- 👋 Time to learn how to drive the most fun cars out there! Learning to drive a manual car is a great skill to have since it's unlike any other car! The stick shift transmission is all about being connected to your car and rowing through the gears! In this video I show how to drive a manual car and teach the basics on learning to drive a manual transmission. If you're looking to learn how to drive a manual transmission vehicle the easy way, then this video is for you! In this video, we'll show you how to drive a manual transmission vehicle in the easiest way possible, without ever having to stall or struggle with gear shifts. This video is perfect for beginners who are looking to learn how to drive a manual transmission vehicle the easy way. If you're ready to start driving a manual transmission vehicle the easy way, then watch this video today! Driving a manual transmission car is very simple overall, you just need to take things slow. Start out on a slight decline and simple take your foot off the break to coast down the hill. Slowly let your foot off the clutch and then you can apply some throttle. Get that down and then move to flat ground starts, hill starts, and then your ready for the roads! Driving manual is a lot of fun and very rewarding especially if you are into performance enthusiast driving. In the USA pretty much every new car is an automatic, but there are a ton of new sportscars popping up offering a manual tranmission! My new manual Supra is a blast to drive and I'm enjoying it much more then my old automatic Supra. Manuals are a different bread of car and so worth learning to drive!

its important to wiggle at least 99 times in neutral otherwise its not completely in neutral
lol! Exactly!
and when u lock the car make sure press the button 99 x
I just push the shifter to the side and if it moves then it s in neutral 😂
@@user-cy8rn4sz4krelatable af🤣🤣😭
If you don't wiggle you're a noob. The more the wiggle the better.
Also make sure to be in a empty parking lot lol 😂
That’s helpful!
I drove immediately into traffic when I first drove one. Fortunately I didn’t stall out at all in the middle of the road 😂
took me a couple of hours but ever since i learned i cant stop driving manual. Keeps me awake on the road especially on hills :). my wife taught me manual lol
Yep, you cant drive a manual in 1 hour perfect, it took much more hours.
Welcome to the drivers club🎉
@@roccostafford5383 by couple of hours I meant…… 3-5 hours 😅
My first car was a manual ford escort back in the day. Took me a while to master it. Many a staled starts in the parking lot haha
What do I do on a hill ??? I’m scared!! Got my first manual today and learned how to drive it haven’t been on a hill or on the highway yet
@@kaitieplew4209 pray. lol it’s going to want to roll backwards…so you gotta get the clutch and gas thing just right.
This just made me horrified of driving, that’s actually so scary to me 💀 but we all gotta do it someday I guess

Why did it make you scared of driving? Its a great and very safe system
Why?
It is easy
You got it!!!!! Once you get used to it you'll have a lot of fun!
I picked up a manual transmission car yesterday and Tyy so much for the video appreciate it. I’m learning how to use it and my dad is teaching me

@@dumbmonkeylove5381 most cars are now automatic, if you want to learn faster you can go for automatic
wow im very surprised thats all i needed to know, this was so helpful that im actually surprised how fast and helpful it was, no one told me to pay attention to the rpm dipping before fully letting go of the clutch tysm
You should also stay on the brake until ure ready to lift the clutch.
If ure on a hill you wont roll and if u accidentally slip off the clutch the car wont jump as far
Yup, I go over all that in the full video.
You can feel when the car is beginning to pull as you lift off the clutch and that’s your cue to push the gas. It’s really a balancing act between the clutch and the gas.
I never use my break like that. I just get off the break and gas it. I roll back a little, do maybe I should try it this way

Thank you for this video, I’m learning to drive & found this great to start with in manual as it’s cheaper at the moment to buy a manual car 🤙🏻
Glad it was helpful! Check out the full videos we have made for all the details!
I drove a manual once and managed to stall out like five times backing out of a parking spot and probably grinded some gears as I drove but luckily the owner of the car was ok with letting me make mistakes and learn so I later got a lesson on how to do it and I got a better feel for it. It’s not hard to drive one it’s just the learning curve to it can make it a nerve racking experience especially when it’s someone else’s car
Yeah! Glad you were able to try and get the hang of it! Certainly fun once you get used to it!
Thats how everyone it learns here in Europe, everyone lets it stall.
Its not easy its a learning curve to do.
You dont have to feel embarassed, everyone understand if you learn to drive a manual.
@@roccostafford5383 well here’s the thing, I was actually a designated driver with 3 women in the car. It wasn’t too embarrassing but for the average guy I feel like that would go to their head pretty quickly 😂
@@slapshotjack9806 Ok, it feels a bit uncomfortable i guess.
But in the USA their is no option to drive a manual car at the driving school???
@@roccostafford5383 as I said in my first comment the owner praised me for doing it despite my shortcomings and I’ve actually recently been taking the time to learn it a few times recently here with her so it wasn’t a big deal. however the reason I say I would probably make the average guy here uncomfortable is because in America knowing certain skills is usually seen as a status thing especially when it involves a man doing something for a woman, but to answer your question, you drive whatever car you bring to the DMV for your drivers test because they give you a permit at 15 to learn how to drive given that an adult 21 or older with a license is in the vehicle with you.
I managed to move off in a manual car. Manuals are just goated.
Omg my dad is making me get my first truck have stick shift, this is making me nervous so im looking for tutorials 😂

I stalled a couple of times when I started learning manual and then it suddenly became easy

So, what are you suppose to do when youre at a stop sign or a 4 way intersection? Do you have to shift to neutral briefly or shift to 1st and hold the brake?
Either one, depends on how long you have to wait and which one you prefer. If I’m sitting at a lights it’s neutral and foot in the brake for me. If it’s a quick stop, either first or second depending on speed.
For me it was holding the clutch and shifting back into first
@@slapshotjack9806don’t do that. You’ll clutch plate will wear out faster. Always advisable to put the car in neutral and get your legs off the clutch.
@@SathyaSwaruban06 what’s the difference? You have to do that anyway to start the vehicle
Only reason I prefer auto is because I have adhd. I don’t wanna be not paying attention and accidentally blow my car’s transmission because i wasn’t paying attention to when I’m supposed to shift 💀
I feel like at a high rpm, you would be able to hear that you need to shift? Am I wrong with that? I don't want to sound insensitive, but you wouldn't blow a cars transmission unless you were abusing the car. You have a lot of time getting up to the high rpm range to shift.
Exactly like why risk it in the first place driving already dangerous
@@BrosFOURRSpeed nah you’re not wrong I just feel like I’d somehow mess it up
I have hard adhd and im fine I actually would say im a better driver than most of my friends because I have to always think of my Action and so im always concentrated
Bro i have adhd too but i forced drive manual. It actually simpler
You can also keep your foot on the clutch bite and accelerate if you’re prone to releasing the clutch too fast. Just don’t do this at high revs because it’s bad for the clutch.
Yeah.

I always get terrified when I'm in a parking lot and there's a car behind me and it's a slight decline. And i'm the one on top and that slight roll backwards scares the fuck out of me
Like , I should press brake then on the car engine then press clutch a little, push the jar to one then little acceleration
Check out or channel for several full video tutorials on how to drive manual.
I'm the opposite going from decades of manual to automatic 😬😬😬
lol 😂
I dont really use the tach - I kinda like feel the engine
Yeah for sure. As a beginner it helps to understand the numbers on the tach. Once you drive more you can just hear and feel when to shift
❤
So i can hold brakes while changing to first gear and its gonna change? Cuz i was told otherwise.
If you aren’t moving, you can be on the brake and shift into first, but not moving.
If you are in neutral you will not be accelerating. You only accelerate once you put in 1st gear. The car doesn’t go in neutral so no accelerator. Logically.
I love toyota but the electronic handbrake is a dealbraker for me, just another part that needs to be electronic to raise the cost of the vehicle.
It’s not the only car with that. That’s offered in probably more cars then not.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yes and it bugs me with how many cars have that now, was hard finding something rwd and stick that didn't have it. Never thought I would own a Ford in my life but the mustang won me over because of the mechanical handbrake/clutch/brake/gas, no giant ipad center console and physical knobs for the A/C + music. And I got it just in time too because the new one went the way of the tesla and got the stupid ipad in the middle and who knows what else lol

I’m from the UK where driving a manual car is normal! Just lots of practice and patience, you’ll get there!👍🏻🇬🇧
Question.. so we gotta slowly remove our foot off the clutch on 1st gear..
I've seen people take off fast how is that?
Depends on how quick or slow you want to move. if you are "racing" or want to get up and move, you'd let off quicker, a normal gradual start would be slower. Just depends on how you want to drive.
@BrosFOURRSpeed ooh.. i see, i thought letting off quicker would make the car stall. Cause that's what happened to me.. but then again im still not used to it
@@HeriB1994 If you don’t give it the right amount of gas, yes you would stall. But you can let it out quick and not stall.

What about that time in this short?
What Toyota is this?

Wow Toyota?!!!🤔
lol it's my 2023 Supra. BMW and Toyota built it together. But it is built in a BMW factory using their parts
Instructions unclear, my 5 speed went into race mode and now it won't start
Ouch.. However I do have a full video on how to drive manual. A 1. minute short can't show it all!
You put the car in R and thats for Reverse, not a Race mode.
Then you have destroyed your gears😢😢
How do you reverse then?
You use the reverse gear lol labeled “R”. I made full videos on how to drive a manual if you want to check those out.
How do you back it up? I still don’t get it, and the car keeps dying when I let off the other pedal I need help!!!!
Well, thats the trick how to handle a manual, its not easy but a learning curve.
Put clutch first in, put it in R from Reverse and slowly let the clutch come up.
The clutch slowly come up is important.
You dont need the gaspedal, only lifting the clutch slowly is enough to move the car back.
When you,re backing up and wanna brake, put the clutch first complete in and then the brake.
It needs good training to learn it.
What car is that?🔥🔥🔥
Someone taught me you shouldn't shift gears withOut depressing the clutch pedal i.e. "dryclutch."
Yeah you should always press the clutch when you shift

I have full videos on our channel of how to drive a manual. But you push in the clutch and use the brake like in an auto to slow down.
Why would you not know this? You have to pass your test in a manual surely?
In the USA, you don’t need to drive a manual for driving part. All drivers ed cars are automatics.
Thats the difference between USA and Europe and Russia.
In Europe and Russia and other parts of the world, people do their driving tests for more than 90% in manual cars.
Dissabled people drive an automatic car and people who cant control a manual car, will step over to an automatic.
My exwife, sister, friends, co workers can all drive manual cars.
I,ve one friend who could,nt control a manual gear, then she switched to an automatic what i told her.
Here in Europe every driving school will teach to drive a manual, but many of them will have an automatic car for lessons too if you,re not able to control a manual.

Sorry, mate, but this video isn't it. Pain point for new drivers is the clutch and changing gears. The only way to teach someone a manual is to explain what a clutch does first, and why stalling happens.
I've made several in detail full videos on how to drive a manual you can check out. This is a quick 1 minute vid..
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yeah, I would guess. I just saw this as a random recommended short.
What I'm saying is, given one minute, the focus should have been on a quick explanation of the clutch, and skipping the gear shifting pattern explanation because that's intuitive. The issues people ultimately have are (a) not stalling on starting to roll (or knowing how to use the clutch and gas when pulling backwards out of a parking spot), and (b) not knowing how to shift and what to do with the accelerator when already in in motion, usually 1st to 2nd.
Maybe the problem is, nobody will know how to drive in a minute anyway, so a more useful video would be to explain how the clutch works, and the steps taken during start and later shift, and then a quick showing of it happening while explaining what you're doing. At the end of the day, you have to learn the feel and no video will convey understanding the right feel of going through the motions, releasing a clutch and feeling it bite, etc. That's just something you have to do.
@@Slackwise eh, he's at least trying. Most people that tell me to get a manual car never tell me how to actually drive a manual car
