Yes he is good in bg but to use him you have to make sure your opponent doesn't have and insane attacker who can finish Fight quickly you really need a good defender to be safe and then only he will be really helpful for bg
One way to make him better in short fights to give him increased combat power rate while he enters speed burst for scaling with each momentum charge he has.
