Hey Craig. Great job on these videos. I love your channel! So being "almost" a senior, turning on the backswing seems a little more restricted than it could be. So I was in the back yard today with some practice balls and a 4 iron. I know 4 iron can be a tough club to hit for some. So when I was hitting it really well, that was a good sign.
So here's what I did. I took my normal setup. Next I drew the right foot (back foot) back to close the stance. I brought the club back inside the line as the closed stance allowed me to do (and makes it a lot easier). Then I discovered something. And I'm wondering if this is related to Hogan's comment where he said he wished he had 3 right hands..... So with the closed stance I found I couldn't turn fast enough in the downswing and my body literally couldn't "go left". In other words no matter how fast I turned, when I turned, my body "faced" the target at the end of a balanced follow through. I could not face left of target if I tried... physically. So I found that I was not only hitting the ball straight and solid, but I could turn as fast as I wanted and really "thrash" the ball and it was being hit real solid. The turn was the kind that swept the grass real nice and along the target line. So if I didn't "turn hard", I think my shots would have gone to the right. And this is where I was wondering how so many seniors have ugly looking swings but they hit the ball 250 down the middle.. they all turn hard. Maybe the closed stance was getting my backswing into an ideal "backswing slot"??? Your thoughts?

I love this...i tried it and it works.. it is also a tad stressful on the trail shoulder in the follow through when they're not use to stretching at that velocity. oh to be young again..

I think for 99% of amatures myself included, we fear turning away from the ball, we stand stagnant and use our arms...its good to see this confirmation you can't really get better without that trust. the few times I've attempted to load up, the left knee bend felt like a loaded spring...I just can't do it consistently. Thanks for a great video...

@@CraigHansonGolf My coach already suggested the foot/ankle movement. But keeping the head still will ruin more golfers, especially older, less flexible ones.

  • @edandkarendamadio4108

The advice is great, but you have to understand that those of us over 80 lack the flexibility to swing like you suggest. Lord knows, I'm trying. I'm trying to maintain a 12 handicap at 88, and it's not easy.

      it’s about improving isn’t it?
Or do we give up? - It’s a shame. In every video i mention people doing there best regardless of age, regardless of ability.
becoming the best player that you can become, even if that means improving 10%, 15%.
I never once mentioned or expect, super senior golfers to swing like young superstars.

Hi Craig, Great video, really appreciate the info on the left foot rolling. And the right! My queestion is about HackMotion. I went to their website and it seems to me that their feedback includes only address, top of backswing, and impact positions. What about the post impact position which you have several good teachings on?

You can set it on any area. You can create your own corridors. You can set it on 45-55 degrees of left wrist extension and swing through and find the position it will
make a sound inside this corridor
