  • Is this the best city in Brazil?
We explored Balneário Camboriú in Santa Catarina state.
This is an upscale city also known as the Dubai of Brazil.
Our adventure includes taking the bus from Florianópolis, and going up to Unipraias park Camboriú. Check out this episode of our Brazil travel vlog!
00:00 - The entire world can be found in Brazil? Seems like it!
4:42 - Usually, we don't like theme parks -- but this one is awesome
8:45 - Impossible to say our favorite place in Brazil! Too many to name :D
11:11 - Officially looking for real estate in Balneário Camboriú (just kidding we can't afford it)
18:16 - Milkshake that comes with a fork? What? lol
Stay tuned for more Brazil travel vlogs, including Brazilian food vlogs, and some deep dives into the history and culture of Brazil. Of course, we will be heading over to Rio De Janeiro for some beach life (and more drinking and dancing, we'd imagine) and then into the Amazon rainforest to capture some wildlife. So, in the end, lots more good content to come from Brazil!

When I lived in London in 2004 everyone was going to Dubai for vacations, nobody even considered Brazil, always wonder why. Living abroad, I knew how wonderful Brazil was. The international media has a prejudice against Brazil, only showing our dark side, as every country has; maybe that's the reason we don't receive as many tourists as we could.

However I've heard there are many Muslims who manage to live quite peacefully in the bigger cities, and feel mostly welcome; I do certainly hope so; there's something heartwarming about this country, and everyone is welcome here, as long as they love peace. in central Brasil two other places worth visiting are Bonito and Chapada dos Veadeiros, if you like amazing natural landscapes these two are a must! and finally, if you go north/northeast you can see the Lençóis Maranhenses, the island of Fernando de Noronha and some of the most beautiful beaches we have in the country ✨

It has big-ish city vibes whilst still being small enough that you can just walk most places. It's the type of city where most people are from somewhere else, so there's an openness to outsiders. Also, you'll find something to do almost every day and any time. I think I loved Vancouver when I lived there because there was somewhat similar energies, and they are definitely the 2 fav places I've lived, even tho they are both expensive to live in xD . Btw, we don’t know who gave this city the title of “Brazilian Dubai.” I know some of you don’t like this kind of comparison (of this city or any other place in Brazil). But the titles existed way before we came to Brazil. We heard of these titles from the locals actually. And believe it or not, some are proud to say “We have Dubai in Brazil!” or “We have Japan in Brazil!” And I think it’s not because people like to make comparison. Rather, it’s because there are similar characteristics between the two places. Like when a city or municipality declares its “twin cities” which is common in Europe. But we agree that each city is unique on its own❤️

This comparison with Dubai was very annoying, Balneário Camboriú was called the Brazilian Dubai solely because of the high buildings being rapidly built by the beach, it is one of the few places in Brazil where the city hall allows tall buildings, it does not serve as a comparison. It was always a hidden gem where people from the south had beach houses and apartments for leisure, Brazilians from other regions didn't even know that Balneário Camboriú existed until recently, with this media advertising, city is now with many internal migrants from the poorest regions of the country in search of earning money.
