My doctor put me on meds for high cholesterol. I am 79. I saw some negative things going on in my body and memory. I took myself off the meds and it took some time but my memory is getting so much better. My thoughts on those numbers supplied for the blood tests are a bunch of crap. I told my doctor that if they would stop changing the numbers, there would be a lot less people doing the pill highway. I feel good and whatever happens I want to enjoy the rest of my life.
Is this true? I'd love to use red yeast rice!
I am not worried about my high cholesterol. Older adults with high levels live longer than those with artificially lowered cholesterol. Look up the studies. Cholesterol is of major importance in regulating our immune system. Every cell in our body has a cholesterol need including and especially our brain. You must consider relative risk vs absolute risk when assessing studies that claim that statins are “ the bomb”. Also, since EVERYONE is on a statin, why is it that heart disease is still the number one killer in America. Huh? Doesn’t make sense.
I am so glad someone wrote this comment. Its what I wanted to say but was too lazy to take the time to do. We do need more doctors to get with it and learn the truth about Cholesterol.
You're absolutely correct!!!
I 100% agree with you!
That's because doctors are trained in Rockefeller medicine. Dirty up the body with 💉💊 then they have a solution.
Can't agree more.
I lowered my cholesterol 40% with diet and exercise. So yes, diet and exercise does work.
I did same! RedYeast Rice is a no brained if you have elevated LDL
With what kind of diet and exercise you lowered your cholesterol please
Whole Foods Plant Based helped me. No oil
@@Cherish..2 thank you dear
True, but for the disabled and pain sufferers among us, Red Yeast Rice might be the only viable option.
Liked the way he jumped right to name instead of taking half yhe video.
That was fabulous. It is so refreshing in this age to have a professional tell it like it is.
The camera never blinks, and you most certainly passed with flying colors, doctor.
Stop worrying about cholesterol. The medical establishment need to do their research. We’ve been lied to about this, among other things.
Agree! Our food industry doesn't help in being transparent either.
My cholesterol level 260 after diet ,eating healthy food, most them to lower my cholesterol and I did exercise..after 3 months going down 189 ..😊
Did your Dr want you to take statins and what all did you eat and drink?
What healthy food did you eat?
Fantastic! Well done, you.
You have to learn about colesterol before you talk about it! Your colesterol levels being lower after eating as you say, eat healty and exercise is not the reason, you can't influense your colesterol very much, not with food anyway, your liver makes the colesterol the body need! You can reduce this with statins not with food! . The total colesterol level in body changes all the time, based upon what your body needs. This is partycularly important to know, to understand how important colesterol is for the body and cell function. The brain eks contains almost 30% colesterol, used to serve the neurons. Colesterol is 100% your freind, not enemy. Just ask and i will tell you more about colesterol!

@@Kjuken69 and you have to learn how to spell cholesterol LOL, sorry, just kidding
Dr. Clayton, thank you for making your videos, you are greatly appreciated. There is some confusion on which supplements are a waste of money as stomach acid destroys many supplements. I would hope this would be a treat topic for a future video.
Thank you for helping us ❤
Thank you very much Doctor. I'm on amlodipen high blood pressure pill and my doctor gave me a stating now I'm always tired and get cramps . Thank you for this information.
Thank you for that blessed video
I enjoyed this, thank you Dr Clayton
Thank so much very helpful. Thank you for your time.
thank you for your wisdom my friend.
Thanks so much for the valuable information and love the way you thoroughly explain it. 🤗
Great information Doctor, it was understandable and easy to follow. ❤
Glad it was helpful!
thank you for the info. i will be looking into it then talk to my dr and see what he thinks.
Hello Doctor, my question is: after starting this suplement, when I can expect the first visible results, and this is not because I'm in hurry, bit just because I want to have all the answers with me, when I take the subject to my cholesterol doctor,
Much appreciate your videos, I find them so much on point
Blessings
Thank you for this information. My doctor just suggested this supplement today, and this was helpful.
THANK YOU.. THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE SEEN ON HIGH CHOLESTEROL.
Except the link to a specific product is like trying to sell something. and according to WEBMD and other professional websites, red yeast rice is just as dangerous as statins: muscle weakness, cramps with kidney problems to boot.
My doctor has suggested the statin drug for my 131 high cholesterol. He gave me atorvastatin 20mg. I took it for about a week and already felt muscle weakness. I just ordered the Sylvan product. Thank you for your video.
Isn’t 131 normal?
@@talktowintaONE SIZE FITS ALL! That's literally the system.
131 is low mine varies from 225 to 250
Great video ! Becareful when you are helping people stay healthy! The drug companies don't like it!
I've been a Herbologist for over 30 years and strick vegetarian.
Great video! Stay healthy and keep educating people.
I just ordered the pills. Thank you for providing the link!
Thanks for your support!
Thank you very much for the video. Learnt about citrinin.
Thank you very much for the information Doctor. Trying to parse out the latest research and recommendations is a full time job in of itself. Shouldn't we making a distinction between LDL's and VLDL's in terms of overall cardiovascular risks? It is my understanding that VLDL's due to their small dense structure, lack of buoyancy and oxidation potential are the real culprits but, only in the presence of gross injury. Statins, as I understand them, do very little to have a meaningful impact on absolute risk reduction with regards to VLDL's. Will simply lowering LDL's through any supplementation mitigate risk so long as endothelium injury continues?
Just watched this and Thank You
Thx Doc for this awesome info 🙏🙏🙏 I do not take statin at all. I’ll look forward to getting this supplement.
Red yeast rice functions the same way as todays statins by inhibiting the mevalonate pathway. Its just not as strong as today's statins, reducing the risk of side effects. But it is a statin you will be taking.
Fantastic information
Quik Question: NATTOKINASE, whats your opinion? Thank you.
I have subscribed to your channel.
My question is keto, low carb high responders usually gets high Cholesterol,LDL . Your thoughts re instead of worrying about cholesterol level, instead your thoughts on cholesterol divided by HDL level,as I have learned and we want a result of less than 1.5 or 2.0 YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT..? In my case I got issues on K level, thanks for mentioning the potassium and the other toxic contents related to liver and kidney.
Cholesterol has so many important functions .... So why lower it and risk death ... one job of cholesterol never (almost) talked about is that cholesterol kills and lowers fungus .... fungus which causes arterial blockage .... so if we get fungus .... then cholesterol goes up to help us remove the fungus ... therefore lowering cholesterol can be dangerous ... and high cholesterol patients (PAYtient$) live LONGER ...
Thank you Doctor Dave for this wonderful information. Many people will be saved and helped with this knowledge
What an incredibly helpful video! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic video, thank you! I’m generally healthy (48F, 5’7, 121 lbs, BMI 18.9), but my LDL & total cholesterol levels are atrocious (close to 300😭). It runs in my family and definitely genetic. I already eat healthy and work out every day. I do NOT want to take statins. I have been adding a lot more fiber to my diet. I have been seeing a lot that Bergamot and red yeast rice are good supplements to take, so I will be trying them as well. What I really appreciate is that you are very specific (what brands, how much to take, and when best to take it). Invaluable info. Excited to add this to my stack and recheck my cholesterol in 2 months to see if there is any improvement.
Just wanted to ask, will red yeast rice negatively impact triglycerides or HDL? My numbers here are borderline bad (140 trigs, 58 HDL), so I don’t want to take anything that will lower HDL or increase trigs. Thank you!🙏🏻
Thanks much Dr. very helpful will check these out
Thank you so much Dr
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HONEST DISCRIPTIONS OF THE CONDITION AND BOTH WAY REDUCING THE LDL ❤ I TRUST YOU BETTER ❤ I WILL START USING IT ❤
Sounds a bit risky all these supplements
Thank you so much, great video and information
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Great info
Hello Dr Dave! I’m unable 😢 to take red rice yeast supplements as I get muscle pain from it. Do you have any tips on what I can take instead? I would be very grateful! Thank you for your wonderfully detailed and informative videos! Greetings from Germany 😊
I just placed an order and do you suggest taking a Coq10 supplement as well? Thanks!
Thanks 4 ur video
Thank you for this video ! Much appreciated! I do have a question for you. If you are taking ED pills such as Cialis. Is it still OK to take the red yeast supplements ?
Thank you, Dr. Clayton 🥰
Thanks a lot Doc! This information was right on time! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much😊
Thank you doctor for this excellent video is very informative and helpful. Please come with more videos.I subscribe.
I am glad it works for some people. My cholesterol didn't lower at all unfortunately.
Same here
Try check yr liver. Doctor told me when liver got problem or fatty liver may problem to process medication.
Same here i didn’t use this brand but it did nothing to my numbers and liver was fine
dear dr Clayton, how one can be your patient ? Thank you very much Dr
Very interesting, thanks!
My pleasure!
THANK YOU!!
Cholesterol does not appear dangerous if it does not collect in the arteries. Sugar makes cholesterol sticky and collects in arteries.
Thanks for this insight. I haven’t had sugar for two months and I feel twenty years younger.
Lp(a) cholesterol is a very sticky cholesterol that is genetically inherited. I wish more doctors would test for it.
I have to kick the sugar I add to my tea, especially as I drink around 10 cups per day.
@@skygazer6898 Yes, you must! Just reduced the amount slowly over a few weeks. Once you get used to tea without sugar, sweetened tea will taste sickly. Believe me, I've done it. 😁
@@zazita7333it’s not about wishing! It’s intentionally not done for profit. Just checking cholesterol number doesn’t tell u that much, but it DOES get ALL people lumped together and on statins!!
VAP panel isn’t expensive and reveals much more, ie, particle size, etc!!
Side effect of Lipitor is Diabetes. Also, memory problems!!!
Interesting and informative video.
Thanks for watching!
My sister took statins for about a year and started forgetting lots of things and so did a friend of mine.....statins are no good.
I had this same side effects. Scary! I would forget where I was going when driving
Not good
Great information except that I have been taking a Red Yeast brand that wasn't included in the research. I haven't had any problems but noticed it has extra ingredients...just wondering if you have heard anything about the Weider brand. I will definitely try the ones you listed here.
The first one looks decent. Rice and gelatin for the capsule
But the heart one?? Soy?
Dave Clayton, MD, Great video. Can you tell us why our liver makes so much LDL, there has to be a reason correct?
Thank u Dr.Dave 👏👏👏
Dr; do we need to take or do you recommend coq10 with it? Thanks
I always believed in red yest rice. I told my doctor that I wanted to try red yest rice first before I went on a stain, The next time he checked my blood it was so much better, He asked again what was I taking. He wrote it down. It works,
How did you take it ?
Which brand of red yeast and what’s strength to take per day?
@audreypistor4610 ~ May 2024 - Can you update us here? There are some questions in the comments. Are you still feeling well & has your blood levels stayed low? 🥰
I wish I had found this video before I ordered Thorne RYR. Any comment on the Thorne product?
I understand that this supplement is not to be taken with synthroid for hypothyroidism after a thyroidectomy. Is this correct? Thank You for any info you can provide
Hi Dr. Clayton. I am in Canada and take Red Rice Yeast Plus by "Organika". I am wondering if you know anything about this brand?
I have had a lot of success lowering my LDL with Praluent, a PCSK9 inhibitor. Should I continue taking red yeast rice? I have been taking it for years, but I didn't realize tht the brands differed so drastically until I saw your video.
4 kind Hinds of ldl, fluffy, intermediate or medium chained, small particle and micro particle LDL
so they have you injecting a drug called Repatha , I would never take that crap ,its so unnatural
I’ll also hear doctors recommending niacin which I believe is B3 what’s your opinion on it or are you better off with the red rice?
Dr. Clayton, so the LDL went up again with the Red Yeast Rice I took. I ran out, and now I'd like to ask if I use either of your suggested products would I need to take the Ubiquinol COQ10 with either of those products? It gets pricy. With the statin I still need COQ10. PLEASE ADVISE before next weekend to make my order. Thank you.
Hello. Thank you for your informative video on Red Yeast Rice. I just recently heard about it through several sources and I’m confident it will work on cholesterol. I looked up the Sylvan product and noticed it has carrageenan, which is a carcinogen and I’m very sensitive to that. Wonder why they put that in there. Do you have any thoughts on that? Thank you for informing us about these natural remedies to improve our health.
There is not carrageenan listed in my bottle of Heartshape?
About 15 years ago I went in to severe liver failure due to red yeast rice's Lovastatin type compound. lt did indeed lower my cholesterol about 50 points, but I came close to needing a liver transplant.
That was dangerous
Yikes
I just read when taking certain statins not to take red yeast rice.
Curious what dosage of RYR you were taking? And were you taking it along with a statin?
I was taking RYR instead of a prescribed statin. It's been a long time since I was using RYR, but I believe I was taking 2 OTC capsules ( unsure of mg),@@Komponents
My doctor recommended red yeast rice with cq10. I though because just liked cq10, but saw mention that red yeast rice decreases cq10. Anything to the issue with cq10? Thanks
I tried that. Had the same side effects as I had from Statins, low energy, irritability, muscle loss.
I took Red Yeast Rice for over 9 months. It did not lower my cholesterol. I read some brands remove the cholesterol benefits. HeartShape sounds good. Great video.
I tried to, too, and it did not worked
try life extension brand
All it did for my was make my bilirubin go up.
Thank you so much for this video. I looked quickly at both of the supplements at the end for the video. It looks like Sylvan Wellness, Red Yeast Rice has Carrageenan as an other ingredient, I'm trying to avoid this ingredient as there have been some reports of possible inflammation to cancer?
Just buy the Red Yeast Rice in powder form. Measure the amount you need -- doesn't need to be encapsuled but put w/ applesauce or a thick juice like tomato, carrot, or a blender-made drink.
Because caragean ? Are you asking if caragean can give you cancer ? Thank you
Should we lower the ApoB? Many doctors say it is more important than LDL :(((
I’ve been working At getting my blood sugar down and low and behold my cholesterol went down too. Ldl dropped 45 points and hDL even went up! Limited sugary foods and processed foods. More paleo/keto leaning. My A1c dropped into the normal range too. Yay
I'm happy to hear about your health improvements! Any particular tips or part of the video that helped you? I'd love to hear about it.
Any recommendations on brands?
Thank you for this video and for the product suggestion. I have been using something different, but I’m going to try the product you recommend.
Dr. Dave, thank you for this video and naming brands of ryr that are effective. For years I have been using brands from India which state 3% monacolin K content which is not discussed by you for fear of being censored by FDA. police. I know it is effective since my lipid panels are great, when I first started my doc suggested statin therapy, no longer. The brands I use are one third the price and work. I arrived at this therapy after much personal research and found that not one product in the U.S. will state monacolin content, so one must try and see if a product works. Thanks for your work, I'm sure there was some trepidation in making such videos. Michael
Please help us and tell us how you got it, the name, and where?
Do you know if the ingredient monacolin K is still in most of the supplements out there? Thank you.
Is Jarrow or and Life Extension brand good brands to take?
Great video❤
Thanks for watching!
So if lovastatin doesn't cause me problems, is it safe to take like RYR? Is atorvastatin similar to ryr?
Best advice for someone with late stage fibrosis/early cirrhosis???
Thank you Dr. for the presentation. Looking forward to more. God bless 🙏.
More to come! Thanks for watching!
Are there any reasons someone, like me, should worry about taking red yeast rice, if the individual is on levothyroxine for thyroid removal?
I took red yeast rice for several yrs, did not change much but I still refuse statins and my doctor is well aware that no amount of talk will make me change my mind.
How high is your cholesterol? Mine is 250
A heart attack or stroke will change your mind if you get a 2nd chance
Same here. Won’t take them. The side=effects are horrific.
My cholesterol is just over 200 & my doctor wanted me to take a statin. I refused based on side effects and he didn’t push it, but he noted in my file that I refused.
Heart Dr. told me if you have high cholesterol doesn't mean you have damaged arteries ?
I buy mine at Costco Weider brand any thought on these have taken them before and they worked but my dr put me on Repatha going to stop it and go back to RYR
It was very informative Doctor, May God bless you more Thank you 🙏
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and your kind words.
excellent video. I tried red rice before and sadly i was slightly allergic to it.
Bummer! Sorry to hear it. Thanks for watching!
Thankyou!!! Wonderfully enlightening. Unfortunately neither product is available for delivery in Uk. I found the closest product by Golden Naturals. They claim .... "However, the guarantee '100% citrinin-free' can never be given completely, so we will not do that. But don't worry: the amount of citrinin in food supplements must of course always meet legal requirements. European legislation (Commission Regulation 2019/1901) prescribes that the citrinin content in foods may not exceed 100 µg / kg. Golden Naturals red yeast rice products always contain less than 100 µg / kg citrinin"
Can you offer any comment on this point?
Hugely grateful for your observations.
If it red rice and has to be fermented- What about drinking some nice SAKE that already has gone through these steps! Could this work too?
Question one of the products contains carrageenan isn’t this bad for human consumption what’s your thoughts respectfully thanks
What are your thoughts on taking Pantethine for lowering cholesterol?
It works great lowered my cholesterol from 250 to under 200
How long did it take?
Hi Dr. Clayton. In the FDA report on Cholestene, are they insinuating that Mevacor (lovastatin) was added to the red yeast rice? Is that the case, or is all the lovastatin naturally occurring?
is it generally safe to mix statin with this supplement.?.. id like to at least reduce the MG i am taking of the statin thannk you
I had the same muscle / body pain from Red Yeast Rice. I thought I had bone cancer from the pain and weakness from Red Yeast.
Red yeast rice products that contain significant amounts of monacolin K can have the same potential side effects as statin drugs, including muscle, kidney, and liver damage.
Does RYR lower your pulse rate when at rest. I have bradycardia extremely low pulse at night.
100% TRUE, doctor said my lifestyle changes is not helping its genetic 😢
From South
Over a decade ago, I delved into this path and invested in red yeast rice supplements without success, having spent hundreds. I discovered that the US Drug Administration restricts even traces of Lovastatin in these pills. Are the pills you mention available in America? As of my last check a decade ago, I could purchase actual red yeast rice from a Chinese grocery store without US regulatory intervention. However, the repackaging process in these stores introduces uncertainty about the content. I still have some from that time, which I grind into powder for coloring in cooking. Despite doctors giving up on me due to high cholesterol and elevated CK levels, I'm serious about my question: Do your recommended supplements contain Lovastatin, and how did they navigate US Drug Administration scrutiny? Additionally, have you explored the option of using actual red yeast rice? Thank you in advance.
Wow! This is the best CZcams review about replacing statins with a supplement. I have a request. Please review and analyze "Clean Nutraceuticals COQ10 200mg Red Yeast Rice 3000mg." Otherwise, I am tempted to test your recommendations.
