Eddi is the only artist that when I went to one of her concerts, she asked the audience for requests and sung every song requested. Great voice, talent and person.
Though being German and probably the lousiest guitarist one can imagine, I just ordered a „Robbie Burns“ songbook some 3 days ago! Can’t wait for it to arrive and get myself acquainted with „Robbie‘s“ compositions and poetry 🤗😍🥰😘! Thank you so very much for your wonderful artistry and your sweet voice, Eddie 🤩🥳😍!
@@herbertmarques4424 Well 🤔🙄! Being a non native speaker and only having scratched the surface of the „Scots“ dialect, I misheard the proper pronunciation of Robert Burns‘s nickname used by the Scots! It is indeed „Rabbie Burns“, not Robbie 😘!
My Mum came from Scotland and arrived in Australia at the age of 4. She died last year 96 years old. This song was played at her funeral. She may have held an Australian passport but she died a Scot.
Condolences on the passing of your Mother, But, as my own Mother, from Motherwell Scotland, who passed a few years ago in Montreal used to say, ye cin tack the Scot oot aye Scotland but ye'll never tack Scotland oot o the Scot. Best Wishes!
Thanks for sharing the feelings. I am an Indian living in Indonesia. Indian folk songs too very interesting. But my children are not good at Indian languages. So they have to learn and excel in English. May my children learn to from scot songs . Nowadays they love to play *ae fond kiss*
Such a beautiful song performed by such a beautiful woman. What a stunning voice. Burns lives on trough the music. So glad Eddi returned to folk music. It seems to be her true musical home.
There's nothing more moving than listening to a Scottish folk song being sung by a singer with a pure natural Scottish accent/voice. Eddi does so much justice to this ballad. Eddi's guitar skills are really great as well. As for 'specs' which commenter, down below remarked on; well, I guess, Eddi needed them to play guitar. I'm definitely going to purchase her Robbie Burns CD. I was so bowled over with her modern rendition of Auld Lange Synge that she sung some years ago at Scottish parliament.
Eddi Reader haunts my dreams....I sometimes connect with the spirit of Robert Burns and I believe he would have loved the way that Eddi treats his songs.
I’ve always loved Robert Burns’ poems, and this piece is my absolute favourite. I’ve recited it to my wife a few times over the years. I had wondered how it would sound like if Robbie Burns himself delivered this beautiful sonnet. I think Eddi Reader captured the pensive essence of the poem beautifully with her mellifluous rendition. Brava Ms. Reader !!
Eddi you are a beautiful bonnie Las with a sweet vice that sends a haunting shiver down any ones spine fair play to you keep it up greetings from Ireland
we have a Burns supper on the 25th Jan My Dad he's gone now) but he gave the toast to the haggis, and I sang My love is like a red, red Rose.we still do it, and it brings back a wee bit Hame! Eddie has a beautiful voice , I'm sitting here Greeting HaHa thank you for for this terrific video
A poet put it to script not a song writer. Reader keep Burns intend on top as she sing his poem. AAAaa to me her voice brings out a love Burns at some time must of felt. Bravo. No voted needed.
I need to get a grip of myself.......tears blinding me again. What is it with this lassie... singing Burns, she gets me every time. She's coming to my local in Mauchline next Wednesday 21st Aug, can't wait!!! Robin Topping 17th Aug 2109
Robert would have sat there in the corner while Eddi was singing. They would have had eye contact.....When Eddi had a break she would have been drawn to Robert, he may have bought her a drink or two.....they would have ended up lovers.....for the night, for a year or two but really forever......love is all there really is.
Eddi is the only artist that when I went to one of her concerts, she asked the audience for requests and sung every song requested. Great voice, talent and person.
Played this at my husband’s funeral the words said how I felt, a very lovely song sang so perfectly by Eddi Reader brought tear’s to my eyes.

Fantastic. Eddi
yeah, so much to love about Eddi....hope truly she is well ....
Why has this only got 796 likes and Justin Bieber gets millions. 30 dislikes people clearly don't know talent👌🏽
condtioned by teh record companies to like rubbish
Becca Luce this is music, art, aural sculpture, etc. Bieber is a sales commodity.
Its braw. But it doesnt matter if Justin Beiber gets millions. It not a competition. And there is no accounting for taste.
You really can't figure it out?
As long as you like it,thats all that matters.
Well guys, This is my cousin. YEEEAA BOYYYYYY
