In Sons of the Forest Kelvin can die permanently, and there is no way you can revive him in-game. But Here is how to save Kelvin or Virginia by editing game files in Sons of the Forest
Locate the Sons of the Forest save file where Kelvin is dead. Your saved file default location is "User\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves
Locate the file in this folder called GameStateSaveData.json, and open it with Notepad.
You can do this by right-clicking the file when highlighted, selecting Open with, then selecting Notepad. If Notepad isn't there, click on more apps and select Notepad.
Once opened, press Ctrl + F to open the find box and type robby to locate the IsRobbyDead\":true line. Change true to false so it looks like "IsRobbyDead\":false, and then save and close the file.
Locate SaveData.json and open it again using Notepad. Press Ctrl + F again to open the find function and copy the line: TypeId\":9
Somewhere close by, there will be a search code saying "State\":6,. Change the 6 to a 2 to look like "State\":2
Close by again and look for \ "Health\":. My data looks like \ "Health\":0.495044351. You need to change the number after the : to 100.0. Make sure it looks like \ "Health\":100.0,.
Save and exit and you are done. Kelvin is alive!
You can revive Virginia the same way you did it with Kalvin but instead, in GameStateSaveData.json, search for IsVirginiaDead\":true, and change it to false. And in SaveData.json search for TypeId\":10 and follow the same steps as above.

Here is some more help if anybody else had issues like me:
1 - If your save folder only has a 'SaveData.zip' file, you can extract it to the same folder and delete the .zip.
2 - In your 'SaveData.json' file, scroll to the right on the same line of where it says "TypeID\":9" to find where it says State\":6. If you still haven't found it, then go to the line below, starting on the left side. The same is true for the Health. (There also seems to be 2 cases of where it says "TypeID\":9" on the file, it is the FIRST ONE)
3 - If you can't find where it says Health, it may not be there. (MINE WASNT THERE). I just added it in manually and it fixed it for me.
\"Stats\":{\"Health\":\"100.0\",\"Anger\":20.0
Make sure you paste that in the correct spot.
(My Anger was also set to an incorrect number so I changed it to 20, I'm not sure what this does but I did it to be safe. Maybe check your other stats too)
Hope this helps and please correct me if any of this is wrong. This is just what worked for me. :)
OH and if your save folder is very different with things missing or text missing in files such as 'Robby', Load your world, and do a new save. New save should fix it.

Thanks for helping me get back Kevin! Had a giant war with so many cannibals, big and small, at some point he died in the crossfire I guess

Thanks a lot! I also had kelvin's anger and fear stats set to ''NaN'', so i changed them to 0.0 and he is now functioning as normal.
Thank you, some cannibals raided my base and when I was finishing off a brute that was killing Kelvin and I swung at him and then killed Kelvin. I was devastated, Kelvin helps me build and get resources as well as keeping me company in the single player world, I do have Virginia but she only uses guns and doesn't strive too close like Kelvin does. So when I found this video and modified the values and it worked I was so happy. I usually don't like modifying the game to my advantage, but I made an exception because its my best bud.
Me and a buddy has Kalvin dead weve done all the steps but he wont come back
Thanks for the video. But one question , if I lost Kelvin on one side of the map and then came back to base, saved , then did what u said, where will he spawn? Because on the map I can still see him somewhere around the place he died at
There's no stateId for Virginia for me. It just says, "playerkilled" after it. She's at the veryyy bottom. I made one change and I'll dink around with it for now.
So what if mine doesn't have the health option? Got everything else except that. Looked for 30+ minutes and cant find it
Thank you. I needed to bring him back, as he mysteriously died the other day and found him just standing there. Really sucked. I'm on day 122, and have enjoyed having him around. He is such a big help. On another note, Virginia keeps giving my weapon back to me. Not sure why
@@Subscribe I was able to get her to keep it. I gave her the shotgun and then grabbed another from the grave site. She hasn't given it back yet. If I give my handgun to her, she still gives it back. It's almost like she knows I suck at the game and need it more than she does. lol

kelvin is just in the knocked down position like he needs to be revved but i cant rev him. He cant be killed or do anything. IDK what to do, please help

So that kelvin o virginia is not afraid of you, and if parts of the Json file are missing, there is an application in the Steam guide called "Revive Virginia or Kelvin - Sons of the Forest (without Hard Feelings ❤) " that solves it!, greetings! I put the name because it did not let me share the link.
How come when I try and save in the GameStateSaveData it doesn’t just overwrite what I have changed instead it wants to create a separate folder? New to computers and all this so sorry if it’s a stupid question.

my issue is my app it is iffy on searching things it makes the angry noise a few dozen times accepts it once, but it won't work for health
there’s no stateid for virginia for me. the only typeid 10 in the save is the one with playerkileld after it
I did everything on the video... And Calvin is back... Kind of. He is basically just laying on the floor face down and making some movements.

can you increase the health over100 or is it a percentage based thing?
@Subscribe I want to try and make him be able to walk through walls, he keeps walking into the corner of my base and running in spot into the corner. I'll ask him to follow me to get him out but he immediately turns back around to run in the corner again lol
My file content doesn't look like this? It doesn't say anything about Robby or Virginia and yes I'm in the right file.
Man died from a log that I threw off a cliff, bounced off the pile he was collecting into holders and murked him. Followed this and now both of them are gone and typeid\":9 doesn't exist anymore when i never changed it, guess I should've backed up but I planned on restarting anyways lmao
This no longer works when you get to the gamestatesave the code is locked...
yeah this worked, i initally made the mistake of keeping in the "\NAN " but after i deleted it i restarted and kelvin was back sat at the fire
I set it all up in the multiplayer and when I wanted to enter the server it won't load the loading screen, it keeps it until the end and it won't let me play help

@@Subscribe Everything went smooth was buggy at first for others in the lobby everyone just had to restart solved any issue it had thanks again. I was border line raging at myself for killing him a cannibal came from the top ropes and he got chopped instead lol.
i find the typeid 9 but after that i cannot see any state 6 and any other state 6 i find does not have health 0.0 after them
I did find the State 6 code but could not find the Health location as well

It says "Cannot find "kelvin" ???? I went back into the game and double checked to see if he's dead...he's dead. lol What am I doing wrong?
I accidentally killed Kelvin by hitting him with a log. Then when I went to revive he was permanently knocked down, but not dead. "E" key wouldn't allow a revive. I tried changed these lines of code and it worked and he stood back up, but he wont follow me and he wont take orders. He's just stuck standing there. I tried to chop him down and kill him and the game wont let me. Looks like Kel is forever frozen in time.

nvm i fixed it, his health was set to NAN or sum like that so i went back in and changed it to 100.0 and it works great, would be so pissed if he was dead, since he died of a glitch were i couldn't revive him

I tried it in singleplayer and i have the same problem
Discovered a simple app that can revive them without having to edit the code. Worked perfectly, found through steam you get it through a discord server. Sorry I don't have the info atm, once I do I'll add it here if yall haven't found it yet.
Kelvin is gone. Even Virginia is gone.
