Exactly what EQC casinos in Tacoma and Fife charges you when you use their card. For $10,000 you can get a free Subway, chips and drink. WOW great deal! At least Muckleshoot casino in Auburn lets you get $1 worth of food for $300, so you only need to lose $3300, wow what a deal. The more you bet the more you lose so the big betters can get their "free food" so they think.

Not entirely spot on. Barney Vinson is wrong not to include video poker on his list of the best games to play, but he did imply it briefly. Michael Shackleford Wizard of Odds was criticized many times for not showing a full pay deuces wild game in his demonstration of pay tables. Max Rubin should not have encouraged people to play Caribbean Stud, because anyone who doesn't use optimal strategy faces a house edge the size of the lottery. Most Caribbean Stud players would be better off playing Keno or Megabucks, both of which are terrible games, but offers a ginormous longshot jackpot.

Just remember that every time someone finds a way to beat the game, the casinos change the rules or procedures. Go back and look at the rules from 30-40 years ago. They're may be different and/or the procedures are different if people had found out how to beat those games. Remember the video says the casinos are never going to give you a percentage that's in your favor. Better odds just me and you'll lose your money a little more slowly. A great example is when the MIT teams found ways to beat the games, the casinos made drastic changes so that wouldn't happen again.

Great video! I think the lesson here well learned is to *set a limit and stay within it* - not only don't gamble more than you can lose but calculate your hours and days on vacation to lose slowly (preparing for the probibility of losing). In other words, I wouldn't place too many high bets too quickly on your trip (to then potentially use up your bankroll too quickly!).
I'm about to go to Vegas so I'm going to actually be a little "selfish" and write this comment (it's going to be long) for myself as well as you, the reader reading this :-)
Other things not mentioned here in this video is basically the human or spiritual factor (for lack of better terms :-).
One's goal (if they are not trying to seriously be a professional gambler) is to HAVE FUN (in the long AND short-run)! An idea of one person's fun might not equal somebody else's idea of fun. E.g., In Las Vegas, for instance, some people might prefer the flashiness and pumping hip-hop music one might find at The Linq casino And others (such as myself) might go for "older people music" (which I actually preferred when I was 19!) At a higher and casino like Bellagio or maybe The Wynn.
Here are examples in my case of how I personally can make my trip more "profitable," while not relating always directly to money:
    - AVOID SMOKE ... I prefer to avoid being around players and areas that are too smoky, so one strategy would be to find casinos that are either non-smoking (virtually impossible in Vegas except for the airport :-) or have very good ventilation systems (so in Vegas, I stick to the bigger hotels on the strip rather than the smaller hotels let's say in downtown - even when/if the payouts of the slot machines are better downtown)
    - If playing table games, try to find a table where people are not smoking (obviously) but also having a good time (and emitting a wavelength that I want to be around). Therefore, I avoid quiet tables with people who have very serious faces (I'm in Vegas to have fun) Or are even grumpy. they talk about mathematics by the way in this video but I have noticed that I NEVER win when I'm feeling crappy (no matter how well I play) but when I hit well - especially at tables - it's when I'm feeling good and I'm around people where I'm having a fun time - so I think there is more to it ultimately than pure mathematics… That's from personal experience…Just sayin'…
    - I try to stick with the hotel-casinos that have higher-quality complimentary alcohol (the downside being again, these machines in these casinos may indeed have worse payouts). I would say with the ventilation systems along with the higher level of complimentary drinks, it might be logical to play the tables at those casinos - those games where the odds don't vary depending on technician programming (as they do with the slot machines).
Indeed, blackjack at a fancy, well ventilated, less smoky strip casino with ( relatively) high-end Scotch being comped, the odds are exactly the same. One problem with higher-end casinos is that the minimums are generally going to be higher (if that messes with the strategy of not losing to quickly, it could be better to avoid the tables, regardless).
    - Discipline of walking away from a machine or table when you hit a nice win is more psychologically than mathematically logical. Again, if one has a goal to have fun, applying that discipline of walking away after a jackpot could add to the overall vacation experience (I always like that feeling of walking around the casino, etc. when I'm ahead (even if in three hours I will be behind). Indeed, it's nice to enjoy those three hours of being a winner = part of the fun!).
This is one of the longest comments in CZcams history so I think I'll cap It right there - good luck out there as a friend of mine who's a gambler in the UK says, "Either stay off it… Or be lucky!"

The big sucker bets at the blackjack tables now are the side bets. They're fun if you play a dollar every now and then to win 30 but if you try and ride it you're gonna lose anything you win playing normal blackjack. Another casino advantage thing we saw at a $10 blackjack table at the golden nugget was if the dealer draws a 22 they don't bust they roll 4 dice with a cat on ONE SIDE. If you get zero cats, it's a push. Any cats there's some odds but let's be real all it does is turn 22 into a push instead of a bust!

Huh... here's the thing about "dumb bets". I walked in to a casino with $100 (most I was willing to lose, left all other cash and cards). I was losing and was down to my last $30 or so. I decided to pass the time talking with a friend who was playing 3 Card Poker. I figured I might as well try it since I wanted to sit down. He knew the game and lost everything. I left with about $1,500. To this day, I still don't understand the rules to that game. Idk, I put money down, cards got moved around, and the dealer just kept giving me more money. Dumb bets and dumb luck is not common but can be awesome. Haha.
I prefer bets among friends and family so I've only ever played slots on very rare occasions since.

My last time working really hard at counting cards I made $350 on a $20 bet. The count in the shoe was like I'd never seen. The reason I made so much is because I bet more. If the shoe sucked, I would have lost. Luck is still hugely important.

You know people have different mindsets? Don't conclude from yourselve to others. Warn the people who are like you, but leave the others alone.
I remember my first visit in the casino:
A bunch of old people, that were always hanging around the slots and writing down in their little notebooks which slot gave which win at what time(which makes 0 sense if you understand the game), came at me to "warn" me, i should leave and not even start ... i would be such a young nice man who still can have it all ... and that gambling is an evil trap .... well that was pretty confusing ... they ment it well but obviously they were psychologically ill ...
Now, over 15 years later ... still lowrolling most of the time ... never having had a gambling problem ... having had quite a lot of luck ... and multiple times in my life didn't care about gambling anymore, just because other things were more interesting at these times ... i can with certainty say: not all people who enjoy gambling are in danger of getting a problem with it ... i always come for the fun, not for the money ... this is why.
You must see it so, that you pay for the game itself, and just as much as you want to spend. And the wins are just a bonus. If you can't see it like that, it is probably not the right hobby for you.

Blackjack has about a 3%-5% house edge the way most people play it. Most dealers dont know proper stragedy. If you read playing blackjack as a business they tell you what basic stragedy is and how much making a mistake costs. Example not hitting 16vs7 cost you 12% of your bet not hitting 16 vs a 10 cost you 3% and if there are a lack of 5's it can be right to stand.

It's well known that Craps and optimal strategy Blackjack are the least damaging to the player. You can't win in the long run at either, but you'll go broke more slowly.
When I go to Vegas, I'm either in the poker room or the sports book. You're still up against it as the house takes its cut, but you're competing against other players, not the harsh negative expectation mathematics of the other games. Very difficult to make money here either, but at least you have a theoretical chance.

In roulette, Your goods are the best, however, an old carnival trick or people that have played childhood games, is completely predictable for the person controlling the ball release, almost to a near 100% ratio of hitting that 00. its the design of the game, however, if you used slow camera footage and controlled the speed and spin of a ball release or use a machine, the angle of momentum and where it hits is not random, the best people to train this, is people who do not have not be taught how to read the numbers, in which are spinning thus, the orientation will not be confused. 00 three times in a row!

I think playing perfect blackjack (basic strategy) is something like a .5% house edge. The way to tip the edge in your favor is to count cards. With enough practice its “easy”. What makes it difficult is dodging the floor man.

    • @gjune36
      @gjune36 Před 4 lety

The thing is no one plays perfectly. And many Casinos has adopted house rules to affect card-counting. Such as cutting 2 decks from a 6-8 deck shoe. Burning a card whenever there's a dealer change, and you bet your ass they will change dealer every 15 minutes if you're getting hot. And you see the dealer in it too, they will deal slower to buy time for the dealer change. Or what my Casino did, replace hand shuffle with a continuous shuffle machine; eliminating card-counting completely.
To find the optimal 1-2 deck blackjack table is non-existent. Or even finding the 4-6 deck, with only 1 deck cut off is rare.

The best game in a casino is actually Texas Hold Em in the poker room. NOT Ultimate Texas hold 'em against the dealer but true Texas hold 'em where you play other patrons & the house simply takes a rake from each pot. Damn shame they don't even mention the game. I suppose it's their least favorite as the money they make is probably way less than any games played directly against them. I know as a poker player they don't comp you on the same level as say a blackjack or craps player, cause they don't view you as a money maker for them. Play poker & then I'd recommend the 3 games mentioned in this documentary but poker is best, 0% house edge cause it's not played against the house.

I know I'm late but if anyone is curious on the real numbers, your best bet to beat the house is playing Baccarat perfectly, followed closely by playing blackjack perfectly. Then straight up craps. It's hard to say with poker because every house rake is different at each casino.

kiss myass i agree with you on baccarat and poker like u said different Rake at every casino!! Black jack though i disagree, that is the most house winning game on tabkr game history. By table game i mean most standard, " blackjack, craps, pai gow, baccarat, roulette. Not the war or big 6 reel and other crazy games they have now adays! Black jack you are guaranteed just about to lose of you stay no matter what! You can go on a streak and win few hands in a row and then if stay long it will take it all back plus more! Im not a fan of betting a 100 to win a 100 as in black jack!

Adam C, depends on the Casino. Some of the more generous casinos offer a wide range of games and opportunities for the player to either come on top or walk off even. Even if the game itself is never in your favor you can get more values in comps than what you lose. For example in the past year I lost $5 at the BJ table but I was given well over $500 worth of comps. The year before I had come on top $75 and received about the same amount of total comp value. For anyone wondering the Casino I gamble at is Foxwoods in Mashuntucket.

The "experts" interviewed make some completely unwarranted assumptions about how software-based games (slots, video poker, etc) can work. There is no law, for example, that requires a video poker machine to make an honest shuffle of the cards based on a random number - it could easily be deigned to never give a royal flush, or maybe 1000x less often than one would expect. As long as the average rake is determined and disclosed to the gaming board, the software can do whatever it wants. There is also no rule requiring each spin or deal to be mathematically independent, and very likely isn't on a well engineered game that's been designed to trigger addictive gambling behavior.
