- This a how to on making cheap traps from milk crates laying around. I was going to order traps online and they were $155 shipped for 5 but I still had to assemble and pour in concrete so I made my own. I have around $40 in the 5 that I made.
PERFECT, Thanks Man!!!
As a drunk guy watching this I dam near spit out my beer🤣
Great video! Best looking one's I have seen👍🏻
Much like I was thinking
Best I've seen though I would change the doors type and location get the bait box in the middle
Great job man. Ur way seems to be the best so far with the milk crates.
Can’t wait to see a video on these crates in action.
We didn't have a good 1st pull but we moved them to a different location
Every time we checked them, nothing. I witnessed someone else checking them for me the other day. So we moved them to a completely different location.
I would like to see how you poured the concrete in the crate. Even if it didn’t work very well I say that is still a great job and idea. I have all this stuff laying around too.
I set the crates on cardboard and just simply poured it into the crate
Well, they didn't work out like I was hoping. I put 5 out and they only caught blue crabs. I put out 2 wire blue crab traps and caught 7 monster stone crabs? So I don't know what to say?
I think I just watched the drunk guy earlier
What’s the measurements when you put 2 crates together? How many escape vents required on the larger 2 crate design? Great video, been looking for one with lots of details, FWC are the worst!
Good setup except for 2 things I noticed. It didn’t look like you coved the hole handles ! If you did, disregard. If not the crabs climbed in and out at will. The hole is about the same as your funnel hole.
2nd was the bungee door. It’s unnecessary really because you should just zip tie the door closed with big thick ties. That’s to keep drive by thieves from stealing. Most of them won’t have heavy cutters on board to cut it open and steal your crabs. You lock them up just before dropping. When going back to check just bring more ties and snips to replace. And, if you go to pull your traps and the ties are cut off. You also, know someone is stealing too. If just that bungee hook you would never know if someone pulled your trap and stole and re-locked it.
I didn't, but they are small and wouldn't produce legal crabs
I only use wire traps because they out catch plastic any day!
@@Wishard_Wire_Co Wrong again, a proper wire trap, and a proper plastic trap will yield the same It’s all about location and bait !
I’ve been doing this for 30 years! I think i know what I’m talking about.
Plus you don’t mention the secret trap scent bomb that brings in the crabs like crazy. So, you’re not in the loop of long generation Florida crabbers.
Sorry I didn't realize who I was replying to
@@jimscott4539I was hoping to go on your channel and gain a wealth of knowledge about anything but all I see is how to play video games😂
Can't
The 🦀 crab 🦀 crawl 🔙 back out through the funnel #hole especially if they #R small
Stone crabs aren't as likely to escape, but since blues can swim they might get out when no bait is present
Why not cut a place for the funnel in the bottom with a jig saw, and close to open side with concrete using couple of stay bolts through the crate.
I'm convinced that the wire traps catch better
What is the #blue funnel for on the top
That's the entrance
Can't the crabs get out any of the holes?
They have to be a certain size anyway here in Florida
I would be very careful. Possession of a branded milk crate is 1000 fine and up to a year in jail. I know Dean went bk but their assets were purchased by other companies.
Hell if I had a certain last name I could get away with anything. I don't have them any more anyway.
lol or first name Hunter!? I got it. @@Wishard_Wire_Co
