    Thank you for pointing out that access is important to choosing processed vs non processed foods. Food banks primarily have access to and storage for these foods. People who live in places where there are no grocery stores and only have convenience stores have difficulty obtaining fresh or whole foods. It's not always a choice.

    The depression one pisses me off. Many people who are depressed experience appetite suppression, and will reach for highly palatable foods because it’s the only thing that they can get down. Let’s not also forget how overwhelming tasks can be when depressed, including cooking! 🙄🙄

    I love these and listen to them as if they are a podcast while I’m walking in the morning on Friday. So I definitely look forward to them. I love the segment you added at the end especially because I think you are a very important CZcamsr spreading a good message about food is all equal, obviously not nutritionally but you get it . I also hate that you get some heat on how you look so I’d love to hear you address some of those because I don’t think some of the comments you get are fair and I think it’s a good space for you to say your peace/respond. However you absolutely need to rework the name of the segment lol !!

    I am struggling with pretty consistent nausea due to chemotherapy, and I heard that eating protein can help with that. Is there any truth to that, and are there other foods that can help with that?

    For me its the same. "food" substances and drugs. Mac N cheese gets me WAY higher than petting a dog and the high lasts longer too! oreos get me high. Pizza gets me high, bagels get me high, pretzels, goldfish, candy, pie gets me high. Even whole grain bread gets me high. Smoothies get me high. all processed foods get me high. Even when it made me feel sick I would crave it and eat it the next day. After a year of this no food rules I went cold turkey for 2 weeks and finally the cravings went away. Now I feel amazing, energized and don't have problems around food. because if it doesn't get me high I only want it when my body is hungry. and when I crave it, its bc i want to get high. I never crave petting a dog. I crave processed foods. or used to.

    Hey not sure if you know but if you put a link in a CZcams shorts title it isn’t clickable. Putting it in a comment would probably increase traffic from CZcams

    I like shit on a social because it reminds me of shit on a shingle (chipped beef gravy on toast). 😋
    We never had fun shaped/character foods when I was a kid, and I never buy them for my own family because I'm a cheapskate. Well, I was feeling wild the other day and sprung for some Dino nuggets (store brand...). My too-cool-for-school 13 year old daughter SQUEALED in delight when she saw me packing them in her lunch. So I'm a convert, I'll be buying that sponge bob mac 😊

      Abbey sharp made a great video on this I think! The whole article was bananas filled with a lot of inaccurate info!

      @saville374 Před 9 měsíci

      @@ColleenChristensen Thank you for your reply! While I agree with Abbey's video and how stretched the original article is, I think that it will be best if it is addressed multiple times from this angle so word gets out. I'd also love to hear your personal views and experience with it but I know you are a very busy person so no worries :)

    This just made me sad. Dr Vera Tarman is a Canadian doctor ( addictions)who has changed my life by helping me let go of sugar and flour. I can take walks again after losing weight.Not everyone can moderate … not everyone needs to be abstinent, but for many of us none is easier. I can mindfully eat whole foods.

      @ColleenChristensen  Před 9 měsíci

      Everyone is different and can make the choices they wish! It’s not something I personally agree with nor would recommend as a registered dietitian ❤️ I do believe everyone can learn to eat in moderation. If you disagree that’s okay, you have the right to feel that way and do as you wish!

      Thank you. I do enjoy your work even if it doesn’t represent my experience. I am hoping food addiction becomes recognized soon. The tool used for my needs was the Yale Food Addiction Scale. Food sobriety has offered me peace but I agree this is not for everyone.

      I think social media dieticians these days mostly (if not only) focus on restrictive eating disorder recovery. That's probably who their target audience is - however, yet to see a social media dietician who makes that clear. Idk - I could be wrong ...

    You make a lot of good points but then you also say things that give me cognitive dissonance. For example, enjoyable books and shows don't contain neurotoxins and other harmful chemicals that overprocessed hyperpalatable foods do. that is not a fair comparison.
