@@RealTorch from this video I realized that the opening of the hooks of the tailgate lock is carried out by the "brake chamber" (air). Interesting to see the rest of the system in action, how are these hooks held under tension (spring)?

@@GLT26 the air pressure from the brake system holds the latches closed (default position). There is usually springs to assist the rod in returning to the chamber when air is removed, causing the latches to open.
If you pause the video at 1:49, you can see the mechanism in detail. (Notice the rod coming from the chamber, the cross-bar in behind, and the latch assembly to the right of the box rail)
The pushrod is attached (offset with a pin to swivel) to a bar that goes to both sides of the truck. When the rod goes out, it rotates the bar (where the latches are attached) to move the latches up and down.
