The Mercedes SL63 AMG R230.
This R230 model came on the market in 2002-2012.
There was a facelift model in 2006 and 2008.
In 2008 the Mercedes SL63 R230 replaced the Sl55 AMG.
Mercedes SL63 AMG was availible up 2012 with the M156 6.2 ltr v8

M156 AMG engine is NA with Dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing.
With a compression ratio of 11.3/1.
It produced in The R230 525HP and 630NM.
In the SL63 it was capable of 0-100 in 4.6 sec with a limited top speeds of 250kph
The M156 was also availible in the C E CLS CLK S CL and SL class from 2006-2012 is the engine produced
M159 was a upgraded version of the M156 base and was used in the SLS up to 2014 with a raised reve limit from
7200rpm in M156 engine to 8000RPM in the M159.
Powerlevels where 571 591 and 631HP in the blackseries and torque figures of 630 and 660nm
This SL is equiped with the 722.9 mct 7 speed transmission
This transmission came on the market in 2003 with a torque converter but was change to a multi Clutch torque converter in 2008.
AMG drive unit is also equipedd to have serveral shifting programmes and also RS race start. This will alow the car to get a perfect launch from the start.
The SL63 is equipped on standard 19"wheels on 285 rear and 255 front and 360mm brakes front and 330mm brakes in the back.

My wife has a 2004 SL55 weekend car. But I drive my 2009 SL63 daily. I have 89,000 miles, use Liquid Molly, change the oil every 7,500 miles, and change the $9 oil filter myself every 3,000 miles. No problems with the motor at all. Love the M156. I race side by side with my wife's SL55, very close in speed, but not as much fun, the 55 is a very sexy looking care. The SL63 is more masculine, guttural, you need to drive it to get what you want, much better tranny too, downshift like a gun went off, top-down, its a lot of fun. I get more looks at the gas station with the 63 then the 55, and the 63 does sound like a 427 Cobra.---I intend to baby my 09 SL63, I can easily see driving it 10 more years, I detailed the paint too. It's worth the $3,000 a year in repairs to drive, but it's paid for now, no payments, only small repairs, nothing with the engine. It's a pleasure to own.

@@joesmith9216 Its $1,500 a year in rubber and brakes alone! A 15 year old top of the line SL63 takes time and attention. Even with traction control, you only get 7,000 miles on the rear tires and 11,000 on the front ones, thats $500 a year in rubber. The front rotors need to be changed at 33,000 miles, which costs $3,000 for the axle only, thats close to $1,000 a year in front brakes. Thats $1500, and next is maintenence. You may also have to replace one or two corner of the hydraulics at 10 years, which costs $4,000, each corner. Additionally, small example, the left window button is broken, and you need to spend $126 for a used eBay item and $600 to remove the door and replace it. If you need to replace the roof motor, at 10 years you will, a used one costs $1,800, Used, not installed.
The cost of maintaining A Service or B service of a 13+ year old SL63 M156 driven every day is not going to be less than $1200 if the required 14 year old parts are replaced, there will be a small list of 5+ $50-$200 items. O only do service at the dealer, my repairs are done at a MB specialist, and I get most parts eBay used, still its $3,000 a year. If you dont drive it everyday, why buy it, SL's arent happy unless driven, its very strange. At 75,000 miles, I had to replace the manifold due to it being made of plastic inside, $3,000+. Head Bolts is nonsense, it was an Internet thing only, rare problem. Your getting $150,000 hand-built 2008 Motor of the Year AMG, and it feels great. If you decide to buy one, be prepared to spend at least $2,000-$3,000 annually, thats if your going to drive the car, and keep it perfect condition. A bad year, you could spend as much as $4,000+.
I look at it this way, its either $1800 a month for a new SL that I don't like, or $300 a month for a well running perfect SL63, its a total steal, and tags are only $200 a year now. Insurance is very low now. But, the car handles the same as new. Good Luck.

Prachtig hoe je zo over deze auto kan praten , al die Motoren ,verschillende uitvoeringen, alle Specs opnoemen.
En dat allemaal rijdend , zonder op te lezen..en goed op de weg letten ipv die Camera zoals andere YTube Auto reviewers wel doen.
1970 Kg , is wel veel voor zo'n wagen...met enkel 2 zitplaatsen.
Omdat de SL eigenlijk het Model van MB is wat concurreert met de Porsche 911.
Ik vind het 2003-2007 SL Model echt de mooiste.

Hello I have a question about the 201, did you install the speedometer from the 126 roof or did you need to work on the dashboard?
Speedo gauge from a 126 in a gauge cluster from the w201 . You need to modified IT a little bit to make IT fit

How does the acceleration feel compared to your w201?
IT is a bit the same but i have the feeling that my car is faster from 80-180kph

Did you drive it cold? The MCT is a pig until the oil warms up. Fantastic car though!
Yes drove it from Cold. But always warm up the engine to full oil temp is okey. Transmission temp dont know. But dont feel anything different

Yes i did troef that in the past but it is not do easy to get a good view because the camera is front of your face to get the a very good view i did a cls55 AMG pov review a Grey car have look.
@@JMSpeedshop Just seen the cls video and it was fine for me ;) so you should instal camera on your head or instal somehow between two front seats :) well, I really enjoyed the review of Mercedes W221 S63, curently I own the w211 350 09 and considering exactly about w221s500 or 600...so your reviews are interesting for me :)

I Will consider IT doing a pov but . When my own w201 V12 is finished i.will make one of that car. Yes the w221 S63 AMG is a monster . But also very comfortable car . A 500 is a budget friendly choice . But the s600 is Just a step up .
@@JMSpeedshop I consider rather S500 4.7 biturbo as the newest one. Fuel cons. is quite fine, around 15L in the city is OK for me. Well W201will be a sleeper on the street... old C class will overtake all cars on the street haha. Great idea for V12, I cannot wait!! take care, thumbs up for the V12 monster :)
