Odyssey ECL 2.7m Build Summary

  • This video show what's involved in building the Art Hobby Odyssey ECL 2.7m electric glider and the skills and tools needed. It also show some of my mistakes, so that you don't have to repeat them. I ordered the glider with the recommended motor, prop, spinner and servos from Art Hobby.
    The manual contains step-by-step instructions, but not all steps are included. Some are implicit in the drawing, for example. Others are missing altogether, such as the flaps servo bay and control horn routing. Art Hobby sent me the Silent manual, which did cover the the missing topics.
    NOTE: The flaps has the hinge immediately under the bottom (not top, as I say in the video) side.

    Hi Johan. Congratulations for nice video. I saw that you guide the pushrod for flap or ailerons over the top surface of the wing (or extradós). In all the art hobby sailplane that I built, I routed the pushrods for the wing ailerons and flaps below the underside of the wing. Do you explain what is the better way in order to have best deflection of the movil surfaces?

    • @johanbergkvist8834
      @johanbergkvist8834  Před 3 lety

      As the flaps mainly go down, the hinge is at the bottom of the flaps; that way there's no gap when the flaps are not deployed. To get the best leverage, the control horn goes on top. The ailerons goes both ways, so it's easier to use the underside.

    Hi. Thanks so much for this. I'm building the Adventure, so this helps a lot. Question: Was there a reason for joining the wings prior to cutting the ailerons/flaps? I'm just about to cut and I'm not sure.

    • @johanbergkvist8834
      @johanbergkvist8834  Před 2 lety

    • @johanbergkvist8834
      @johanbergkvist8834  Před 4 lety +2

      Easy. It's the spinner, prop, motor and ESC recommended by and bought from ArtHobby. So the motor is an ART-1300, 35mm spinner, 12x6.5 prop and the Talon 25 ESC. I pair this with a 1300 3S DualSky LiPo (www.modelflight.com.au/dualsky-eco-s-lipo-battery-1300mah-3s-25c.html), which fits nicely inside.

    • @johanbergkvist8834
      @johanbergkvist8834  Před 5 lety

      I don't. The pushrods are loose in the pod under the wing. They are attached just behind the servos with glue (glued at 8:03 in the video) and then loose until they reach the balsaboard in the tail. I hope that answered your question?
