His Vida Blue comments are dead on. As a young Tiger fan, I remember HUGE anticipation at Tiger Stadium during Blue's heyday. Only Fidrych seemed more anticipated. Blue could make you fall in love with an 8th inning, 2-1 game. He was that good.

Despite being an Indians fan I really enjoyed watching the Orioles pitchers and of course their great teams.

Man i so agree with you.. seems like they were always beating my Yankee teams, so you hated them but at the same time you could not help but admire those O's teams.. even their manager.. King Earl..lol

Your camera operator makes me seasick. If you're interviewing a Hall of Famer, use a tripod!

i understand that middle-age and older yankee fans adore thurman munson. something about him made him very very popular. this notion that he belongs in the hall of fame is preposterous however. he isnt among the top 400 non hall of famers in war. just from his own team, there are more deserving players not in, like nettles and guidry. and from other generations of yankee catchers, elston howard, is likely the best player not enshrined yet, excluding the obvious banned players, a few steroid users etc. jorge posada was more productive than munson on offense, but its a toss-up overall between munson and posada. there are soooooo many more deserving players not in (ill rattle off 15 great ones if any reply asks me too). and in general, the hof probably could benefit from higher standards, not lower ones. i get that many of you love him. if you come at me, bring any type of objective fact, not some nebulous "heart and soul of the team, why do you think his empty locker is still respected in the clubhouse, and think what he might have done if... i mean he was so young". well, he was 32 and his knees were shot. his ops in his last 2 years didnt exceed .714. he would have had to become a dh, and he wouldnt have even held a job in that role. the premise that he had good seasons in his future is false and stupid to believe. he was AT MOST, the second best american league catcher of the 70s. he won an mvp in 76 when he was the third best player on his own team.(according to metrics, and rational analysis). i have no personal problem with munson, but people who lobby for their own heroes rather than the most deserving candidates would ruin the hall if they succeeded. lets get elston howard in.

you are 100% correct and bring great point, i dont go by numbers but i understand exactly what you mean. and unfortunatly i did not see howard play( i saw him as a coach) I agree with you on netles!!! and i also think luis tiant is another who deserves being there. i think if you have ortiz, munson should be in. thank you. you have valid point

Unfortunately you are clueless. Thurman Munson was ROY and an AL MVP. He was two time World Champion and knew the game inside out. He was one of the greatest competitors and one of the best clutch hitters of his time both during the regular and post seasons. In the 1976 WS he batted over 450. Yankees lost that series but if the other guys in the lineup had performed Munson would have been the WS MVP.
Munson is a Hall of Famer along with Fisk, Berra and Bench. The players today can't come close to being the ballplayer Munson was.
