- BMW E92 M3 POV Drive & Talk. Driving the Last True BMW M3. In todays video I highlight a tastefully modified BMW E92 M3 and take it for a drive with the owner. The owner of this beautiful BMW M3 also owns a 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV thanks to my content influence. I feel the E92 generation M3 is the last true M3 model BMW's M Division has created. It is the right size, was offered as a true 2 door coupe, choice of a manual or DCT gearbox and a glorious NA V8 engine. A perfectly balanced machine in terms of power, handling and feedback. Ever since the shift to the F80 in 2015 and now G80 the cars have become bigger, heavier, turbocharged and lost so much driver feel and raw personality. Yes the newer models are faster in a straight line but also harder to manage that power safely. Balance was always a key attribute of every M3 model since the very beginning. The new G80 is pretty much a 5 series in M3 drag. They now made it AWD to make it safer to drive because the power is too much for the chassis in RWD form for most drivers to harness. Let's not forget the infamous M3 name now only designates the 4 door sedan while the two door is called the M4. Today the new M3 & M4 models use an ZF8 speed automatic with mediocre shift programming that does not engage anywhere near the older DCT and SMG models. Almost impossible to get a 6 speed anymore in any of these cars except the M2. The historical magic formula of the M3 is forever gone. The NA V8 engine in the E92 BMW M3 is truly a remarkable and special motor that will never be recreated by any automaker today or in the future. I love mine I almost thought about selling it recently but the more I looked into it made me realize I would be an idiot to sell it I got the inline 6 I think best motor ever built but I love the e92 beautiful I don't think I'll ever part with mine now why won't it let us post bamber I was going to show mine off

Beautiful spec. The Blue over brown is perfect . The carbon under the hood is great. V8 coupe, BMW's dont get much nicer than this. Hope you enjoyed every moment of driving this german beauty.

Totally agree, the body lines , front & rear end , N/A V8, I mean look & listen to that thing compared to the new ones, definitely gone down in a number of ways.
Now I am actually thinking of buying an E92 for this upcoming summer. Definitely wish I knew how to do all the work myself but I am close to someone who can so that’s a big plus.

I own a 2013 328i and I love it. The twin turbos keep it quick and tight....but now my sights are set on this new machine! I'm definitely keeping an eye out for this M3 with the V8. Prices aren't too crazy either!
When I got my ‘13 E92 Comp and coming from a N54 E90 with the Performance Power Kit back in the day, the first thing I noticed was the lack of immediate bottom end torque of that silky smooth inline 6 motor which I had grown to love. The S65 though is a keeper.
That is one beautiful car, very nicely modded too.
This is the best example of an e92 m3 so badass. The only other e92 I can think of that’s is equal to or better is OG’s e92 m3. Man this thing is so clean😮💨🤘🏻🤘🏻
i think this M3 is way nicer due to the color spec inside and this one actually gets driven A LOT at the miles indicated and look how clean this car is with the 100k miles on it, true dedication to the owner.
The engine sounds a bit different to mine and I can't figure out why. I'm assuming the exhaust has been tastefully modded? Or is it just that its been driven in the 4 to 8k rev range throughout 😂

Couldn't agree more. I had 2012 E92 Comp pack in 2011. Kept it two years and traded it in on a B7 RS5......HUGE Mistake. Ended up trading the RS5 on a W204 C63 507 Edition. Loved the Mere. However, I've been QV for the last 5 years. While all unique in their own right, the QV is the best overall car.
yah the QV is such an awesome car i still love an prefer NA engines whether a V8 or V10 or V12 however the Qv does have some character that really makes you forget NA
Ha, I have an 08 M3 and still have it but at one point bought a B7 RS5 as well. No comparison, the RS was a better everyday car I guess but the M3 is way more fun. Not to mention the RS was in the shop like 6x in a year.
German cars in general can be nightmares with repairs my E60 M5 was a shop queen with among many others ive owned.

Brother you hit the nail on the head. American cars for some reason is made very poorly. We have a 2010 E92 sport package car and that car is outrageous. Just incredible. Love the channel.

yeah these cars still look current for the most part the only aging part i feel is the dash center stack and door panel design but everything else looks current. Is your E92 modified or stock?
@@autofanaticcars Mine is modified but similar mods to the M3 in your video. Major difference is I have a carbon fiber hood for less for weight and vents since I track mine every now and then.

Totally agree that they lost their edge after this, the E92 was the last true M car, the newer ones are just basically modded 335s /M340's it sucks to pay that much more and just get a tuned engine instead of a bespoke one.
I partially agree with you but the E34/E36 were the last “true” M cars if bespoke engines was the metric to judge those engines by. They were the last hand assembled engines (S38b36/8) (S50b30/2) by the M division before mass production starting with the E39 and E46 respectively. The history behind the S65 and S85 is incredibly interesting though considering the R&D BMW had at that time due to motorsport.

any of the newer models will be heavier, quieter and toned down this is just what manufactures are doing these days so it all depends what you really want in a car. Also for 2022 Alfa Romeo discontinued many options which sucks in terms of interior, colors, carbon fiber packages etc.

You need to try the Alfisimo GTAm springs and GTAm Suspension ECU. Much better ride and handling than stock.
tried the module it is not compatible with my car and the Kw DDC kit constant fault codes and it did zero change to my car, on a standard car it does feel good.

Not sure what part of America this is but the weather looks awesome, what about cup 2s tyres, it rains way to much over here in England, even in yhe Brighton area, which is meant to be better! But yeah, if I was in a warm climate cup 2s all the way!!!!! 😎
Cup2 are the worse tires for most streets in the USA, we are in the NYC suburbs so the roads here are horrible with gravel and the Cup2 are a crazy tire. I took them off my Shelby Gt350R and it made the car so much easier to drive.

I disagree with the notion that the ESS supercharger kits ruin the car. Centrifugal SCs maintain the S65 character and power delivery perfectly. It’s not about chasing big numbers. They don’t add much to the low end and a SC E92 is far from the fastest car out there these days, but it just feels like it has the “right” amount of power for the chassis. I’d keep it NA for a track car due to potential cooling/heat soak issues, but on the street a boosted S65 is absolutely delightful. My 2c after 8 years of DD ownership and significant mileage at NA, 550, 625, and 650 levels.
i drove a blown E92 like 11 years ago and it ran horribly due to tuning issues so I have not driven a properly sorted kit on these yet maybe one day I will.
@@autofanaticcars Oh yeah, proper tuning is critical on these kits. Definitely find one that is done right and report back!
I didn’t say it in the video, but for me I think the SC route to go is the Harrop setup with the roots style charger. It doesn’t give as much power gain, but plenty enough over stock, and you get the glorious whine. I had an SC Mini Cooper S with the smaller pulley, I loved that whine, so I can’t imagine paired with an amazing V8 at 8500 rpm!
@@johnbaglione3442 Supercharger whine sounds so much worse than ITB induction noise, would ruin the sound honestly.
One thing worth noting on the SC builds, whereas you are correct RE the centrifugal design maintaining the torque curve characteristics, the additional weight where the plenum usually sits along with the accompanying oil cooling upgrades. These additional accessories unbalance the car over that front axle and although some weight saving can be done to mitigate it’s effect on the overall balance, it never truly maintains it’s OEM handling characteristic. I believe this is why some opt the route of stroker kits emulating that of the E92 GTS.

They are overlays, made by venoxy. I chose the lit up M option and deleted the kph so it is less cluttered. I also chose the e46 color option

This car is loaded but the only thing is missing is the 6smt I😂 love the dct but no automatic transmission can't beat the feeling of 6smt or manual transmission in general
I love manuals for sure and have driven so many of these with both and since this engine has such low bottom end torque the DCT seems to work better to keep the power band at peak on local backroads versus any human using the clutch but either way any variant of these cars is awesome even the sedans.
I’ve owned both, DCT is much better for these cars. Unless you’ve driven one you have no reference point.
No question, this is very cool. Fantastic looking wheels, great interior. Its awesome. I'd take the Giulia QV over this, if I had to own just one.

E92 prices are crazy in 2022 I’m looking at a 2013 comp 52k miles 7speed dct for $38k wondering if that’s a good price any advice would be appreciated
@@S62Uce that’s not the craziest price I’ve seen. As long as the big 3 maintenance have been performed, anything under 30k is a good buy.

@@joseenriques5791 hey Jose, they are stack gauges, oil temp, pressure, and battery voltage. Purchased with the car and then I machined the rings out of aluminum and added them.

Love everything about it except the ugly yellow calipers and yellow stripe on steering wheel. I don’t know why people like yellow with blue. It would have looked better with red or black calipers.
