- King Charles revealed the "shock" he felt over his cancer diagnosis, as he officially returned to public duties today alongside Queen Camilla.
The monarch, 75, swapped stories and held hands with patients as he visited a cancer treatment centre with the Queen, 76.
The King, as patron of MacMillan Cancer Support, is making the trip today to highlight the importance of early diagnosis.
It marks his first public engagement since revealing his own diagnosis in February.
The Royal couple also aim to raise awareness of the innovative and tireless research supported by Cancer Research UK.

71 year old American grandmother and registered nurse. I appreciate all the focus that cancer care is receiving by what Charles is doing. I never heard much about the royal family here in America growing up except weddings, funerals and gossip. I started watching British news reports on youtube because of the late Queens jubilee. I have been so impressed at how genuine Charles and Camilla are. When you have been caring for ill patients and their families for 50 years you know how to read peoples faces. I pray he has many more years left to continue his good works.

KC and QC are such a great pair, caring for pther peoplech s ar suh a they are pair caring for others,, cfor otheret cetera. I like to watch them love each other so much, are very happy together. No sign of borring on they faces, Spending time together is a happiness. I wish them a very long time to be tgr. !😅❤

I have had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Been three years in remission. I pray that things go well for you, and King Charles and Princess Katherine, and all those who are/have/will battle cancer, as well as the family and friends.
I have cancer as well. Still recovering. This is so wonderful to watch. The King is so sweet. I wish him the best and pray he heals. It’s good to see him out helping others.

Amazing really ? Over the years I now see them as glorified fundraisers. I am sorry he is ill but he would not have had to wait ages for an ambulance to come, sit on a trolley for hours in a draughty corridor before he was seen by an overworked junior doctor, and have to get his drinks and food from a vending machine in A&E. Neither did he have to worry about whether or not he would get sick pay from his job, or indeed, lose his job.
This has me in tears. What brave people including the King.

'relate' is the all important word! The late Queen Elizabeth was beautiful and caring, however she seemed more distant to the 'every day person' and not so willing to have a chuckle like Charles is. Not her fault, she was simply from another generation. Hopefully, he will have a full recovery and carry on with his duties as intended.

Our King and queen: they look people in the eye, connect with them, listen with warm hearts, and offer support. They are wonderful. A speedy recovery for all the patients at Macmillan and for His Majesty.

Charles talking to the lady who has cancer like him and camilla talking to her husband about having a partner with cancer. Ultimately , people just need to talk and support each other , doesn't matter who they are or where they are from.

I have teared up watching this , doesn't it prove we're basically all the same , thinking of all these brave people going through treatment sending all my love to princess Catherine ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ and the king of course , I wonder if the queen and William have had their hands full with their spouses because after being unwell myself , I have a wonderful husband but I did play hell with him when all he did was take great care of me .

We are all happy she is r recovering and getting stronger each day, with the love & support of her husband, her parents siblings in laws, with her beautiful children around her. It was so lovely when she thanked all the public for the overwhelming kind messages she has recieved from all over the world. We are so lucky to have her can’t wait to see her again but we can wait m she’s worth the wait, and all we want is for Catherine POW to fully recover from her treatments. he's too busy making money by producing a documentary on polo... you know, priorities 🙄 When my father died, all of my siblings (save one who lived too far away) dropped everything to make sure we were with him 24 hours until he passed. Sadly, I happened to be the one to witness his last breath. Meanwhile, This One is too busy helping his wife hawk jam, pretend he actually does work for Invictus, and stays silent over the Africa Parks scandal. Harold whines about ill treatment from his family when he's done nothing in the last 4 or 5 years except do everything he can to be petty and vindictive towards them all. At this point, no one can trust him. And as some journalist said, H&M claimed the RF was holding them back in terms of the charitable work they wanted to do... so what are they doing with their time now that they left? Almost everything they get involved with is for profit. They've exposed themselves as the grifters they are, and the King luckily has a loyal wife, son, sister and one brother to support him.

Bringing focus to early detection and treatment of cancer is important and worthwhile work.
We all loved Diana but Charles always loved Camilla. It was royal politics that he was not allowed to marry Camilla and Diana was considered a more suitable choice. It has been a tragedy for all concerned.

Y'know, in a way, it's therapeutic for the king, to share how he feels daily, and talking to patients. Queen Camilla gets to converse with caregivers, sharing the struggles of dealing with a sick loved one.

King Charles thoroughly engaged with the patients, eager to listen to them, never making it "about himself", wonderful.

There are a lot of stigma, bias and wrong information about cancer that nowadays have no sense any longer. And that damage greatly patients, because (learnt on personal experience) to face therapies without panic and with positivity has an enormous impact on recovery process.
Moreover, to stress the importance to be check and of early diagnosis literally can save lives.
So great job by His Majesty, through his experience he can make a huge deal on these issues.

The compassion truly showed in the eyes and facial expressions of the King and Queen. I'm 72 from the US and was diagnosed with cancer in January of this year. My prayers are for King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Catherine.

It.might help you to know that Di admitted on camera to straying first. They simply were incompatible and never would have married or been forced to remain so in most any other scenario. I'm sure all would have done things better/differently in hindsight for an easier journey but the outcome would still ultimately ended with Charles and Camilla making good on their relationship and roles as they have.
