yes totally agree with Glen ... you've made sense of things i had no clue of about ... and am gonna dive into my logic session n will come back here with the results... till then.... thanx in advance
that's great! glad I could open some new doors!
Just what i needed! I got my bass player comming to record his and my first bass recording (i'm a rapper and hiphop producer, i'm only used to recording vocals). So thank you so much for this!
Happy to help! And remember this isn’t supposed to be a copy/paste template for everything, just a guide for how to get to a sound you want. Always trust your ear first. Good luck to you man🤘🏼
This is a great video, extremely informative. I personally don’t take a lot of interest in this side of things as I’m more into the creative aspect (chords, melody, lyrics etc), but somehow you’ve made me sit up and take notice of the things that I usually ignore.
Great stuff.
that's awesome! thanks for watching!
Man, thank you so much for this, I usually have no idea what I'm doing, but now I know a little more.
Thank Braeden! your video helped me in getting a better and deeper understanding of bass in a mix situation! I had great results immediately :)
Glad I could help!
This is by far the best tutorial available on the subject, I guess its because you are a bass player and a good teacher without trying to sell anything. Logic has so much good stuff but the complexity leaves you overwhelmed or with option paralysis.
Yo thank you! Glad it was helpful!
As a beginner in the world of Logic Pro producing I found your video clear and super helpful! Thanks for sharing!
No problem! Happy producing!
Gosh this was so helpful. I’ve been needing this. Thank you!
you're welcome
This is great - concise, clear, and super helpful. Thank you!
No problem!
Great video man, subbed. I will say I personally hear stark differences in the different logic compressors
Thank you! That's cool, I personally haven't sat down and really dove into all the compressors but I'm glad they are different.
Very useful and helpful along with a great presentation style-- thank you for sharing!!
thank you!
great vid and sound, thanks!
Awesome demo. Why would someone thumbs down this? I appreciate your effort in helping the community. 🎸🤟
thank you!
There disagreeable sour people that thrive on negativity. The proof is in the pudding and although the sound is a bit too treble ridden he did say go back and adjust EQ. My sound from applying these techniques is bigger, fuller , distortion free and crisper which make me play way better.
great video!appreciate that!was wondering getting a new plugin, but it seems like knowledge is more valuable than spending money!!!!
Thank you! And YES, absolutely. New fancy plugins won’t make you sound better, knowledge will.
Your bass sounds amazing from the beginning. Even before the chains. Holy moly.
haha thank you. 2015 fender jazz bass, love that thing to death
Great video and great end result 👏🏻
Thank you!
Thank you! You got my funk bass recordings sound right now!
no problem! glad to hear it
This was very helpful.
Great video man I learnt alot
thank you!
Love the content thank you!!
no problem! glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome Braeden.
Best video for people that actually care about their band ! I spent a few hours exploring because of this video.Excellent.Thank you !
Do you purposely not compress at the amp ?
Thanks! You can totally compress at the amp if you want, it's just a change of the signal flow
I like the content, ur teaching style and cadence. Now let's put it to the test.
Thanks!
🔥 🔥 🔥
Thanks!
EXCELLENT!!! Thank you!
No problem! Thank you!
This is what i want super vider well done
Thank you!
Logics bass sounds much better than alot of paid plugins
Fantastic, thanks. Do you have something similar for electric guitar. P.S. Which interface did you use here.
I do play electric guitar but I don’t do enough professional work with it to have any good advice.
I use a Focusrite 18i8
@@BraedenMyers Ok thanks.
Can you do another video like this but for POP bass and R&B bass mixing?
I could! A lot of the same principles apply, the main difference is what kind of bass tone fits the song. R&B bass is generally a very phat low end with lots of the highs rolled off and the mids scooped out, but there's no real general "pop" bass sound
@@BraedenMyers would love to see a video explaining that process!! Thank you
Your bass sounded killer raw what are you playing
2015 Fender jazz bass elite. It's my favorite bass i've ever had.
what about slap bass? it always sounds trashed even though I have Marcus miller strings and bass
Then it's your technique. No musician sounds the way they do because of their gear, it's because of the way they play. Go back to the fundamentals of slap, make sure your notes are consistent with the thumb, play in time.
So my problem basically starts before logic.... I just have a bass directly plugged into the interface but my raw sound is not as clean and beefy as this one it sounds really flat dirty and you can't even recognize some of the notes im playing... any advices?🙁 my bass is a marcus miller v5 so its not a top tier but should give me a decent sound at least
Your problems could come from a lot of factors. Sire is a good company so I would be surprised if anything is fundamentally wrong with your bass. It could be old strings, bad interface, bad cable. If your bass sounds fine through a bass amplifier then it must be something with your interface or computer. If not, then your bass needs a change; string height adjustment, truss rod adjustment, I dont know. Hope that helps a little.
@@BraedenMyers yeah I am actually going to take it to guitar center and do a full spa day for it... I've had it for about a 9 months and never changed strings or set it up so I think that could be the problem, I used it mostly for practice so I didn't really care... now I've never played it in an amp since I don't have one🙁
Question: are you using a passive or active bass and is your bass guitar volume fully open?
If you are using active have you added any bass, treble or mids to the mix?
Thanks
I believe this was an active jazz bass with a flat EQ and full volume
Thanks
One question!! Was the bass played without the amp presets??
I believe when I recorded this there were no plugins on the track, so I was just hearing DI
This dude really said Ed Sheeran for rock bass tone 😂
Yup, I’m finding a different video.
Why does the bass sound so much louder and over top of the rest of the mix at the end of the video? I thought you did an amazing job at mixing bass and explaining it, but is there a reason why it was so layered on top of the rest of the mix?
I made it louder so you could hear me more prominently. If I was actually mixing a song for release I wouldn’t have the bass that forward in the mix. It was for instructional purposes only
@@BraedenMyers Gotcha.. yeah I was just curious.. great video!
Ahh yes Ed sheeran my favourite "modern rock" artist
When you turned on the track suddenly I was wearing a spandex jumpsuit had long blonde hair and had 80's era strippers dancing around me. I also suddenly become addicted to yayo. Gotta give me some warning man before you turn on such awesomeness.
