I actually liked the HB sounds better, more clarity. For a warmer sound just adjust the tone control and add some bass on the amp, or so

The HB is cleaner. Squier is muddy and full of mids. I have two HB's that I'm very happy with JA60 in vintage white and a Benton Blue DC junior. I enjoy both of these guitars. They record well and sound great for live gigs. Los Angeles

Mate that riff is so nice. Where’s it from - very dire straits esque

You think so? I don't think there's a huge difference actually, and if there is, it's not necessarily in favour of one or the other. I actually sold the Squier and kept the HB, probably mostly because of the aesthetics and the slightly smaller size and weight 🙂

@@rednebb Well, your up-close-and-personal impressions are gold compared to my distant observation, no doubt about it. And let's not forget the magic that happens when an instrument nestles into your hands - it's like a musical love affair!
Listening to that video, I couldn't help but feel that the Squire had a bit of an edge - in a good way, of course. It's funny how some instruments, especially guitars, can have this wonderfully rich sound that makes your solo jam sessions an absolute delight. But, here's the kicker - when you toss them into a musical potluck, sometimes things get a tad, shall we say, unruly. It's a bit like those folks who find Yamaha pianos a bit on the chilly and flat side until you pair them up with a full-blown orchestra - suddenly, they're the life of the party.
So, I had a similar vibe with the Squire. As my musical journey continued, I started leaning towards instruments and amps with a more neutral tone. But hey, that's just the beauty of music - it's a journey full of surprises, just like life!
