Please give my love to everyone in beautiful Ladakh! This is a great video and I would really like a translation. I am sending it to my geology professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder. I will let you know his feedback on these rocks and their origin so that you will know how they got this look. Since the Himalayas are so old, it should be a very interesting explanation. Of course, we do not mean any disrespect to Rimpoche or all of you in the video, but I thought you would all like to know the geologic history of the place where you live and the places that you love. Om Mani Padme Hum _/\_ Altho I cannot understand the explanation, I am guessing that these places are sacred to Milarepa and/or Guru Padmasambhava? Since these rocks were formed long before Guru Rimpoche's and Milarepa's lifetimes, I thought understanding their formation would be of great interest to all of you. Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padme Siddhi Hum! _/\_

Not for the want of trying, it's because of tibet that we're no longer a nation and just a small UT in India, tibet kept warring with us, even though being a buddhist nation, first they tried with mongolians from nubra but failed, then they tried again with help of dzungar Mongols from changthang, because of which Ladakhi king had to get help from mughal empire to defeat the tibetans and mongols and even after that tibet still attacked later and put Basgo and Tingmosgang under seige for 3 months before signing the treaty of tingmosgang. After that Ladakh kept degrading and fell to sikh empire, without any help from tibet. Long before it was a part of tibetan empire but later divided into its own kingdom, our first kings are direct descendents of tibetan kings. The constant raids and attacks by the 5th dalai lama were damaging to ladakh, otherwise Ladakh's territory during king tsewang namgyal is from guge, tsaparang in east to skardo in pakistan and nubra in the north to spiti and zanskar to south, it was very big, a kingdom of its own, now its a small part of India.
