To answer your question, the dying knight was indeed the one who dropped the corpse with the key into your cell, as you probably noticed the Asylum Demon was also on the roof of the asylum, combine that with the fact that there's a hole in the roof above the knight and you have some fairly good environmental story telling. After freeing you the knight was found by the demon which proceeded to slam him through the roof and into the cell below where you find him with only moments left to live. He passes on his estus flasks and will to gain the knowledge of the fate of the undead to you. In a sense, that knight is responsible for your journey and all you accomplish.
Something else to think about. That estoc you picked up was indeed weaker than the axe you were carrying. But whenever you pick something new up, check out it's moveset. The estoc, for example, can be used while your shield is up. Or consider that daggers/rapier/estoc have lower base damage but are better if you're backstabbing/riposte
I’ve been looking for the now often elusive very first SoulsBorne play through. So much of it is me going “No, not that way!” You’re doing great and at least your not reading chat and talking about stuff that has nothing to do with the game. Thanking CZcams for the rec.
Also, to jump, you must be sprinting first, then press the jump button. So whenever you want to jump somewhere, you need to have a small space to pick up speed so to speak. There are several places that you can jump to that hide items. In fact, I am pretty sure you need to know how to jump to complete the game.
Watching him go to every single late game area that he possibly can before going to the first in-game area which most players immediately see is like watching a train fly off the tracks. Great to see someone paying attention and reading everything that will help you out so much. You're doing great for your first souls playthrough! Killed the boss the first time, nailed the parry the first time. Keep it up, glad I found this channel!
This was so exciting to watch. You did very well for your first souls game. Always remember dying costs you nothing in the end. There's always more souls and humanity, though the latter is harder to get. Lock onto enemies, backstab any humanoid, kick shield spammers, keep your shield up going around corners. You're doing great dude.
I’m four minutes in and I’m already invested. The virgin voyage into the original is like nothing else. I’ve been debating getting remastered and dumping more hours into this black hole and I think you’ve convinced me with this.
Playing these games blind is an absolute must in my eyes. It’s so much more gratifying to discover things for yourself. This game and the world begs you to discover things, uncover more mysteries. My entire first play through was blind and it was absolutely brutal but I’d never have it any other way. I have friends who say “omg dark souls isn’t even that hard wtf!” While they look up literally everything in the game of how to make a build, where the weapons are. It’s just cheap to me.
@@sunnyjim1355 you magnificent son of a gun. This was a fantastic reccomendation thank you Sir! Now if you will excuse me for about 40 hours or so while I catch up ...
I usually don't comment but since there're not many people spamming tips.. Locking on with RS is the first thing new players need to get used to with every enemy. After you've locked you'll get the get of the mechanics down yourself.
I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said by others when you first played this, but just let you know how amazing of a first let's play this is, it reminds me of my first souls experience with this same game too back when it was released on PC, I will never forget how it raised my standards for truly great games.
Best of luck and I really enjoy that sweet, calming menu music. It's funny really. Dark souls is hard as nails, but it has a certain calm about it that I enjoy too. I'm so glad you decided to play this game!
That moment when you find new CZcamsr to watch, check their videos to see if they abandoned Dark Souls and see that they are half way through second game :) I'm gonna need more popcorn.
The seemingly universal experience of heading to the graveyard and being confronted with extreme difficulty, and either thinking it’s where you’re meant to go, but you are bad, or making you give up altogether. It is all because of ineffective marketing. This game was marketed and touted as incredibly difficult, so when difficulty arises, people new to the game think it’s supposed to be that way. In reality, you don’t need to step near the catacombs for a rather significant portion of your playthrough
I thnk that the game is telegraphing very well where you are supposed to go at the beginning, I really don't get the people who won't try to go towards Undead Burg when confronted by very difficult ennemies everywhere else.
@@targard.quantumfrack6854 Well, it would depend on level of skill, and experience with souls likes. If someone was seeing this game being constantly touted as incredibly difficult, they may immediately think that they are meant to be met with difficulty everywhere, and that the game may not be for them. It’s ultimately their fault, but I can see it happening to some for sure. I personally explored Firelink Shrine, found myself in the graveyard wondering why these enemies were constantly being revived, and I was frustrated. My knee-jerk reaction was to watch the first episode of a walkthrough, and from that point on, I never was confused as to where I should be going. I figured something was up, even if I did hear the game was meant to be difficult, because to me, difficult didn’t mean unbalanced.
@@braedenhunter6501 I explored Firelink as well, had my ass kicked by the skeletons then tried the obvious stairs with managable ennemies... Had I tried to take the elevator to New Londo before, I would have been wrecked by the ghosts and then tried the obvious stairs with managable ennemies. Once at Undead burg, I ground a lot to beat the Black knight and once I got the halberd, I was unstoppable.
The crestfallen also has a lot of information of you exhaust his dialogue. I was victim of this mentality you mention on my first playthrough, and was mind blown when I stopped to listen to him on my second.

Nice work man ! You're doing great and have figured out alot by yourself.I'm sure other people will tell you this too but please use lock on,it will save you so much pain and suffering. Also, when it comes to weapons, every weapon has a scaling. When you press X in the menu and go to stats of the weapon, the scaling is ( from best to worst ) - S,A,B,C,D,E Basically, scaling gives you a bonus in damage. So if you have a weapon that scales an S for dexterity,it means you will get a massive bonus damage if you have a higher dexterity ( and the same goes for every other stat ). When it comes to shields, press X in your menu to bing up the weapon stats and look to the right side of the menu where it says Damage reduction. There you will find out how good that shield is in physical damage etc. Sorry for the wall of text by the way :D Keep up the good work man :)

Playing DS for the first time is such a great experience. It is awesome to watch and see someone go through it - bringing back your own memories. I was particularly shit at the start. Took me like 20 deaths just to get to the Undead Burgh bonfire. :)
Now think about me who played dark souls for the first time without even knowing english, i know the game doesn't give you much but the little it gives is very important, and not being able to understand that made it even harder. I didn't even know what level up meant much less what the stats did lol.
@@jacobharris5894 Yeah i suppose, but people that have played rpgs before would have somewhat of an idea. But i was talking more about the dialogue and item explanations, whenever a door was locked i didn't know if it was because i didn't have the key or if it was because you could only open it from the other side.
Alright, let me just say... i was bored, found this playlist, and decided to click it for some light entertainment. You had my total interest peaked the moment you blurted out Blighttown as your first destination rather than the Undead Church. You finding the way to Undead Burg was such a delight. The absolute joy in your voice when you found enemies that you could actually kill was phenomenal haha. This is a great first episode for the playthrough it was so interesting seeing what the thought process of someone who went the wrong way at first. I had someone directly tell me which path to take completely unprompted my first play through and didn’t get the chance to have that experience. I have wondered what it would be like to do that first play through ever since one of my friends bashed their head against the graveyard/catacombs repeatedly thinking it was the correct way because the only thing he knew was that dark souls is hard, and by god the graveyard checks that box haha.

I really like your personality, and after seeing all the other blind plays you have to offer, you better accept that I'm not leaving any time soon 😁 and please please please continue the series.
Ironically those initial suggestions really hamstringed you. While the master key does allow you early access to some places there isn't really anywhere you can't get into eventually anyway without it, and you can learn pyromancies regardless of class later on.
The recommendation for pyromancer as a starting class probably had less to do with the actual access to pyromancies but more so to the fact that it’s the lowest level class, at level 1, giving him the best access to creating a character that suits his plays style.
@@lukes101010 Honestly? Idk about that, the difference is generally pretty negligible. I've found it perfectly fine to go from a wanderer or thief to an armor wearing ultra greatsword wielder eventually anyway. It might be slightly faster but not by a teeth grinding margin.
Super happy CZcams recommended this! Love seeing new players discover the game and really get into it. Also your attitude is awesome! Happy to keep watching
it was very entertaining watching you struggle about in new londo ruins. its funny that they put a mid-late game area accessible right at the start. looking forward to watching the rest of this, as you have a very calming personality and are actually taking the time to engage with the game (i see most people just rush without reading anything or investigating the area).

I liked the "is there a map?" :p Such a great game, even 10 years later. The feeling of being lost in there is amazing.
Way late to this but, excited for you on a blind playthrough. Definitely like how chill you are.
"at least the game's gonna be nice to me.."
Game "hold my beer.. "..
Just seen thid part of the video and i thought: Oh sweet summer child, Ornstein and Smoug will -CLEARLY- help you out, yes
"That boulder that came down the stairs will come alive and attack me". Fromsoft listened to you and put that in elden ring!
Probably the best part about all of this:
"I just want to get to Blighttown"
**Runs away from Blighttown**
I’ve been looking for the now often elusive very first SoulsBorne play through. So much of it is me going “No, not that way!” You’re doing great and at least your not reading chat and talking about stuff that has nothing to do with the game. Thanking CZcams for the rec.
I don't stream these let's plays! No chat to distract me :)
Also, to jump, you must be sprinting first, then press the jump button. So whenever you want to jump somewhere, you need to have a small space to pick up speed so to speak. There are several places that you can jump to that hide items. In fact, I am pretty sure you need to know how to jump to complete the game.
"Maybe that's not Blightown, because it's just a house of ghosts and pain" I love that I found your playthrough. I fell in love with these games!
Watching him go to every single late game area that he possibly can before going to the first in-game area which most players immediately see is like watching a train fly off the tracks. He's highly observant, but notices everything except the most obvious thing. If he actually stuck through this and beat New Londo that would be HILARIOUS. He'd deserve an award for perseverance.
He won’t beat new Londo it’s physically and virtually impossible without getting a certain ring from a certain boss
"I wanna make it to Blighttown" - tries to clear New Londo XD
Great to see someone paying attention and reading everything that will help you out so much. You're doing great for your first souls playthrough! Killed the boss the first time, nailed the parry the first time. Keep it up, glad I found this channel!
This was so exciting to watch. You did very well for your first souls game.
Always remember dying costs you nothing in the end. There's always more souls and humanity, though the latter is harder to get. Lock onto enemies, backstab any humanoid, kick shield spammers, keep your shield up going around corners. You're doing great dude.
“Just a house of ghosts…and pain, and suffering”
*cathartic laughter*
Just when I thought I’d seen every blind playthrough on youtube!
I know the feeling.
Oh yeah? Check out the Morcar channel and prepare to die... laughing.
@@sunnyjim1355 you magnificent son of a gun. This was a fantastic reccomendation thank you Sir! Now if you will excuse me for about 40 hours or so while I catch up ...
Hey, I think you lost your key, Big Pilgrim. Luckily for you, this fine fellow might return it.
I was so confused seeing the 2y comments, like I forgot that dark souls was the reason I found this channel 😂
That moment when you find new CZcamsr to watch, check their videos to see if they abandoned Dark Souls and see that they are half way through second game :)
I'm gonna need more popcorn.
Yeah you can literally get all the lord souls except for nito's before even setting foot in the graveyard
34:01 this is peak souls experience dude, your first time you're so damn confused and then it becomes the funniest shit ever
I absolutely love this. I'm obsessed with dark souls and I'm always looking for fresh blind playthtoughs, the detail and pacing at which you play is perfect, please keep it up, play at your pace. One late tip, is play offline your first playthtoughs the bloodstains and player messages are BIG spoilers. ❤️❤️❤️
Just found your channel. Gotta say, as the blind playthroughs enjoyer that I am, and like other people have also pointed out in the comments, I really appreciate how observant you are and how you try to understand the game mechanics based on your experience on other games. That being said, I can't wait for yoy to get to Dark Souls 3 which is my personal favorite in the franchise. Well, time to binge-watch your other gameplays in the meantime✌🏼
Re-watching this after you've gotten so familiar with the series is hilarious lol
Found your channel through Elden Ring. Going back to the real games now. A blind Souls journey is always a great watch
The illusionary wall is a joke meant to confuse new players.
Nice work man ! You're doing great and have figured out alot by yourself.I'm sure other people will tell you this too but please use lock on,it will save you so much pain and suffering.
Also, when it comes to weapons, every weapon has a scaling. When you press X in the menu and go to stats of the weapon, the scaling is ( from best to worst ) - S,A,B,C,D,E
Basically, scaling gives you a bonus in damage.
Sorry for the wall of text by the way :D
Keep up the good work man :)
5:12-5:16 "He's happy. He's just happy to be here." "He's just happy to die alot." "That's for sure." "He's like, ha, I've got no idea about the adventure that's going to be ahead of me." "It's going to be so fun, no death." Damn right he is.
1:46:37 "that's shocking"
absolutely, but that's why I watch DS blind runs in the first place 😆
Going back to rewatch these during your hiatus this week. That's crazy how you went from hitting 1k here to being at 33k now. But I definitely see why. These are probably the best blind From Soft playthroughs out there.
oh boy you are gonna have fun with this one..... this is my favorite game of all time
Almost 3 years old, time sure flies, love this playthrough.
I love how this guy picked the worst routes possible to start his game XD ...
Mapocolops: "OMG those skeletons are strong, maybe I should go down to blight town, oh shit, those Ghosts are impossible, mmm maybe I should go up there... oh look how easy he dies"
Me: Bingo!.
I’ve never played either - it’ll be fun to see someone figure it out rather than the people that know everything about it. Let’s explore!
Don't worry about spoilers in the messages. People can't just put whatever anything they want. They're restricted to a few different combinations of words that the game gives you to work with. A good portion of the messages are trolls, or straight up lies though.
I just discovered you because of this play through. I knoe you play other genres but I love the Souls games and look forward to binging this and seeing play the other titles! New sub! Hope youre channel grows more and more man! Great stuff!
Watching this restored my humanity
Playing DS for the first time is such a great experience. It is awesome to watch and see someone go through it - bringing back your own memories. I was particularly shit at the start. Took me like 20 deaths just to get to the Undead Burgh bonfire. :)
Now think about me who played dark souls for the first time without even knowing english, i know the game doesn't give you much but the little it gives is very important, and not being able to understand that made it even harder. I didn't even know what level up meant much less what the stats did lol.
@@jhonard3021 Knowing what the stats mean is difficult even if you know English. I don’t how anyone figured it out without looking it up.
@@jacobharris5894 Yeah i suppose, but people that have played rpgs before would have somewhat of an idea. But i was talking more about the dialogue and item explanations, whenever a door was locked i didn't know if it was because i didn't have the key or if it was because you could only open it from the other side.
41:52 Welcome to the Souls series
45:24 Thats the spirit
Pd: Honestly you doing very well and have good perception
Alright, let me just say... i was bored, found this playlist, and decided to click it for some light entertainment. You had my total interest peaked the moment you blurted out Blighttown as your first destination rather than the Undead Church. XD I enjoyed the attempts but when you took that pause at 1hour 51 minutes and 55 seconds. i just about died of laughter. I know that your doing this blind, and i honestly dont remember how i never made that mistake of going to Blighttown first. RIP your sanity, you just got a follower.
That said you must, and I mean ABSOLUTELY MUST, begin to lock onto your enemies if you want a fighting chance at this game. Especially when going against big mobs of enemies
Just finished watching mapos elden ring. Looping back to what started it all
First time checking out your channel, loving the dark souls content mate.
Its so much fun to watch someones first souls experience.

“At least the game’s going to be nice to me”
Me: haha dark souls go brrrrr
Just started the game yesterday, happy to see someone sharing this experience
How are you doing so far? He just finished dark souls 3 so you have that to look forward to
@@thatguy1056 I have 80 hours in the game, but not done by a long shot.
Btw, my first DS character was also named That guy xD
Be sure to always lock onto enemies or else you'll get clapped rather easily, and sprint by holding B. Very happy to see you playing this game ^^.
You're reading all the item description from the get go. Impressive, it will help you alot.
A genuine first play is a rare thing. Really enjoying it.
hi, I'm new here. just wanted to watch some blind souls, but I for sure am going to stay for the long haul.
I really like your personality, and after seeing all the other blind plays you have to offer, you better accept that I'm not leaving any time soon 😁
and please please please continue the series.
42:03, ah, a classic darksouls moment.
I did the same thing the last time I played through DS1... despite playing countless times lmao.
"all I know is praise the sun" that is all one must know my friend.
As someone who enjoys all the details and descriptions of items in games like this I legit appreciate that you take the time to look at all of them
One of the best games of all time. I'll be keeping an eye out for this one and your RE4 playthrough which is also one of the best ever.
Awesome! Glad to see you checking in too
What about Dragon's Dogma?
I’m looking into this game always been one that I’ve wanted to play just want to see how difficult it is
here again to rewatch this series.
40 minutes in and I can tell I'm going to love all of this. You got a sub out of me good sir.
you are actually so sharp in your observations, dude... this is impressive
very late to this, but damn whoever told you "take the master key" should be fired. its more of a new game+ item
stumbled upon your channel today and I absoluttely love it. It's very enjoyable listening to you as well
"This guy doesn't look like a fatty."
*Waiting while trying to suppress laughter*
He's not the fatty. The demon who was permitted a sandwich is. *And he's still hungry.*
This is like a how to guild on all the places not to go first lol.
it was very entertaining watching you struggle about in new londo ruins. its funny that they put a mid-late game area accessible right at the start. looking forward to watching the rest of this, as you have a very calming personality and are actually taking the time to engage with the game (i see most people just rush without reading anything or investigating the area).
This is really fun to watch. A genuine blind playthrough. I really like your play style, you take your time and you're interested in reading and learning about things, it reminded me of my first time playing this game. Keep up the good work :)
Skeletons in other games: weak basic starter enemies.
Skeletons in Dark Souls: unfairly strong
They have to be strong to hold themselves together.
I bet put a chipmunk in the game that little bastard will drain half your health before you can say aww.
10/10 man.
whoever recommended the master key underestimated your stubbornness.
“I’m invincible while dodging”
Me: oh you gonna be in for a rude awakening
Actually the most important realization to have early on
