You dont build from the draft when Mathews in his prime. You improve your current roster by any means neccesary. None of these picks will make a differance for atleast 4 years and thats if they hit.

Why draft a player to maybe play in your bottom pair? Maybe top 4 if you're lucky. Dime a dozen players that can be had in FA and can be acquired for a 3rd round pick at the deadline.
Guy has insane transition stats so him not putting up a ton of numbers means nothing to me. Could be a little thing king. Brett Pesce is everything goes right.
This is true but there is always a game plan for a franchise to aquire such young prospects. So I would not stress on this move. Only in historical speaking the top 5 of a draft are NHL ready. It is good to build depth especially if moving others out, be it the Leafs or Marlies

No... it is a totally different staff, AGM's, scouts etc. Pretty sure MLSE can get better than minimum wage staff, as well. Solberg is a LD. Danford is a RD with similiar stats. Both were ranked to go anywhere from 1st to 3rd round. So there is that. Plus they have an additional pick, you have no idea who it will be. Cowan was picked 28th last year and was ranked in the 50 range. I suppose you think that was a stupid pick too.
