  • Idorenyin Obot Akpabio Came into the den seeking N20 million for 25% of Aideology Interstate Game, a board game that teaches children about Nigerian history and geography.
    But do the Lions think this is a business that can scale?
    Lions Den Nigeria is a business reality show that gives budding entrepreneurs across Nigeria the chance to pitch their business to 5 successful Nigerian investors, referred to as Lions.
    These Lions are looking to give back to the society and help Nigerian fulfil their dreams and ambitions. As such, if they see the potential in the entrepreneurs’ business, idea or products, they will invest in the business, in exchange for some equity in the business.

    Is it just me or does anyone else count it as a win for many of these guys who didn't get the funding they came for but got sound, clear advice on the path they should take for their business or those that got just mentorship?

    Paul likes to think about everything that could go wrong before taking a step. He's the type of investor one would want to shake his ideas off before running with it. Bolaji on the other hand is quite confident in what is a good business idea from experience (I believe).

    Adenike has not been able to make investment decision on her own. She either talk down people or see them as competitors to her business, follow other lions on investment decision or back out with them.

    I think he got this idea from the monopoly game. I like it, though I also believe it should go digital but this shows how much we are willing to invest in education as Nigerians

    The cost of production should be reduced and he has to reduce his profit margin to about 50% instead of the current 100%.
    Those issues aside, it's very creative, innovative and nice. The cost just has to come down as his target market shouldn't be just the likes of Grange Schools or Rayfield Schools.

    Most people pitching don't usually come out with a clear business plan for why there need investments and don't even talk about how they intend to scale in a business way. Usually most of them pitching dont understand the business side of project and focus only on the money part. Nevertheless, I salut Nigerians for the great minds they have.

    The Pricing was the challenge! The Product should have gone for Urgent 5k since cost of producing 500 was @3500/unit. He would be able to Mass Produce 10000 for less!

      @ceejhay8367 Před 4 dny +1

      My point exactly. The moment I heard the cost per unit I thought- an Igbo guy would start selling this stuff for 4500, and he'll sell out quickly

    Akpabio you can get a Lion. You need a simple answer. You are racing to scale so you push costs down and price drops to cover a large market. Then digitalize this game.

    That's a great game but mama for me to walk you down that step we are going on a date 🥰.
    That product has potential to sell more in millions but that's product could be online too for kids to compete online with endless games coming up cause that book card there for me thinking like a kid after playing all the physical card game can start getting boring you know

    • @realotobi
      @realotobi Před 2 lety +2

      I also think it's a great product that can move millions of copies annually, even as a physical game. But the production price will have to drop seriously for that to happen. I feel like if he could produce that game at a 900 Naira price point and sell around 2000-3000 Naira. And a great marketing strategy. He could move 10-50,000 units monthly. Many parents want to reduce screen time for their kids anyway, but they won't pay 7000 Naira to do that in Nigeria.

  • @temidayor
    @temidayor Před 2 lety +5

    I'm concerned no one asked how the production cost could be beaten down. The cost of printing these could come down if there's a plan to reach the 1 million target... and removing the packaging from the box for a smaller way... I think there's a better way around this.

    • @lination8428
      @lination8428 Před 2 lety +1

      The production cost was actually delineated on.....Which one of the lions added that the higher the demand of the commodity,the lower the cost of production....Which is a very vital point he made there...

    • @EliasBakare
      @EliasBakare Před 2 lety +1

      One big challenge here will be the nightmare of distributing across Nigeria. The margins can’t be sustained once the games are shipped - the selling price will have to head northwards and the demand will fall. Reducing the production cost is largely a function of increased production quantities (taking into consideration inflation and FX - for imported papers to produce), the margin will be swallowed up before you know it.

  • @ONdedigwe
    @ONdedigwe Před 2 lety +3

    There is a viable business here. But the target market at the current unit price is small and it would encourage easy competition. I believe they can work things around cost of production to be able to capture more middle income population. Digitizing the game is a great idea, glad they are thinking in that direction already - operating analogue and digital places the business on a good pedestal to capture a sufficient part of their SAM. Nice 👍

    • @the_game7

      I don't think digitizing this kind of game would be a bright idea, the experience would not be as good and any review online would be based on the digital version
