You're welcome and thanks for watching! Check out one of the other videos from my channel (czcams.com/video/muj6O-4s5UM/video.html) for help. It's a full breakdown and reassembly of the 450ssg. They're essentially the same.
Hope this helps. Subscribe and spread the word. More vids to come.

Mate the reason the grease has turned black is because the cheap Chinese pot metal gears are slowly chewing themselves to pieces and combining with the grease.

🙂 I'm not sure that's the reason, but that's as good as any. My 550SSG has been hanging tough after tons of yellowtail and mutton snappers.... although I did have to replace the line roller bearings once.... twice may be coming soon. More vids to come.

I like those diagnosing videos. Are you using after market ball bearings?

Boca bearings. If you're going to replace...upgrade.
Also it's not a good idea to force a reel to turn. If it's hard to turn take it apart and find the issue.
      Good vid...just some tips

Unfortunately the anti-reverse part for most older Penn spinning reels are discontinued meaning all these reels will become obsolete and unrepairable. It's Pure Fishing's (the owners of Penn) way to make you buy a new Penn reel that's now made in China and not built to last.

Thanks for checking out the video. It's the new" way of the world. Long gone are the days of built to last. However, if we take care of our reels, such as these, they'll still last us a very long time.

I kinda have the same problem but I’m not to sure, whenever I cast in heavy current and when I reel it back it makes a noise in the handle it feels like something is stuck in the handle, I hope this makes to you. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. Did you watch the video and then check the same areas in your reel? If so, was it the same, or was it something else?

Thank you. Do you know where I could get that pinion bearing? Could the bad one be cleaned up? I have a Spinfisher 4500 V.

Question - I have the BG4000, which I dropped in the lake and only submerged for 15 minutes. Also I had dropped it twice fishing on the banks. Now when I turn the handle it seems very loose, and not catching the rotor, which does and does not spin.
Note - As is turning the handle the rotor does not spin, however if I push the handle in (towards the right), the it will catch the rotor and then it spins.
    What could be the problem?

Thanks for checking out the video. Have you taken the reel apart?

    • @Unplugged704
      @Unplugged704 Před 2 lety +1

@@TSGReelService Yes I did. It looks like the plastic piece that holds the screw for the oscillating gear, broke off and the screw still attached! I just looked up the schematics for the BG4000, and they don’t even show that as a part. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I think from watching his video here that that screw goes directly into the body. So you need to buy a new body. @@Unplugged704

I took my Penn back to the shop, didn't mess with it as that would void any chance of a refund.
Please people don't mess about opening it because as soon as the shop sees the screws have been opened you can kiss goodbye to a refund.
Anyway I had a refund for the Penn and used it to buy a different brand.

Thanks for checking out the video. Glad to hear you were able to get a refund. That stands to reason.... if you're going to return for a refund, there's no reason to open it. Thanks for your input.
