    You are literally the only person I've seen that has shown the entire detailed process of creating teeth! This makes me so happy because I have uneven teeth and I want to make my own vampire teeth because I've NEVER been able to wear both fangs in a set. I honestly can't wait to do this for myself and for my family members I know who really want fangs but our teeth were fucked because of our family genes 😭. Thank you SO much.

    Is there a clear point where you'd want to do something more like the "zombie teeth" tutorial where you showed how to also sculpt gums instead of just making fangs that cover multiple teeth, or is it a matter of preference?

    I have my stone casted teeth that i did in dental assisting school, would there be a difference between using stone and plaster casted teeth?

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 5 lety

      Your stone teeth casts are made of a stronger material but it would work fine. The hydrocal plaster I am using in this video is more similar to stone than plaster. For example, Plaster of Paris is an example of a very poor and weak plaster it is nothing like the hydrocal stone I use all the time.

    • @alytipton7473
      @alytipton7473 Před 5 lety

      Oh ok i thought i had heard you call them plaster.

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 5 lety

      @@alytipton7473 Yes, some stones are often called plaster. Very hard plasters are considered a type of stone. Hydrocal and Ultracal (Plaster/stone) used to be used in the dental industry until newer more refined stones came on the market.

    are you using the same kind of acrylic people use for nail art?

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 7 lety +3

      No. Dental Acrylic is much harder and the colors or shades are different than nail acrylics. They are very different materials. I know people that have tried to use nail acrylics for character teeth. Its very hard to get close to the teeth color and they were very fragile/brittle and not very real looking.

    • @kt7087
      @kt7087 Před 7 lety +1

      neat!
      it just looks kinda similar I guess. if you ever get your nails done or watch a video about it you pick up the acrylic the same way (dipping it in liquid and then in powder then apply to the surface)
      thanks for answering!

    is there a way to strengthen them so they last longer and allow you to eat with them in

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 9 lety

      ART BENDERS Nope. The material is not made for that. You would have to have a dentist make fangs out of porcelain or whatever material dentures are made of. These acrylic teeth are fragile and only used as a prop.

    Awesome video! I have a question though about the monomer. I've heard some very scary things about the toxicity of that stuff and being exposed to the fumes. I have read that it can cause respiratory problems, organ damage (including kidney and liver damage) and more. Maybe this is personal to ask but have you had any health complications from using it? I was using it last night in an FX kit I got from a specific FX company and I was indoors when I should have been outside probably. I had a ventilator on but mine isn't the best one out there and sometimes fumes still come through. I also had taken my gas mask off for a couple of minutes and was hit with a huge blast of fumes..the smell was terrible. All night after that I felt like crap, my nose burned and the left side of my lungs did hurt a little. Maybe I'm over analyzing it but it's pretty scary to me when I read about the side effects it can cause and long-term damage. On top of that, the package didn't really give any of that warning type of info on it which was upsetting (I had to look it up), but it did say only use in a well ventilated area. Do you have thoughts on this or have any reactions to it? I'm really worried for my health (not to mention I already have a chronic heart/nervous system condition so I'm afraid of getting sicker)..:(

    • @JanelleJexArt
      @JanelleJexArt Před 7 lety

      Sometimes it's scary being an artist who works with toxic chemicals! At least things like paint thinner have huge warnings on them though. The monomer didn't really have much info on it..I had to find out the hard way... I suppose next time I will be creating teeth outdoors so it's extremely well-ventilated.

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 7 lety +1

      The teeth acrylic and liquid are similar to what is used for acrylic nails just a higher strength and the color is adjusted to teeth shades. Yes the fumes are strong as you probably know walking by a nail salon, the smell can be overwhelming. I recommend working in a well ventilated area maybe with a fan blowing the fumes outdoors or under a ventilated hood. I agree with you, the chemicals used in Makeup Effects are strong and unhealthy, always take precautions when working with any chemicals. Thanks for your comments :)

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 7 lety +1

      The monomer is basically similar to that used in nail salons where acrylic nails are done. I agree it's toxic. I like to do my teeth creating with a fan blowing away from me and venting to the outside. It makes me sick as well.

    hi, great video!! very cool.... thanks for charing it :) .... i have a question, when i search at ebay for "acrylic powder", the most results are acrylic powder for nail art. do you happen to know, if it is the same powder? if it can be used for this dental work, as well?? thank youuu :)

      +Carina De Jesus - Hochzeitssängerin in Hamburg und Umgebung
      Hi Carina, I do not recommend nail acrylic because it is much softer and will crack or break very easy, plus I don't know of you can even find the shades that match teeth in nail acrylics. In my video description I recommend several companies that have dental acrylic. You can even try dental companies in your country see if they sell to the public. Sometime they will if you explain that you are an effects artist and are creating character teeth for a movie or play or something.

    About how much do all the supplies for a project like this cost?

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 8 lety +1

      +KissyLipRaptor
      All supplies are under $100.00. This is a rough estimate for 2016. And with the supplies purchased you may be able to make several sets of fangs since you cannot really purchase the exact amount for one set of fangs. In other words the acrylic powder costs under $10.00 for an OZ. that could make around 4 to 6+ sets of fangs. If you went in with some friends on supplies you could make them even cheaper.

    • @EggHeadFX
      @EggHeadFX  Před 9 lety +1

      James Hoare No you cannot. They are not designed for eating. These teeth are props only. If you try to eat with them in your mouth they will brake apart and you have a chance of swallowing them. False teeth are made out of a different and stronger material.
