  • This is a story of how God encouraged me when I was almost at the end of my rope, down and discouraged by how things were going while we were pushing our hardest to obey Him in our cross-country move. I hope it encourages you.

Let go... trust Him. Lots of unknowns, but He is faithful.

A good reminder. I frequently tell the kids, "You can do hard things." And we can do hard things too.
God will provide. And often times that provision is through the hardships. We have been so blessed and taken care of as a result of immense hardship. And we also had to restructure our ideas of what we needed to get to that place.
In a quest for self sufficiancy we found the beauty of community sufficiancy. We are not meant to go on alone. And when it feels like we are we have the Holy Spirit.

@@TomWylie Over the past few years, I've lost a lot of my motivation for the homesteading-related ventures in my life. This long drought in Missouri doesn't help matters either! I'm going to do my best to both listen to the Lord in what he has in store and to continue developing homesteading skills.

Hebrews 11:1-6 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Take the red pill: Believe that and remain gullible or...
Take the blue pill: Wake up from the lies of religion. There's nothing wrong with questioning everything and requiring evidence to support your beliefs. If you actually read the Bible from end to end with an open non-biased mindset, you'll see that this "blind faith" concept is not healthy or wise. Many people stand at a podium and use this "faith lie" to drain the pockets (and brain cells) of "believers" and in exchange they point to the man-made bible to exchange it with feel-good hopium.
Stop being gullible and making excuses for God. Actually read the Bible while putting your Christian bias aside and start asking real questions and search for the answers. I've done this for over ten years...in earnest and found the real truth.... it's all man-made and people believe it because they live in fear of the unknown.

@karenmiller6088 We’ve discovered A LOT of things we grew up with weren’t actually true.
But I’m curious, do you now believe there’s a God (a being that created & sustains us) at all?

The honest answer anyone could possibly give to that question is "I don't know".... and nobody can honestly say that they do "know". I was a Christian for 55 years and studied the Bible all my life (through the lens of Christianity). Once I sincerely and honestly studied every single word in the Cannon, studied religions, studied the beginnings of Christianity and most all the major religions as well as really looking into the theory of evolution and and Science in general... plus learning Hebrew and studying the various translations of Tanakh.... and for the last ten years studying numerous versions of biblical translations.... there was pure enlightenment. It was a difficult truth to swallow but there was absolutely no way I could go back to the dark. Faith in an invisible diety that is 100 percent man-made is impossible for me now because I "know". I don't need faith because it's not real. Faith is an illusion just as it is to believe that some invisible magical force is guiding you, speaking to you and talking to your brain. I've grown up and the imaginary friend (religious feel good invisible and imagined shy father) has been replaced with truth. The truth is is that religion was created to bind (that's what the word really means) and "blind faith" was created to blind the brain into not questioning evidence/non-existence. We as humans want to feel good and when we don't have answers to important questions it makes us uneasy and fearful unless we really look at things objectively. Religion is the drug of choice because it feels good to "believe" you are right. Unfortunately for that "belief" you've put on a pedestal, the truth will always be a threat to toppling it down and shattering it to a billion pieces. It's like people that spend their money on the lottery hoping to get rich and even plan their retirement around that one day win. Your hope is in something that there is no evidence for that actually keeps you from processing your thoughts and actions in a reasonable and truthful way. Everything you do is based on what men have written down which actually was at first thousands of years of oral traditions and then written over another thousands of years. There are no originals. People are simply following a book they've tweaked considerably and made a creed and decided works best for them. It's all an illusion.

I can reasonably say that given all the information I've gathered that God didn't make man but instead, man made God.

@@karenmiller6088 thanks for your thorough answer. Curious how you conclude the earth, animals, plants, and us humans came into existence then?
Also, what’s your view of the earth we live on: do you believe it is as we’re taught by science?

    • @karenmiller6088

One word can summarize religion "faith" just as one word can summarize science "proof". It is a wise proverb that says it's wise to gather all the reasonable information on the matter in order to make an informed decision (not a direct quote). You see how faith does not enter into that equation or it's conclusion? Science has more integrity than religion because it never says that this is a fact. The highest of science's reach is to be a theory. A scientific theory is something that has been peer reviewed and tested to the best of our abilities and proven to reach the same conclusion but always open to new information. Each religion claims to have the truth and gives no evidence of its claim because the "believers" don't need evidence and in fact are taught that those that doubt because they require evidence are weak or spiritual impaired in some way. So, Science isn't about whether it's truthful or not, it's simply about evidence/proof. Religions make a false claim to being truthful but lacks proof/evidence of their claims to there being an invisible God, spirits, demons, heaven, hell, reincarnation, life after death etc. These are all man made things that were created because people just didn't know so stories were created and evolved over time to what we see today.
It's more honest to say "I don't know" than it is to attribute anything to an invisible friend.
Pardon my extensive explanation. That's just how I roll.
