Rwanda’s long arm

  • You can’t betray your country and get away with it. Whoever you might be. Including those still alive. They will suffer the consequences,’ said Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda in a speech in January 2014.
The president is quite clear about it. His opponents must be on their guard. Wherever they are in the world. The long arm of dictator Kagame will track them down, monitor and threaten them. It is known that secret agents of the regime in Rwanda operate in Sweden, Belgium and England, among other places.
Human rights activists suspect that they are also active in the Netherlands. Kagame's intelligence agency is said to conduct clandestine operations here, spying on and intimidating the Rwandan community.
In Europe there would even be death squads. Is it paranoia, or does Rwanda’s long arm really reach as far as the Netherlands? What does the Dutch government know about this? And does the Dutch government protect the Rwandan refugees or is The Hague actually cooperating with the Rwandan regime? Zembla investigates the boundless power of a dictatorship.

Journalist seems to ignore that Rwandan diaspora in Europe is divided into pro and anti regime since 1994. In Belgium for example there Bars reserved for hutus. If these people threaten each other, how can this be on the account of the government of Rwanda? These people haven't followed reconciliation efforts that happened in Rwanda.

David Ben-Gurion, the founder and first prime minister of Israel, comes second for time in office at 13 years and 127 days. Yitzhak Shamir was Israel's third-longest serving prime minister at 6 years and 242 days. You are very right. We are currently living in Rwanda and I tell you that it is the safest place to live. Imagine living without fear of facing any kind harassment and if it does, justice is served.

Progress and development or political football. It is interesting looking at Liberia and Rwanda, both victims of bloody civil wars and regional chaos. Yet today Liberia is experiencing it's fourth election since the war and it's third transfer of power where as Rwanda has had one leader since it's civil strife conclusion. Today, Liberia is an economic basket case teeming with corruption and can be argued to be going backwards rather than forward, where as Rwanda is heralded for all the world to see how development can be achieve in Africa. The moral of the story is too much babble and remain stagnant or forget the idea of western democracy, find a leader with vision and the strength of character and watch your people and country develop. One size does not fit all.

If you guys are living in exile as a result of your decision, then why do you continue to discuss or track Rwanda's advancements in different ways? You may leave Rwanda for Rwandans who are proud of who they are and are not being led by stomach-and-white propaganda, or you might be content with where you are and continue to concentrate on improving yourself there.
