Folsom Dam’s new spillway, a joint federal project

The Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have recently completed a major upgrade for the 60 year-old Folsom Dam, just outside of Sacramento, California-a new auxiliary spillway that improves flood risk reduction for the region’s nearly 1.5 million residents. Collaboration between federal and local agencies was key to the project’s success.
