Stone Town 🇹🇿 oldest part of Zanzibar City 4K

Stone Town is the oldest part of Zanzibar City. A unique old town that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The flair of the late 19th century still characterizes the buildings today, although most of them have seen better days. There is often a lack of money for renovation and so many buildings are at the mercy of decay. Narrow, lively streets that look like a huge labyrinth. If you walk through the alleys of Stone Town, you will often not feel like you are in Africa. Oman has clearly left its mark here. From 1840, Stone Town was the residence of the Sultan of Oman. Ngome Kongwe is a 17th-century Omani stronghold. The largest East African cultural festival takes place here every year. Not far from there is a very special highlight for us, the Freddy Mercury Museum, the birthplace of the famous Queen singer. If you lift your head in the narrow streets, you can see St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Roman Catholic church built by French missionaries at the end of the 19th century. Our mini bus was waiting behind the Darajani market, here you can buy fish, vegetables and fruits as well as all other daily necessities. Even if we don't show the sights in full here, you can hopefully get an impression of what a tourist can expect here.

Danke Friedhelm für das tolle Feedback, ja es macht deutlich welche Probleme es in Afrika gibt, während wir hier in Deutschland nichts anderes zutun haben, um die Welt zu retten. Die Menschen sehnen sich nach Wohlstand und denen ist die Abgasnorm noch sowas von egal,. verständlich ist das , wenn man sowas sieht, oder ?
