This is terrible man, hate it when parents ignore children’s pain because they think they’re being over dramatic. “it’s just growing pain” is what my mom has been telling me about my leg that has been hurting to walk on for a week and a half, making me sit out in p.e. class and limp
This is so damn true I remember being around 8 years old and whenever I would vomit my mum would get angry at me for messing up the place. I had a seizure which diagnosed me with epilepsy which she would shake off the issue and blame it on my crying which the doctor did talk about but also said it's natural .She would tell me "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT !!" whilst crying . Like what the actual flip ( is said flip because kids 5-7 could be on this app.)
The fact that this is so true is really sad. I remember one time, I tripped and someone stepped on my finger. It hurt quite a lot and my teacher send me home so my parents could take me to see a doctor because my finger was bend in a way it shouldn't. My mother just said that it's fine and all I need is to wrap it around something sturdy and straight for a night and it would be back to normal again. Guess what, It wasn't back to normal. She kept on telling me that it's gonna be fine but luckily my dad insisted on going to the doctor (even tho he later yelled at me because he missed an appointment because he had to drive me to the Doc.). Turns out my finger was sprained and even tho I can finally move it normally and write normally now, it's still gonna be permanently bend slightly to the side and up forever. My mother then got mad at me because she was wrong.. This has only happend a week ago. Some parents are really bad. You should always listen to your child if they tell you that something is wrong and when their in pain. Some parents are just ignorant and horrible.
@@treseanmallqui2757 i don't understand why in US the bill for health car is high?! .. here where i live " in a third world country" the health care is for free ... You can do even do heart surgery for free!!
The fact that the mom waited 3 days later before she finally drove her to the hospital to get it checked even tho she was extremely in pain when it already started
THIS IS SUCH A MOOD. i once broke my knee and my family didnt take me to the doctor for so many hours when it was obviously swollen. later on they kept taking me to the wrong doctors and i had to walk on that ankle (its so massive it looks like a ball) for 1 week before it had to be taken care of and doctor told me to stay home for 5 weeks
This is how people end up with permanent damage. Telling a child, or anyone for that matter, that they're exaggerating their pain teaches them that their pain doesn't matter and that no one will believe them at any point in their life. It's extremely toxic behavior.
My dad being a single parent raised my sister and I to be strong. He gave us tough love. You'll get over it and don't cry, you need to be strong, he said. It taught me to have resilience, but I struggle with showing my true pain due to it. I'll just brave the pain than shows others my weakness. Luckily, I don't get sick often though, it helps.
Yepp, my legs gt fucked up bcuz they just thinks I'm whiny, it was treatable with physio bt in the end I got a surgery got the other leg gave in as well and three years in I still can't really run or jump
Agree, it happened to me. I hurt myself playing basketball 4 years ago (16 y/o). A couple of weeks after the injury i got a small cyst on my wrist and told my mom, she said it was ok and it was nothing and it'll disappear in a few days. It disappeared, but then came back 2 days after and it was a bit bigger and started to hurt. Told my mom again she said the same and the same happened. It disappeared and came back bigger and stronger. A couple months of the same thing went by, now the cyst was so big that the bone we all have in the cyst wasn't visible anymore, the cyst looked like a bone popping out of my hand. I tried going to the doctor by myself but i needed my parents approval cuz i was underage. One day my mom finally decided to take to the doctor and we found out that the cyst was slowly creating space between the bones. I got it removed but now I have permanent damage on that wrist And because of the extra space there the tendons of the wrist popped out of their space one time and now a very fucked up left wrist Thanks mom!!🙃 Edit: I also want to add. I'm allergic to medicine in general, painkillers specially. I have to swallow all the pain whenever I hurt myself or if i get sick there is nothing i, or anyone, can do cuz I'm allergic to basically all medicine. So i ended up build my pain resistance and things barely hurt so you'll never see me complaining about pain, but when something really hurts i usually tell my mom and she will always say I'm exaggerating the pain. That happened one day i was skating and fell and got some rocks implanted into my knees, i got home with the feet and skates covered in blood and my mom said it was nothing
This is so relatable. 6 months ago I sprained my wrist and I was in extreme pain, I told my parents about it and they told me “what do you want me to do about it, cut it off?” So for six months I had pain in my wrist, unable to bend it. And then other issues started coming up in my hand from not being medically treated. So listen to your kids when they tell you that they’re in pain.

This is why a person should never ignore these “accidents” , if there really is pain that is. Especially if ur doing sports or is a dancer. Ignoring wounds will make it literally 100000 times worse. I’m a dancer,I did Ballet, contemporary and hip-hop.I had an accident when i used to do ballet nd I had to stop dancing for like 2 years.
please tell my mom this. i fell and twisted my knee at the beginning of my basketball season and had to have it taped all the time and be in and out of a brace from game to game depending on the pain bc i hate playing in a brace. i twisted it again 3 weeks ago and it hasn’t stopped hurting since but she won’t take me to the dr bc the bruising and swelling went down within 2-3 days. it literally hurts to walk on it and if i’m on it for a long period of time it starts hurting so bad i literally want to start crying
My friend does ballet and she had an injury on her foot and ankle and wanted to ignore it so she could keep dancing. It took me and the other girls in the locker room (after PE) almost ten minutes to convince her to get an icepack and to tell her mom. We had to bring in the “if you dont rest and let your foot heal, you might never get to do dance again!” She still wouldn’t listen until i literally told my math teacher that she needed an icepack. I ended up telling her mom too and and she had pulled a muscle in her heel. She had to be off dance for a few days. Her doctor said that if she hadn’t let it heal, she might not have been able to dance anymore.
My parents used to put off going to doctors because the doctors were the ones that would accuse me of being dramatic. I used to think it was my parents but now that I’m an adult and have to advocate more for my self I still put it off cause same thing. I had a thumb pretty much detached internally and the doctors were the ones saying I was dramatic for like a month until I finally asked for legitimate pain killers instead of IB profine and Tylenol they insisted on.
Our mom always got mad at us if we said anything that implied we would need medical attention. Brianna Ballard I see that now, but thank you for stating that because it was actually many years before I ever realized that. Her and our step dad also locked the food in a separate fridge in the garage (yes it had a literal padlock). At 15 I had blood drawn and CPS called my mom to say if she didn’t take me to the hospital within 24 hours they would take me. It turns out I was extremely anemic and my heart was failing, I weighed 70lbs and I’m 5’9” (although I was probably shorter then). I wasn’t released from the hospital for four months... they sent me back home to her and after dropping 20 pounds in a couple months I had to be put in the hospital for another 2 1/2 months. Eventually my sisters and I learned sneak meals in the middle of the night, we were too hungry to sleep anyways.

Best thing is when parents like this become doctors. “Oh, your periods are so excruciating you vomit uncontrollably? AND you get intense pain between periods? Well, sounds like you’re just an unlucky girl who has it a little worse than some.”

Same thing always happened to me, but with mental issues. When my OCD first got really bad, my parents straight up refused to believe me. They thought it was just being over dramatic or something. I literally took three or more showers a day and went through bottles of soap within a day or two. I had what looked like incisions all over my knuckles, as the hand washing slowly chipped away at my skin. It once again happened with my sleeping. I was convinced I had narcolepsy or something similar. I would randomly fall asleep or feel really tired, alongside losing feeling in my muscle. My dad insisted I just needed to get on a sleep schedule and that I was being lazy. Turns out, I had a severe form of sleep apnea. An average of forty-something disturbances per hour. The doctors said I likely never went into deep sleep. Parents should always trust their kids with anything medical. Physical or mental. Kids are still human beings. Pain is something we naturally experience. I think there’s some weird idea that kids experience pain differently because of their age. Like no they literally have a more fragile body and they’re not used to getting hurt. We wouldn’t do well as a species if we couldn’t recognize pain from a very early age.
@@ERIMARMEDIA thats the way to go, i was a reckless kid and so i did alot of shit that got me hurt and most of the time it was me trying to convince her i didnt need to go to the hospital.
Okay, let me get some things straight: a lot of the time, kids aren't "overreacting". They're not used to pain yet, like how people older than them are. I fractured a bone once, and it was the worst pain I've felt in my life. But that's nothing when compared to something like childbirth. I scraped my finger against a cheese grater once, but to someone whose finger was sliced off, my crying would be overreacting.
"you're not used to pain yet" is one of the most shittiest excuses a parent could give to their children. a lot of horrible accidents branch off from occurrences that seemed like your everyday tolerable pain.
I dont get the point you're trying to make? fractured bones and childbirth are different things and it doesnt justify the parent not caring for their kids pain. its just nonsensical to compare those things, ones a fractured bone and another is birth which is natural.
@@sockening my point was that adults belittle kids' pain just because they have been through worse and forget how much of a big deal that would've been as a kid, and that they should really listen to their damn kids
I kinda had the same situation twice. First situation: When I was younger I was walking the dogs with my cousins and while doing that I fell because the dog was running and the leash was stuck ok my wrist. When I fell I fell on concrete,I landed on my wrist, and after that my wrist hurt very bad and I went to my auntie and told her what happened(keep note that my auntie is a nurse) and she said that it was fine, I told her that I couldn’t move it then she said I should move it more so that the pain can go away or something. I was doing this for about a month. When we finally went to the doctor they said that I fractured my wrist, then the Doctor asked if I moved it, they said moving it made it worse. They put me in a cast for 4-5 months. Second situation: This happened recently during quarantine. I was working on my school work and all of a sudden my eyes started to burn and I couldn’t do a lot of stuff cause I thought that it was too bright. I couldn’t even look outside, I couldn’t turn on a light, I had to cover my windows with blankets so my eyes would stop bugging me. This would happen for months. My auntie said that I was fine (again she is a nurse) and saying that I’m being dramatic, that I had pink eye. Last time I checked, pink eye is just a itchy eye, my eyes were red, swollen, I couldn’t see, they would always be watery and were burning. Let’s just say this all happened in the beginning to august and I complained to my mother telling her that I needed to see a eye doctor or something, but she didn’t listen, she was fooled by my auntie saying it was pink eye. My eyes were like this from august to February. In early February my mom finally took me to the doctor and they said I had a bad infection in my eye. I couldn’t see out of it. So now I have to clean my eyes and put eyedrops in every couple hours. I still can’t see out of it very well. My mom said she was sorry, but I wanted to say something like “do you think sorry will fix this?” But I didn’t because I didn’t want to get In Trouble. Now when I get hurt or anything I don’t tell anyone anything because they won’t believe me. I blame my auntie and mom for both of these situations happening. And now I have a problem with bottling my emotions.
my mom is like this and it greatly upsets me. one thing that i’m forever salty about is how i needed glasses for years and she just told me to eat more carrots (She said “Carrots will make your eyes better”). I asked many times to have my eyes checked but she refused, even though insurance will completely cover everything including the glasses. Several years later, it’s time for me to go to the DMV to do driver’s license stuff and they told me i needed glasses in order to drive. the really upsetting part is less about having to go through high school without seeing clearly, and more about my mom constantly invalidating my feelings. i don’t consider my mom to be a bad person, just a very annoying one sometimes. A recent incident was when I had very bad sciatic nerve pain and it was so difficult for me to move my legs without being in intense pain. From 1-10, i think the pain level was at a 9. We were at a family party and it was time to go home. I couldn’t even put on my own shoes and she kept yelling at me. I’m not a crier, but I was in so much pain and sobbed. When it was time to go to the car, she just left me and made me limp from the living room to the driveway by myself in front of all my relatives at a party. it felt very pathetic because i could only move about an inch every step. it was impossible to move any faster than that. I don’t understand why parents get angry at their children for being in pain. My mom can be the sweetest person ever, but she can do a 180 and become so scary when I really need her. It’s so strange. i love her a lot but she drives me insane sometimes. sorry for the big vent
Ummm this doesn't sound normal...not to invalidate your feelings, but you sure she is a good person? Maybe try doing some research on how your mother acts towards you. Oh, but you don't have to. I'm just worried about you
That sounds a lot like my mom. Did your mom grow up in a dysfunctional family? It sounds like she learned that children's feelings are not valid and unfortunately the cycle often continues. Your mom might have a personality disorder, which is why she can be sweet and loving one moment and cold and cruel the next. I suspect my mom is a vulnerable narcissist, which is the hardest to identify because it's more covert but just as damaging. I recommend reading up on personality disorders.
it’s okay to vent. but your mom’s treatment of you isn’t normal or acceptable and shouldn’t be seen as such. it’s neglectful and borderline abusive. i hope you continue to grow and don’t let her treatment of you hold you back.
"I don't consider my mom to be a bad person..." Well, you dont have to, she proves that she is a bad, horrible and inconsiderate person just by the actions you described. I know its hard to think of your own parent as a bad person, I am myself in that situation, but its better to realize it and not excuse it with "she can be a sweet person".
Any parent of a child who does sports or performances should absolutely take any injury seriously because you could end up ending your career over a fixable injury that was left to worsen

Yea ikr

This is how people end up with permanent damage. Telling a child, or anyone for that matter, that they're exaggerating their pain teaches them that their pain doesn't matter and that no one will believe them at any point in their life. It's extremely toxic behavior.
Yeah that will really fuck them up for life
I think the mom just did what her mom did to her even if it’s bitchy
I got it removed but now I have permanent damage on that wrist
And because of the extra space there the tendons of the wrist popped out of their space one time and now a very fucked up left wrist
Thanks mom!!🙃
Edit:
I also want to add.

Best thing is when parents like this become doctors.
“Oh, your periods are so excruciating you vomit uncontrollably? AND you get intense pain between periods? Well, sounds like you’re just an unlucky girl who has it a little worse than some.”
And this is how women are conditioned to ignore most pain, no matter how debilitating. Men get a splinter/cold & the world is ending. Woman has a rod sticking out of her chest "Oh, it's just a flesh wound."
My dad who is also a surgeon told me to walk off my broken leg
Don't. Feckin. Even. -?-
I remember begging and begging my mum to bring me to the doctor so I could go on the pill because my periods were so bad. For YEARS. It took me feeing suicidal from the extreme pain for her to finally take me.
Doctor told us I have a 90% chance of have endometriosis
@@stasiatheo Most women who experience extreme pain during thier periods have some form of endometriosis or ovarian cysts, but we're told "take a Midol & use a hot compress, you'll be ok."
This is proof that adults think everything kids say is a lie because they're young

Then we have Asian parents: "If you become doctor you can heal yourself.. doctors too expensive you know."

This reminds me of when I broke my wrist this summer. I was on a church trip 5 HOURS AWAY from both my parents, and me and my bsf were on a seesaw around 9:30 at night and I fell off and hurt my wrist (not to mention it definitely didn't look right-) and we immediately went to the EMT counselor there and she said it wa probably just sprained, so did everyone else we talked to. She just wrapped my wrist in some ace bandage and sent me back to my cabin to sleep. I literally couldn't sleep because it was REALLY uncomfortable, then I worked the whole week through the pain (it was the Jeremiah Project, where you build home improvements for people), then on Saturday we went home, I had the accident on Tuesday, and we went to the medexpress and my wrist bone was literally crumbled, I needed surgery, just a pin put in, and I needed a cast for 4 weeks, and after that I need to wear a brace for a month (still wearing it) so that was super fun.
This is neglect. If I saw this as a teacher, I would've reported that to cps
that’s a bit dramatic
cps wouldnt do anything about that lol.

That’s literally what happens to me my dad always says your fine like what don’t you care about your daughter 😡
Parents really have to let us feel the pain for a good month so they dont gotta pay the bill. This happens when a parent doesnt help their child enough that they get hurt and the parent still doesnt care and says it is fine.

@DotCom ikr one time I Wasnt feeling good and I kept telling my non but she wouldn’t listen and so she thought it was just a fever or a cold. So she saw that I became really pale and light. I let begging my mom to take me to the doctors and she finally did after begging. When I went doctors immediately called in a blood test and some pills which somehow I was very love on blood. An average girl my age should be at a blood level 14 and I’m at a blood 2. Till this day I have to take pills everyday
This is so relatable it’s happened to me so much 😭💀💀
*falls down the stairs*
mom : “you’re fine.”
I was temporarily paralyzed twice as a kid and my mother thought I was just whining. Twenty years later and I start losing control of my legs…my spine had been broken in at least three different places including a completely disconnected tailbone. The “I told you so”s got pretty epic. I have most of the use of my legs back now although I’ll still have near constant pain for the rest of my life albeit at a much more manageable level.
You're strong, wish you the best... And as a kid who have grown up... Please don't rely on your parents and start earning if you can... These type of parents will repeat their mistake believe me .. i live thru it, whatever shit about familial relationship, keep it normal and don't get too attached, be responsible for yourself else.. it will go worse. Good luck God bless you

My parents were like this when I broke the hand that I write with
So relatable like...bro whenever I have really extreme pain I tell my family memebers they would just start saying that "Can't you even handle such pain??? When we were at your age even if this happened to us we would still do this that or whatever..." And when it is out of my mind I can't handle it I would just sit alone and cry...what else I can even do and now Whenever I have pain I would ignore it and doesn't care to tell my parents because what they are gonna even do?? Mock me...scold me..?
love the mismatched socks!!!
After the doctor said that I would straight up blame my mum 💀
Me on the other hand my daughter said she felt a pain in her big toe and I said that the doc will see it
@@ERIMARMEDIA thats the way to go, i was a reckless kid and so i did alot of shit that got me hurt and most of the time it was me trying to convince her i didnt need to go to the hospital.
i have ocd too but in different forms. i could never imagine having that type of ocd, have an amazing day my friend.
Did your parent apologize or sum?
My mom always is like if she says she needs to go she needs to go since I usually ignore any injury 😂
@@rxiko5963 forgot about how sensitive kids bodies also are compared to adults. Only proves my point more
I dont get the point you're trying to make?
fractured bones and childbirth are different things and it doesnt justify the parent not caring for their kids pain.
its just nonsensical to compare those things, ones a fractured bone and another is birth which is natural.
@@sockening my point was that adults belittle kids' pain just because they have been through worse and forget how much of a big deal that would've been as a kid, and that they should really listen to their damn kids
I actually got diagnosed with something I have to live with forever which is ridiculous.. 😢😩
I remember watching this *TWO YEARS* ago 😭
LITERALLY THE SAME HAPPENED TO ME, MY MOMM WAS ALSO LIKE THAT 😢😢😢😢
my mom is like this and it greatly upsets me. one thing that i’m forever salty about is how i needed glasses for years and she just told me to eat more carrots (She said “Carrots will make your eyes better”).
Its totally ok to vent, bottling things up only makes you overthink. I hope you're doing ok 👌
"I don't consider my mom to be a bad person..."
Well, you dont have to, she proves that she is a bad, horrible and inconsiderate person just by the actions you described.
I know its hard to think of your own parent as a bad person, I am myself in that situation, but its better to realize it and not excuse it with "she can be a sweet person".
