance. The 997 GT3 feels more motorsports derived due to the engine and being a 911 GT3. I love both. You'd have to consider how nice the GT3 is, I think. That's the deciding factor for me if all else was truly equal and I can live with the no warranty on the 997.
looks likes wa state.Looking to get a 997 gt3 coming from a s2 exige k20 turbo, want more refinement(car is too track/raw for street). hows the reliability of the 997 gt3? I could bang on the exige all day just want to know if i can do it on the gt3!
+Joe O If you perform a few reliability updates the 997 GT3 is solid. The main thing is to pin the coolant hoses. A bit of work as it's an engine out operation, but well worth it. The Exige is an exceptional track car!
+Attilio Rizzo Jr. I absolutely agree. I reviewed the 991 GT3 here: czcams.com/video/J1sBZWoEWiI/video.html I also have the GT4 now: czcams.com/video/dakq56J2odk/video.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z13cytfoavbvu52ts22mhn1qwr2zxdjxu04 The 997 GT3s are holding value very well but I suspect they will start to drop when the 991.2 GT3 is announced with an optional manual.
I certainly like the engine in the 997 GT3 better. I also like that it's a 911. The GT4 is easier to drive and has a much updated interior and design. I think my heart is still with the 911.
I just discovered you... you deserve a lot more views than this. You are very articulate and interesting to listen to. Congrats on the car, I hope to get Carrera s soon.
+vysoc Hey, thank you so much for your comment. Did you end up getting the C2S? I see one in your picture!
I’m looking for a 997 gt3 right now and I’m glad i came across this video!
I'm glad it helped! Hope you got your 997 GT3!
Nice video, love the 997 generation
Thank you! I still do as well. Though I've moved on to the 991.2 now. Video up soon.
07-08 GT3/RS pure raw gritty Merger w tons of feel steering, shifter and clutch … 2018 GT3 manual ... epic engine and massive performance limits … thank you for video
Thanks Brian! I've got the '18 in manual... editing a video of it right now.
I love the enthusiasm! Great video! I have a 991 GT3 and love it. Your review of that car was excellent as well.
+Pixel AGL Pixel, thank you so much! What color is your 991 GT3? You are a lucky person!
+driveopolis It's white. :) I still smile every time I drive it. It's not a garage queen.
Great choice. GT car's best color. And I agree, these are best enjoyed when NOT a garage queen.
I'm just about to become a 997.1 GT3 owner and this has got me pretty excited, nice vid and review!
+David R David, thanks! You're going to love it!!! What color did you get?
Awesome video man. I just bought a 997.1 Turbo. Also being a fellow S2000 and M3 owner, i think the GT3 would have been a better choice for me, but GT3 prices are just a bit out of reach for now. 997 Turbo is not a bad compromise though. Thanks again for the video. I'll continue to dream!
I agree with you! No shame in owning a 997 Turbo. Still a fantastic driving experience and a better all rounder in bad weather. Congrats!
This is a great video. First person that I've seen, first video, where the porsche looks absolutely GIGANTIC with such a little man haha
Awsome! My dream car without any doubt! Nice video! That motor sound is really exciting!
Glad I ran into your channel. I enjoyed the review and the similar taste in cars! I owned my 997.1gt3 for 3 years and it's the longest car I've owned and I don't see it leaving the stable anytime soon.

Great video man. I wanted to see a review of an older gen gt3 and your video was the first to show on my search list. Was not dissapointed.
+nov1505 Thank you! Did you find me under a youtube search?
+driveopolis . Yep this was in youtube. I was hoping you would compare this gt3 to your previous cars (s2k, e9x m3, miata) which are all such true driver cars. Maybe in future reviews? Keep up the good work man.
nov1505 thanks! Will be doing a few more comparison reviews this year. Will keep your ideas in mind, thank you.
One day my friend....nice vid. Like the drivers side window view a lot. Enjoy this amazing Porsche!
+ZondaF355 Thanks! I appreciate it!
I drove a 991 gt3 today and WOW completely blown away! I have to own one before I die
+Oscar Rivas The 991 is unreal, Oscar. I agree, it is a bucket list car for sure. Thanks for your comment!
Great review and channel. Love the quality of videos, keep it up!
+noobatnothing Thank you so much nooba. Appreciate your support.
Great review and great feedback! Keep 'em coming.
+Darren Boman Thank you Darren! I appreciate your support.
More a fan of the older Porsches (90's) but that's a nice car man. Congrats on the purchase. :)
+youtubasoarus Thank you. I know, the 90s-era 911s are the ones to have but they've become out of reach now!
Great video and such a genuine person
Thanks for the compliment Justin!
i still have an m3 i haven't touch in a year but i want an gt3 so bad great review man you inspired me to go hard
+evo552 For sure. Glad I could inspire and motivate you! But the M3 is a fantastic car as well so enjoy it! Not driving it in a whole year is a real waste!

great job, sam! dont ever stop making videos
+boostftw123 hey, thank you so much for your support. Sometimes, I wonder if I should keep going... but comments like yours are a big encouragement. So thank you!
Don't stop! I'm a new subscriber and I love your videos, very well done.
Good Man! Thanks alot!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!
nice shot of the BBC, i love porsche!! nice reviews too btw, keep it coming bro
+Mr La Thanks Mr. La. Will I see you at a BBC this year??
Hey bro! yes i will be at BBC this year, hope to see you there!
Mr La I just picked up my GT4! I hope to see you soon this year. Hit me up on instagram or twitter for updates @driveopolis

NB Miata---> AP2 S2000-Cayman S---> E90 M3-->997.1 GT3 is the literal car progression of my dreams.
+Sarin Murlidar Thanks! It was a fun ride and each car helps to understand the next one better.
Excellent and very inspiring review, thanks!
+AS407 Thank you AS407!
Thank for you sharing
My pleasure! Thank you for watching Jacky!
Did you end up posting a comparison between 997.1 vs new (2018) manual GT3? Wondering if $60k CAD is worth the premium.
There is no question... having had both, the '18 is a way better vehicle. But if you like the old school feel, it's the 997. Price premium difference is really down to your own preferences!
Very fine review
+EuropeansCars Thank you so much. Just watched some of your stuff and subbed you too.
Great video. Did u put a mic next to the exhaust to capture so much clear sound? Also may we know how much you payed for it?
Hi Dennis! I don't recall doing it for this particular video, but in a lot of my videos I do tape an external mic near the exhaust for a better capture. And then I mix it in post.

The route I thought about upgrading my machines, NA MX-5 for now😂
Nothing wrong with the NA MX5. Still a brilliant, brilliant car! Awesome for any enthusiast no matter his/her experience.
Best of the best when it comes to delicious talking...
+barack obama And you're the best when it comes to comments... 'delicious talking' is a nice one. Thank you!
graduate next week in operation management im studying for finals right now so i can land a jo and hopefully get an 997 gt3 but have student loans
+evo552 Hey, don't give up. If you want it bad enough, you'll work your way to get it!
Do the ramsey babysteps

991 is much better than 997. I believe Porsche moves forward for a reason. The good news is you can get these 997's cheaper second hand.
+Attilio Rizzo Jr. I absolutely agree. I reviewed the 991 GT3 here: czcams.com/video/J1sBZWoEWiI/video.html
I also have the GT4 now: czcams.com/video/dakq56J2odk/video.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z13cytfoavbvu52ts22mhn1qwr2zxdjxu04

Isn't that a 3.8 litre inside the GT3?
***** It's a 3.8 on the 997 Gen 2 GT3 and also on the newest 991 GT3. However, on the original 997 gen 1, it's a 3.6
drivingvancouver Ok Gen1 you have. Thanks for the clarification. Sweet car. Would love to do a video shoot of that car someday
Are you in Vancouver?
Yes!
