Noon silent stepper drivers sound really interesting for the first 10 seconds. Then they just drive you crazy.

Now I know why is my whole CNC machine vibrating and buzzing louder than my neighbor drilling into a wall in the sunday morning. 😂

cuz the driver is an idiot

.... Comparing full step with 1/16 microstepping.

    •  Před rokem +2

The traditional stepper driver was set to the maximum microstep, what it can handle (i think 1/16). The trinamic can handle higher microstep ratio, thats why the rotation speed of that motor is lower. They both are driven with the same frequency.

I think I'd prefer silent steppers to having a synthesizer orchestra on the desktop.

You can't play music stepper motor with silent stepstick :)

Why do they even still have the old ones

    •  Před měsícem +1

      The old ones are cheaper

how about running them both at the same speed ? because it was obvious the TMC was running at much lower RPM.

    •  Před rokem

You are right, they are not running on the same speed, the drive frequency is the same, but the trinamic driver uses higher microstep value. If the speed would be the same, the difference would be still huge since the trinamic doesn't have a sound, but the traditional driver has still a considerable noise (definitely lower frequency as you can hear on the video, but still very noisy!).

imo normally running at faster speeds is quieter lol, shows how good trinamic is

my tmc2209 steppers are still loud as hell?-

set normal speed for "silent" driver and it will be loudly

Hi what changes you made to the shield /jumpers for tmc 2209 to work

    •  Před rokem

Hi, No change is needed on the shield. There are two pins on the TCM board going down for communication. I only cut those pins back.
