    We just got the FWD version of tgis SEL and drove from San Diego to San Antonio and back and it drove amazing. The comfort was amazing as well. We love it.

    I drove a Hyundai Tucson SEL rental and i fell in love with it!!

    • @Soulbreeze
      @Soulbreeze Před 5 lety +1

      I actually had a rental as well just 2 weeks ago. 2018 SEL I believe. I liked most of it. I liked that it seemed the seating position was a little higher than most crossovers I passed on the freeway. Ride quality was good. It's a very good looking crossover. Inside looks nice, just a bit too much hard plastic. The only things I didn't like was a horrible right side blindspot, and the non-turbo 2.0 liter engine felt like it was too weak for the vehicle. And that's me coming from my little 2014 Accent! Didn't start pulling good from a stop until about 4,000 rpm and when it did get going it felt like the engine was working harder than it should. Averaged a little over 29 mpg at 80-85 mph running from Albuquerque to Flagstaff.

      I agree I got an ultimate one and it's easy to drive and live with and the looks is just right however the interior dash is just not a wow factor compared to it's rival at the same price point

      Authentic Max haha that’s true you don’t see a lot of light grey interiors anymore!

      I also wish that car makers would bring back perforated leather seats which look and feel better, especially for a sport model. The crap interiors that mid-range car makers have been doing for years is pretty sad.

    • @michaelmaxwell568
      @michaelmaxwell568 Před 5 lety

      Actually, I've looked at the gray interior in person, and it looks pretty good in contrast with the black carpet, black dash sections and door panel sections. It looks pretty good in the elantra too. Doesn't look low-rent at all, imo.

    Just bought a used 2018. Love it! I think it looks beautiful (mine is black) and love the idea of heated seats (after driving my 2005 explorer for 10 years and the heater starting to go in the Colorado Winter, the heated seats of the Tucson will be AMAZING!!! Not nearly as much get up and go as my explorer had of course, but I think it will be fine for me. Took it up in the mountains on Saturday and it did pretty well. I'm not off-roading, just driving. Was sluggish going up at higher altitude, but did not feel like I was pushing her or over-doing it. Radio with Sirius XM is fine and dandy, but the speakers are less than desirable! Might have to go visit Car Toys and get some better speakers! Over all, so far I love it. It is way more roomier than I thought when I was walking up to it with the salesman. Wish it had a bit more Torque, but I'll be okay! I agree with everything in your video! Thanks for posting that!

    Not sure if your view count numbers have been off or not, Rob, but I thought I'd mention that despite being subscribed and having the bell clicked I've not received any notifications, save today's, in months. CZcams sometimes rides the short bus, I guess. Anyway, solid review as always. Cheers!

      Thanks Patrick! The numbers on my CZcams page always seem to be delayed versus the live CZcams analytics. Not sure why notifications aren’t going out but I’ve heard of many youtubers having issues with this. Thanks for letting me know though and for being part of the notification squad! Really appreciate it man 👍

    Just purchased this! Gotta say I absolutely love it. Very comfortable and convenient. One thing though, if you had used the slapstick in sport mode, downshifting would give you substantially more power for take offs. I took her down some back roads to test cornering and the overall ESC system and I was THOROUGHLY impressed. Great review!

    I think they are getting away from the 1.6L because it was mated to a dual clutch transmission which doesn't like stop and go city traffic and they were doing a lot of warranty work on them.

    Ive had my 1.6 fwd 2017 for about 19 months now, Its a great car, The driving modes are a bit meh, I don't feel much difference with them other than the power band seems to shift from the lower end to mid range, And steering sharpens and becomes more heavy. Its still restrictive due to the Traction & stabilization control system, But turn that off with Sport mode active and it really does liven it up, Especially from a stand still. much noticeable difference, I have noticed though the power band seems to be focused more on the lower rev range, Possibly for light off road usage, Which i have done on mine, I took it too an Off road event and did surprisingly well for a 2wd, Climb is good, And decent control is awesome. It does fairly well in snow too, And even managed to tow some stuck cars in a ditch last winter. I like my tucson :D

    Bought this. This car was only 3 years old when the engine failed. Had Hyundai replace the short block. Now experiencing transmission issues at its 5th year of age. I don’t recommend buying Hyundai at all. These cars seem like their slapped together, constantly have major issues

    • @puggster
      @puggster Před 5 lety

      I have the SE 1.6 Turbo, its a 2017 model, Manual tranny, Its quite lively, Never had any issues in the 1.2 years ive had it, These are solid cars, I think you will be happy with any of them The AWD Versions are more tuned for rough terrain then most of the power band is in the lower rev range, Its why they feel slightly slow on the highway, Mine is the FWD Version and its more for normal road conditions so is a bit quicker, But over all there no speed demons just feels it could be quicker, But in fairness its a pretty large car. :)

    • @Ironbuket
      @Ironbuket Před 4 lety

      The 1.6 Turbo (not the non-turbo) with manual gearbox or the 2.5L with the 8 speed auto are the two best choices. The 7 speed auto gearbox on the 2.0 is noisy and the 1.6 non-turbo makes the car way too slow

    • @jakes5530
      @jakes5530 Před 3 lety

      The 2018 has apple carplay and android auto in every trim except the base se. So if you have phone data, you can just use google maps, which is significantly better than any auto manufacturer's built-in navigation. Or you can pay thousands more for the "ultimate" trim which does have built-in gps.
