Great reaction! Top tier BABYMETAL performance right here... in my humble opinion. From Moa's opening choreo, to Su's phenomenal vocals (and everything in between), it is just so emotive. Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘🔥❤️

Cool you're following this special set with this unique version of the second part of the Trilogy Of Lights.🦊🤘🔥
Our princess of Nagoya can play the guitar for sure, in this occasion looks like she did play but for some reason the sound didn't come out from the speakers. SuMetal also "played" the piano at Budokan 2021.
She dance gracefully in this and she can take your breath away. The two of them are the spotlight because this is really intimate, after Legend S 2017 they didn't performed as a duo and this was the only time they performed this together with no backup dancer around, all the other versions are with the full trio.
For me this song talks about the two of them finding each other after such an odd times and MoaMetal is that shining light on the road, the light at the end of the tunnel SuMetal needed to keep travelling her road, now boundlessly together.
Some fans think this is like a tribute from Moa to Mikio (our beloved Kami guitarist who sadly passed away) showing him how she became a young adult, not only beautiful but also skilled. She learned some lesson guitar from him while being on tour.
Btw this version is also special because it was recorded at BabyMetal Arises: Beyond The Moon - Legend M 2019 MoaMetal 20th Birthday in Nagoya , MoaMetal's birthtown, more cool things happened there.❤
YuiMetal had a undisclosed health issues when she stopped to perform with the group, after that in October 2018 (almost a year later) and probably already recovered (we don't know if it was a physical condition, we can only guess) she decided to end her participation in the group making an official statement and thanking everyone, she said she would like to come back as Yui Mizuno but till this day she didn't show up with any other job, thou she still under Amuse agency or at least she still on Amuse artist profile list.
A couple of years ago in Metal Hammer magazine someone closed to YuiMetal said she didn't want to follow with BM and wanted to pursue her own dreams, so for me that's clearly a sign she wasn't interested to stay in this project whatever the reason, but it's all good, we will always love her for everything she has done, out tomato princess.🍅❤
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time with Arkadia.🦊🤘🔥

Thanks for taking the recommendations to watch this particular performance of 'Shine'. This one was special. Not only the song's debut, but the truly heartfelt performances from both Su and Moa and the symbology of the guitar at centre stage with just the two of them.
Su and Moa performed the whole of the Legend S concerts in December 2017 as just the two of them - Yui had to pull out from performing there at the last minute under her doctor's advice, clearly too late to arrange any supporting dancers.
From then on Su and Moa always had the support of dancers (the two Muscle Metal girls throughout the 2018 tour until Yui made her announcement just before Dark Night Carnival at the end of October. For DNC they had 5 dancers and then for the rest of 2018 one of them, Saya, took the third spot. From the start of the 2019 tour the Avengers were there in the third spot).
This performance with just Su and Moa and no supporting dancer was clearly a deliberate choice - the Avengers (Riho on Day 1 and Kano on Day 2) were dancing in support for these Legend M concerts (Moa's 20th birthday), but not on stage only for this one song.
As the second part of the Trilogy of Lights 'Shine' is about coming to terms with the loss of someone close, accepting the reality, being thankful and remembering what they had with whoever they have lost.
I don't care if there has never been any official or otherwise confirmation whether this was a tribute to anybody ... there has equally never been any official denial of it being a tribute, so we are all free to interpret the songs and performances of the Trilogy of Lights as we like. The symbology of the guitar being centre stage, Moa's and Su's incredibly emotional and heartfelt vocals and dance and then finally turning and leaving the stage and the guitar - this is the acceptance of the loss and my own interpretation is that this is clearly an homage.
That said, 'Shine' is right up among my own top favourite BABYMETAL songs - I knew I would like it just from the few seconds of a very shaky fancam video I saw of this performance, I didn't know I would like it quite as much as I do.
I also think this may just be Su-metal's finest vocal performance to date ... but she is incredible and so good every time, so who's to say if that is true and who's to say what heights she will reach in the future.

the symbolism of the guitar being center stage with Moa and Su was definetely deliberate as well as no dancers being there this song was special to them you could see it immediately. This was probably my favorite song from su vocally if that makes sense she was just electric shes still very young with a lot of room to grow so who knows how far she can actually grow!

Nice reaction. One of my personal favorite performances by Babymetal. Moa said later that she felt so connected to Su during this performance it was like they were holding hands the whole time. Fir a band mate to feel that way after years of performing together is a big statement. And goes to show that even after years there is still more room for bands to grow in someway. Su's vocals are amazing and she pours her heart into this performance. Love the two of them walking off together. Epic. Felt like a message to the fans as well. Su and Moa will continue on. Next song they let us know they're not alone and they're taking everyone to Arkadia. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises

going through a loss can really bring people together with yuis departure and the death of Mikio going through that had to be insanely hard im glad it brought them closer its easy for people to either give up or even take a break but they kept it going that's passion and love for their fans and i can dig it!

    Good reaction, thanks!
"Shine" is one of my favorite songs and I consider it one of Su's finest works as a vocalist (specially the part you replayed). And this is my favorite live performance.
This is indeed the second part of the Trilogy of Lights and it's about the intermediate stages of grief: bargaining and depression also known as the inflection point.
This is from Legend M, Moametal's 20th birthday celebration, held in Nagoya in July 2019.
Legend M was the song's world premiere and they decided to perform it without the designated avenger (Riho on day 1 and Kano on day 2), adding the acoustic guitar in the center of the stage acting like a pivot for the whole choreo.
The situation you described actually happened but not this time. It was at Legend S (coincidentally Su's 20th birthday celebration), Hiroshima, December 2017. They performed as usual there, only that they did it without Yui. Even the crowd helped them by singing Yui's parts. Watching the Blu-ray was a tough experience for me. So, I can't even imagine how hard it was for them.
    Until next time!

this was the live debut of this song which was special because it was Moa's 20th birthday and the song is a coming to terms with a great loss, it can't be a coincidence, that the guitar was similar to the guitar that Mikio (RIP) gave to Moa, he was also her guitar teacher and she stopped taking lessons after he passed and focused more on dance, they have played this song a few more times after this with an Avenger dancing the third spot and it is still quite beautiful but not quite as special as this performance.

A lot of this seems to be speculation.
I'm not aware of any interview where Moa, or anyone else on the BABYMETAL team mentions her getting a guitar from Mikio, or taking lessons with him.

Excellent reaction, and it’s great that you did the Legend M version as well! I agree with other commenters that, this by far, is one of Su’s best vocal performances. It is absolutely beautiful, passionate, and soul-piercing.
In my interpretation, this song speaks to the miracle of having someone/something in your life, and ultimately, this memory will stay with us as the light shinning our path forward to our hopes and dreams.
This performance, in my opinion, continues the tribute to Mikio and/or Yui in this manner. It’s especially poignant how Moa’s choreography seems to have her yearn for that guitar centerpiece. Almost as if it’s so close, but unreachable. At the end, they leave it behind to move on, while the lyrics speaks to the shinning light that’s forever with us.

Thank you for this reaction. There are many historic bands, but only two IMO that have one song, let alone multiple songs I would rank above a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Su-Metal’s voice is simply Angelic and I prefer this style to others. Shine is in my top three Babymetal songs, if ranking is even possible. There is only one Su-Metal from a vocalist standpoint. Of course there are others I adore, but she is unmatched in clean and pure vocals. ❤️🦊
