King Charles meets cancer patients in first public appearance since diagnosis

- The King insisted that he is “all right, thank you” when asked how he was getting on with his cancer treatment.
The King and Queen were chatting to patients during a visit to the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in central London.
The monarch, who was named as the new patron of Cancer Cancer Research UK on Tuesday, hopes to put the disease front and centre of his work as he returns to public engagements.
The royal couple arrived at the centre in the state Bentley just after 11am.
Both smiled broadly and waved to onlookers before greeting staff including Baroness Neuberger, chairman of University London College Hospitals (UCLH), and David Probert, its chief executive.

It is good to see a positive aspect of the monarchy among its people. Good to see KC and QC out and about.
They need to do more of this. In the past he regularly condemned Princess Diana for her philanthropic efforts, and it made the entire monarchy look bad. If he’d done things like this all of his life maybe public opinion towards him would be more positive. Many people already think he’s doing this for PR just because he has been diagnosed with cancer. Maybe people wouldn’t feel this way if he was doing this years before his diagnosis.
This is very touching. I wonder if this is the closest emotional connection Charles has been able to have with the public in his life up until now.

Assuming reports are true that KCIII has been diagnosed with Cancer of the Pancreas, it is not always 100% fatal, keeping in mind that it depends on the patient. Opera greats Luciano Pavarotti (tenore) and Marilyn Horne (mezzo-soprano) were both diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer around the same time, and Ms. Horne is still with us, currently aged 90.
