Hi All - As announced in this video (bit.ly/3eduRGS) I’ve launched a Career Consulting / Life Chatting “Service” where I’m meeting people virtually for 30 minute sessions. I’m continuing to make videos and answering every question I can in the comments as always and live streaming every Wednesday at 10pm EST, but this is a good opportunity if you’re in need of individually catered advice. If you’re interested, please fill out this form forms.gle/LRdnvX7inZWYoBrj7 Looking forward to hearing from you!
I do think most of us are here for your personality, not 'just investment banking content'. Much love from Belgium btw!
Agree
Not true
Agreed, looking forward to see more from Bryan!
Same here, love from Brussels ;)
Truly appreciate this thanks much
Not sure why this was recommended to me (I'm not in investment banking), but I've been seeing a lot of "why I quit" videos lately. I think this pandemic has given people a lot of time to reflect and gain some clarity as to what is important to them and what they want to do in life. Best of luck to you in your new journey!
definitely a very reflective time - thanks so much!
I came for the IB content, I stayed bc of Bryan's cool personality
Appreciate this a lot
I want M&A or Corporate Finance content
I just wanna thank you for your authenticity through every video! As a junior in college interested in business and constantly being in events feeling like people are not mostly truthful you are a breath of fresh air! Most of this channel will support you no matter what you do because of your personality, not just because of your job title and industry you're in!
Appreciate this a lot thanks!
These last images sent me flashback of your first ever video with your characteristic "let's gooooooo" TT, happy that you managed to do well through your banking years and wishing you good luck for your next step !
Thanks so much lehgooooo
“A job should be a means to an end. A job should enable you to do the things you actually want to do” - and this extrapolation from life is why we will never unsubscribe from you big B. I can see why you were an amazing RA and why that job is one of many that will guide your heart. Much love big B.
Hey Bryan, I can't agree more with your introspection. Seems like we're in the same headspace as I'm in that transition now as I move on from selling residential real estate. I think the biggest lesson I got was to take inventory of your personality and to chase your curiosity, albeit still having the means to take care of yourself financially.
We're both in our early 20's and I think having these working experiences with time to reflect will afford us good direction in the future. Keep making content! I get some inspiration for my channel from your stuff.
Thanks so much best of luck on your journey
I've first came upon your channel because I wanted to learn more about banking, , I directly liked the way you approach things so I am pretty sure I'm gonna follow your journey! Thanks for being so transparent!
@@boycewatkins9035 fake account
I really really appreciate this
Thanks for always sharing your insight and being so personal about it! There are always gonna be ppl disagreeing/holding different views (and I know that u probably know that and handle it pretty well), so glad to see you are staying true and just being yourself w the channel :))
gotta be bold! thank you
Hey Bryan, going through the same thing! Been working in IB for a breef time and coudn’t take it anymore! It’s nice to see someone in a similar situation - calms the soul. keep up w/ the good vids,! we’re here for your personality and not for banking itself! Cheers from Brazil
Nice! Thanks so much
Totally agree with you. I joined banking (not IB, but another front line unit) half a year ago, and people are so overworked and processes are so inefficient. Working from home is really making things worse. Good luck on your next journey! I'd love to hear more about how you handled doing public content while having an employer :)
I think most would agree, subscribers/consistent viewers are here for you, your personality, and your opinions. Not just your field (now prior field. Best of luck going forwards!
Thanks so much!!!
We love to see it! Best of luck with it all Bryan. Keep posting we still love your content whatever you decide to do!!
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and thoughts! I found you because of the IB videos but I will still watch your videos and believe that you would do great wherever you go!
Congrats on your transition! You've given us amazing insight into the banking/finance world. Excited to see what you're going to be up to in the near future! Cheers my friend
Thanks so much!!
I did find your channel from an IB search but I subscribed for your personality actually. Def staying. Good luck with what you're doing next!
Thank you I'll try my best!
It’s been awesome seeing your unbiased ride my dude. Can’t wait to see where you go in life next 😉
I'll try my best to stay unbiased thank you!
Great vid! Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Thanks!
Here with you no matter what brother! Best of luck with everything!!
Thank you!!!
Hey Bryan thank you for the update!
I love this channel because you rather than investment banking contents. Good luck and excited for your future!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. This was honest and positive and exactly what we need.
You are so welcome
have worked in trading (2005-2010), IB (2010-2012) and then trading again (2012-) and have seen a few guys like you come through the grad schemes, all with arts degrees (especially history), who did a good job, but weren't interested in finance in general, and left after
thanks so much for sharing your experience and the kind words!
I have consumer banking experience but I didn’t go to college and I’m trying to break into a larger entity such as GS, MS, or JPM any tips where to start? Thank you!
It's always fun to watch your videos - thanks for those. I am looking forward to your "non-banking" related videos. All the best, Bryan! Cheers :)
Thank you so much!
Good luck and I look forward to following your journey!
Thanks so much!
Good luck wherever u head to!! Keep us posted
Watch my very next video :)
Awesome video man. I recently discovered my passion and amidst burnouts and disinterest, I decided to start recruiting to exit banking. This is exactly the normal people talk I needed.
Goooood stuff
came for banking, stayed for bryan. whatever you’re up to buddy. i’m behind you
this is awesome really appreciate it
thank you for all the IB content Brian! we support you in your next steps!
Thanks!
I knew you would do it soon. Every IB analyst/associate doing YT videos is deliberating on leaving or waiting to leave. Either way, good decision! Big luck for your future endeavours and keep up posted!
Really appreciate it!
Good luck bro. Be proud of yourself!
Excited to hear about your next steps!
It's coming!
Thanks for the guidance, Bryan. Hope things pan out for you. Cheers!
Thank you!
Thanks for giving genuine guidance!!
We will follow you ahead!!
thank you!
All your previous videos have been honest and insightful. You seem like a cool guy regardless. I will stick around to follow your journey whatever you do next. I don’t blame you for leaving the industry either (from someone else in the industry)
This is great thanks much
The reason I subscribed to your channel is not IB. Your personality, your way of delivery, etc. keep up the great work!
Thank you!
great video man, i discovered your channel last year when i wanted to get into IB, but a few weeks ago i decided I'm going to try and pursue my true passion instead of just money. don't stop uploading!! you are a cool dude my guy
Thanks so much appreciate it best of luck
Mason Styles what’s ur true passion?
Great video Bryan, your videos have been awesome! Looking forward to your next updates!
Thank you!
Can't wait to see what you do next !
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this video :) I am having the same thoughts about my career and this video was very cathartic.
glad you liked it!
Hey Bryan, thanks for providing us all of the beneficial information regarding banking. I look forward to watching the next video about your next step!
Thanks much!
I'm a product designer (with zero intention of ever going into finance so I have no idea why this video was recommended lmao) but you have a new subscriber! Looking forward to see what you get up to.
LOL that's awesome thanks much
Eyo bro thanks for all the past content, we appreciate you sharing your experiences, good luck with your future steps. Side note, brother you gotta drop that skincare routine cause damn my guy.
Thanks so much HAHAH I don't have one unfortunately...
Were here for the rest of your journey brother!
Appreciate it!
I’m really excited to see what you’re gonna do next!
It's coming!
Firm was Goldman sachs
Yo Bryan, I came to your channel for Investment Banking and stayed because of your awesome personality! I'm excited to see where life takes you, brother!
Awesome! Thank you!
Good luck in your next steps!
Lmao imagine trying to scam with a fake profile
Thanks so much!
Fair play lad. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you!
dont even want to go into IB but subscribed to you for your realness.
Thank you so much!
I’m an analyst at an American investment bank Japan office, M&A team, and have enjoyed watching your video! Your video makes me feel that regardless of the location the IB juniors are facing very much the same troubles and stress...
Have a peaceful break and wish you will love what you do next!! (Will definitely keep watching your video so keep going!)
I live in the american gardens building on West 81st Street. On the 11th floor.
Yup, Rates derivatives junior.. it’s wild
Hi, what a coincidence, I am in Japan too and interested in IB, would be great to connect!
You got this! Thanks so much
Can't believe I still ran into you on Mich Ave. I know you're definitely gonna kill it wherever you go! Also, thanks for accepting my LinkedIn request.
HAHA one of the best moments of my life! Hope you're well
Hey Bryan, thanks for being so real with us. Wondering if you could give some advice on how you build your relationships in banking, did you ever get caught up in the competition / ranking system, and how did you deal with office politics.
my firm was pretty chill no feeling of competition, can't speak for all first though
We love you Bryan you are stuck with us. 💕💕💕
Thank you!
Good luck Bryan! I wish u the best!!!
Thanks!
I would agree with the comments here, saying that we came to enjoy the informative content in addition to your personality! Judging from the comments, it looks like you won’t have a problem keeping your viewers! It’ll be interesting to see which exit opportunity you are pursuing. Wishing you the best. Onward and upward! Here to stay as a long term sub ma dawg
Thanks so much!
Good luck to you!
Hey Bryan, really enjoy your videos I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
Thank you!
Excited to see the next chapter brother 👊
Thank you!
Best of luck!!!
Thank you!
love the hand sanitizer affiliate link
hahahahah stay clean~!
yo Bryan, followed u from the start and will still be supporting and watching ur vids
Be awesome to see ur journey to ur new job or career and where that takes u
Thanks so much!
Bryan, sad to hear your leaving Lincoln. We met shortly during the Lincoln analyst programme in Chicago during 2019. I work in the Stockholm office and came across your youtube channel. Keep up the good work with these videos and good luck!
Henrik!! Good to hear from you hope youre well
Best of luck in the future, man!
Thank you!
Nothing annoys me more than organizations that don't question their old outdated processes. I remember this one time I was producing a report for over a year that literally no one looked at but for some reason my manager had me doing on a weekly basis. I got so annoyed with it one day I went around the office and asked every person if they ever looked at or needed this report at any point of the year. No one knew what the hell the report was and my manager's head was still stuck 10 years in the past and never thought to question anything. I told him no one needs this and I'm not doing it anymore and he accepted it.
can't agree more - we should always question outdated practices for better design / execution
You not losing us! I can’t wait to hear about how your new pathway goes! You leaving investment banking makes you more relatable as those of us interested in the field aren’t interested in staying there forever!
Ignore that fake account guys
Appreciate it so much!
Completely makes sense! And hey you got have said a lot worse things, keep it up, we're here for the journey!
Really appreciate it!
Man I’m glad I am not the only one who was thinking about this. I was a former analyst and now AVP in middle market banking. I agree with you 100%! Unfortunately I don’t find what I do fulfilling and I feel like there’s way to life and purpose. Best wishes to you!
Best of luck thanks!
Big fan!! Wondering if you could make a video on how you’re paying for your student loan debt or manage your finances?
I have a retirement video way back but will probs do an update on that
Guys don’t trust the fake Bryan in the comments who wants you to give him money!
I guess I'm famous enough to have a fake account!
Been here from vid one it’s been a journey man! I look forward to the following content 😄
Thanks much
yo Bryan, you’re a great guy. Loved watching your videos. wish you the very best bro. Don’t leave CZcams anytime soon xD
Thank you I think I'm here to stay!
Let that PE content come 🔥🔥🔥🤙
Not PE!!
@@TheBryanJun good luck! No matter what your next step is 💪
found you for banking advice but stayed for your voice tbh so you could talk about anything
thanks so much!
I definately do agree finance is not the field for everyone right now. I even would say that most young people right now would not necessarily like banking just because of the bureaucracy. I feel fintech companies is a area where innovation is at the core of the culture so if you like innovation and finance might be something to look into. I believe learning how to code effectively is a good starting salary as well for a undergraduate with more value in the long run for a person starting salaries can easily be on the 80k plus side depending on where you work. Hours are a lot shorter than IB as well in general except when critical deadlines are around the corner.
Great insights
How much did you need saved to feel comfortable quitting
I love how you grinned when you said IF things get better hehehe
hahahahahahahahaha matttttt
What is starting salary range for investment banking in Canada? Anyone knows?
No idea about canada but US starts at 85-90 base
Hey Bryan, your experience as an investment banker is great. I respect your transition! My assumption is that you had to keep up with markets and politics, is it possible you can probably shed light on major economic headlines? Like your thoughts, how it is impactful to certain sectors etc etc. It somewhat keeps in line with your idea that you want to express your mind.
Thanks!
this is a great idea - I'm definitely no expert but I can try
This is the first video of you that I have seen and I immediately subscribed, not for the IB content but because you are awesome. Best of luck for the future, I am sure that you
will do great.
Thanks so much!!
Best of luck you’re a very cute eloquent young man I am sure you will do well whatever your path holds
Thanks so much!
Congrats!
Thank you!
As most people here (I think), I came for the IB content but sticked for the personality. IMO some of your best videos are not IB related such as the friends one. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks so much!
We're here for you brother! ,😃
Thanks!
sad to see you go :( were you able to get your bonus at a prorated rate or did you give it up?
my firm was a yearly schedule so no stub!
Hey Bryan! what's your linkedIn? I would like to connect with you!
Hey Bryan, will still follow this channel whatever the path is. Quick question, for a 3rd year with no internships coming up for the summer should I take a 5th year so I could apply again for internships next summer?
I wouldn't recommend a fifth year (just because idk many around me who has done that)
@@TheBryanJun thanks man, Any alternatives? Or just gotta do MBA route at this point. Sorry for the questions 😅
Awesome story
Next video: Starting my new Job in private equity
Good guess but nope!
@@TheBryanJun Corp dev
Hedge fund?
@@TheBryanJun Next video: Starting my new job in venture capital
I'm guessing consulting
Serious question though. Was the money even worth it. Like how much do you even have saved if most of it is spent on rent and do you think bankers have good saving habits
rent wasn't too bad esp with covid prices and I think bankers are typically good with money especially rn when there's nothing to spend it on!
How did you find interviewing for other roles, whilst working such long hours in IB?
Ignore that fake Bryan account
The hustle is real
@@TheBryanJun I've seen scammers do the same thing on other investment related channels. Same name and profile picture as the channel they are commenting under, commenting about crypto and other shit.
When did you get to a point where you wanted to leave?
Thanks for the video,
Just think that we have one life, and sometime we have to do change, be healthy it is #1, try to have a good time for Yourself, and stay strong, there is a lot of very interesting things you can do and actually be happy , even not making money as IB ( but I think they are underpay ) they give their lives out and years ....
can't agree more!
How long would you say a reasonably smart person would have to study before being able to go into banking? And what salary do you think that person with no experience other than self study, no college degree, would be able to start off at salary wise? Obviously COL depends but just would like to hear what you think!! Thanks for the account content, you’re interesting to watch and explain things clearly and concisely!
summer internships are usually after junior year of college with interviews during soph/junior; salaries are pretty standard with analysts starting around the 90k mark nation wide before bonuses
It's beyond 9-5 job, it's about what brings fulfillment !!
true
What I like about Bryan is that, while he personally chose to leave investment banking, he doesn't speak negatively about his firm, colleagues, or the career . He also strays away from the toxic nature that many other CZcamsrs have, which only adds to the genuine nature of the channel. When I found Bryan's channel, I was still interested in pursuing Investment banking. I eventually changed my mind but I still enjoy watching every new video. I think everyone can agree that your personality and authenticity have contributed the most to your success on CZcams. It's rare to find these types of people anymore, but I know all 11.4k of us are glad we found you.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
I got a weird question for you Bryan. Were you part of the Cadaver society at Washington and Lee and does it really exist
hahahahahahahahah
I have the opportunity to step into retail banking, but until a few months ago I wanted to step into investment banking. Now I am considering to join given that I have a genuine interest in banking but I still doubt myself a little bit.
Best of luck! Make sure you put some thought into it
Hey Bryan! I’m working as associate at Big4 valuation in Tokyo, have been following you for a while now, and love your videos!! Wondering if I could ask you some questions after your vacation as I’m considering sending application to the firm you worked at😅
Happy to answer questions here!
@@TheBryanJun Hey! Thank you so much for your reply! So my questions would be ① What made you chose the firm you worked for, as I don't know anyone around me going to the firm, and it would be great if you could please tell me some key reasons for you to choose the firm over others. ② Why mid-cap IB?
From Florida with love bro 😎
Love me some florida!
