- I will be showing you how to wrap a stone with hemp string in this video. No glue needed. Wrapping a stone can open the door to lots of creative ideas. This is the first of a couple of videos that I have planned. In the next video I will show you several ideas that I have come up with and the different things we can wrap... even seashells. I love to use different strings also. (yarn, crochet string, hemp string and twine) I also plan to make a video to show you how I made this necklace and how I attach a wrapped gemstone. It really does make a beautiful necklace. We CAN make beautiful jewelry that is original but it does not have to have a high cost. The best part is... IT IS SO MUCH FUN!! They make awesome gifts too!! Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss anything. Thank you so much for watching!

watching this 11 years later and its so helpful, but on top of that its so nostalgic and heartwarming. the clip at the end made me tear up because i miss those early 2000s days
My grand daughters painted lots of stones they will make perfect necklaces!
explained very well but the music sounds like horror movie music where the girl is tied up and about to get butchered by the psycho while she screams her heart out
+Henry Geyser OMG! That music so did sound like that!!! I had to watch it again to pay attention to the music in the background, because I was so intent on what she was showing us to do with the strings! That is so creepy!
It's the melody of Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera! AHHH
😂😂😂 yes I agree
But it also sounds like one of those antique music boxes but I get the horror movie side of it to cause thinking of it in those terms it reminded me of a killer clown movie I saw on lifetime movie network then I thought well it sounds kinda like an antique music box in a way too haha 😂
Good job explaining it in a easy to understand way I’m going to give it a shot
Thank you, I been trying to learn how to do this ever since I a guy at a festival doing it. Your instructions are clear and easy to understand.
Aww That is awesome. Thank you so very much for your lovely comment. I am so happy that it will help. :) Yay.
This tutorial is the easiest to follow. Oh my goodness thank you so much!
Katie Black Thank you Katie. :) OXOXO
Hi NeeNee. I am so very happy that this video will help you decorate your many stones. :) It always makes my heart smile when I hear that one of our videos makes a difference in someones life. Thank you for sharing. :)
Gracias por compartir, este video lo vi hace como 10 años, me encantó, y lo busqué por que se me olvidó como era el engarce, pero ya lo encontré de nuevo, aun sigue en la plataforma, me da gusto, saludos desde Guanajuato México
I am so excited that you learned how to do it!! WooHoo!! That is great!! I am glad you kept on trying and figured it out. You will really enjoy making them and you will get fast at it after you practice more. Thank you so much for your feedback. :) You made my day.
Great video. Can’t wait to try wrapping my stones
Thank you for sharing your talent. Very clear instructions. Being a "rock-hound" I have years of pretty rocks that may lend themselves to this craft in a more rustic way than the gemstones. It may be awhile before I try this, but when I do, I'll share the results with you! Blessings.
Thanks for showing the cradle part works really well! I did it a bit different but ended up looking great! I had already made a necklace and just made the loop around the necklace, loosely to be able to slide. And finished a bit different but end result is good!
Would love to see how you did urs
I sat down and worked through this tutorial this afternoon, it may have taken me 4 hours but I eventually did it and am so chuffed. I can't wait to find the time to learn the necklace part. It was slow knotting for me as I had to go the exact opposite to what I usually knot but I got there in the end :)
can't wait to try. thank you for making this and showing how easy it it base on your clear instructions.
+Ariel Marie Thank you very much Ariel. :) OXOX
Hey Swagboy...
I just want to say that Crystals have healing powers from way back..
They are awesome.
I am a Reiki Master and Medium and I also use Crystal Therapy in my work.
So you can google about crystals and their powers of healing or how to program them.
I wear a Crystal every day. Amethyst is my favorite.
I wish you luck and wish you healing with your adventures with Crystals.
much love and blessings to you and those you love.
Thank you very much Serenity. :) Nice to meet you. I am so happy that this video will encourage you to wear your crystals in a new way. That is so awesome!! Many blessings to you too.
Hi Anna Humphries. Yay! I am so glad you like it and will give it a try. I had to practice doing this a bunch at first but once I got the hang of it, it was so EASY. You will enjoy doing it if you like to macrame. The end result is so awesome. :)
Thank you so very much for your kind reply, I am watching the video as we speak! Gonna run to the kitchen to make some dinner and then i am gonna try it out. I'ts gonna be fun! Your video's are great to watch and your positive energy wanted to make me start without making dinner almost. ;)
loved your demonstration
Wow, awesome tutorial. So easy and so cool looking! Thank you.
Rad! I'm always bringing home cool rocks that just sit around the house. Now I know what I'll be doing this weekend!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your help :) I am looking forward to completing this portion of the necklace.
Have a great night!
When I can get around to finishing it I will show you!! I have run out of cord so am using scraps to macrame and glue my ends! Waiting for my cord to arrive from eBay is taking too long. Love your video's. Only just started creating things from macrame a week or so ago. X
I've been trying to find a way to use all the polished stones i have laying around and my extra hemp... this was very helpful! thank you!
This is so much easier of a wrap!
Yay! That is so exciting!! I am so happy to hear that this helped you. Thank you SO MUCH for your feedback. I really appreciate it. :)
I love the way you explain your videos. You create beautiful jewelry
I was watching this video at 4am and the combination of her voice and the music made me nod off twice. Nice video.
Thank you. I love working with hemp and wire. Been looking for a tutorial and your video is fantastic.
thank you for taking the time to create a tutorial! I love this idea! I would love to see some of your other tutorials as well please!
+Beth Keller Thank you Beth. :)
Thanks Dawn Theiss. I will be working on that video soon. I have moved that project to the top of the list.. It has been a busy summer so that is why I have not done it yet. Thank you for asking. I will be sure to make the video ASAP. These necklaces are awesome and it has always been my plan to show everyone how to attach the wrapped stone. Fun stuff. :) You will love to make these as gifts... or even to sell. :) They are so beautiful.
Q preciosidades, y original, beautiful
Yay!! I am glad you like it. :) Thank you. Hugs!
You are very welcome culpagirl. I also made a video on how to attach it to the necklace if you think you may need help with that. If you have any questions I will try to answer them as best I can. Thank you so much for watching.
I am so glad that you found this tutorial helpful. The very first bracelet that I made with macrame was made from this technique. I remember thinking that it reminded me of lace. :) It was so pretty to me. Thanks so much for your feedback. By the way, I love your name. Joni. It is my name too. :)
Thank you do much for this tutorial! :) i was already somewhat familiar with macrame, but really wanted to incorporate my favorite lsbradorite cabochon in a necklace. all the other tutorials seemed so complicated! this one used a technique i was already familiar with but with only a couple differences, so it wasn't too difficult for me :) thanks again!!
Watching this brings me so much peace. Thank you. :)
Your so awesome!. second time watching this video. I'm age 27 and I loved how simple and fun It was. The music is childlike so it made me feel like I was in my childhood art class! lol :) THANKS YOU!!!
Hay MissDills I got ur message again...lol..about the video..Deadr
How dtrange I recived your post again..Deadra
Anyone that is on Google plus deadra. Can see whatever eachother writes on random CZcams videos. That's how Google plus works. It wasn't directed to you silly lol :-)
Awww thank you SO MUCH MissDills. :) Your comment made me smile so much!! I love your positive response to the music. hehe Awesomeness. Hugs!!
Hi shantizzlerose. I have another video on how to do the necklace. I actually made a couple of videos to go with this one. :) I recently uploaded a video on how to do the clasp to the necklace if you need a little extra explanation on how to do the clasp. The necklaces are such fun to make and they make great gifts. I also made a wind chime using this technique. Thank you so much for your feedback. :o)
very nice tutorial, I have a small amethyst stone and im going to put it into a necklace using this tutorial. Thank you:)
I've never heard the song playing called The Music of the Night Like this before. It's sounds like a broken music box lol. I love this tutorial.
I had to teach myself how to do most of this but had some help from a post that helped my creativity flow. I had to practice a lot in order to attach the wrapped gem to the necklace. I will do another video on how to do that soon. The boys are so funny. I love how they make me laugh. We went to Lowes today to get garden stuff and you will never guess what they wanted me to get them. Lets just say that their Aunt Glenda got it for them. PINK FLAMINGOS! HAHAHA An epic giggle for me!!
Thankyou!! Really needed a good video to show me how as I also have lots of stones to use! Making a gothic style twist macrame necklace at the moment n am hanging a glass heart from a skull and needed this technique thankyou!! X
Used this tutorial to wrap D20 dice for my dungeon and dragon friends... thank you so much!!
That is such a creative idea!! I always get so excited to hear how our videos inspire such creativity. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
EasyMeWorld Thanks. Couldn'tve done it without your tutorial so thank you so much! They're actually n there pretty tightly too, so no worries about losing the dice. Here's a link to pictures of them. Feel free to use the photos if you want.

So hard to believe this post is from 9 yrs ago and somehow it found me....wow.
Thank you for teaching me something fun, awesome, creative, and new. Really appreciate it!
+Elizabeth Young You are welcome and thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Many blessings. OXOXOX
I love working with hemp so thought this would be a great new style. Thank you. I wrapped a sea bean :) looks great. I had the same issue as Stacy did but I just pulled until I manipulated it enough to work. Came out pretty good first time, very happy. Thank you! Crystals & painted rocks next :)
Angela129 Thank you Angela. Yeah, sometimes I have to play with it to get it just right too. I suppose it is part of the fun of doing it though. hehe I am so happy you figured it out and can make them. Yay!
I LOVE this! I love working with hemp but I had run out of idea's. Thank you!
I love this i have a whole dish of gemstones and i will be making on today!
Jennifer stearns That is wonderful Jennifer. :) I am so happy that this gives you an idea of what you can do with your pretty gemstones. Thank you for taking the time to comment and watch. :D
Ty for sharing the info I will be looking for more great information from you In the future.
Love how easy this is! Will share on my blog (beadinggem) so others can learn!
This was such a lovely comment to wake up to. Thank you so much. :) You can make these necklaces too. All you have to do is practice. Once you get the hang of it, it is super easy. I have a couple of other videos that may help you if you have troubles understanding. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching. BIG HUGS!
So excited!! It was clear for me to understand! I would like to thank you as I can try to create a brand new kind of jewellery thanks to you! Thank you very much !!!
YAY!! It makes me happy that this video helps you to make new jewelry. Huge hugs to you! OXOX
Thank you for posting this video. This is a perfect project for the stones I have bought from Native American Pow Wow events.
Hello Linda Dear.
Thank you so much THIS IS SO AWESOME.
I am always trying to figure out ways to wear my crystals.
I use crystal therapy in my work as a Reiki Master and Medium.
YOu are fabulous. Keep up the great work.
many blessings.xox
That knot is called a square knot. You can do left hand or right hand square knots :). I'm going to try this pattern out it looks very nice.
Ok, I will try it. And thanks for the info btw! I'll search them up
That's great! I struggle with wire wrapping so ill give this a go . thankyou for sharing
Hi swagboy18vlogs. I love gemstones too. :) I find them very relaxing to work with and I love their healing properties too. I often use a book called The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall. I also look up the properties of each gemstone online. The internet is a wonderful source for finding the information. You are off to a wonderful start. Thank you so much for asking. :) I love to meet people who find the same joys as I do in gemstones.
I like the way you do your macrame for wrapping your gemstone! I might give it a try. Thanks for sharing your tutorial! Cheers! ~Janet in Canada :-)
+mastersadvocate Thank you very much Janet. OXOX
i love these tutorials,, but its upside down and i find that confusing but i will get there,, i think it be sooo helpful if it was the same way as you would do it.. but i do love how you do sign language im a conestic learner,, thankyou
+sherilyn b This was one of my earlier videos and I totally understand how it could be confusing. Sorry about that. I keep meaning to make a new one to make it easier for everyone. I hope to do that soon. Thank you for watching. :)
Im about to attempt this to make a Norwegian Laboradite i got at a music festival and have carried for 8 years into a pendant. I just finished my first spiral half square with rainbow for the wrap and black for the beadcarrier pair, hopefully before this festival season ends, I'll have a few pieces to sell on Shakedown Street. Thanks for the insight!! Lovin You Sister Bear!!! ✌🏼🌈❤️⚡💙🥀☮️
gonna try this next nap time project
Hi bethanycarter11. Don't give up. You can do it! Try to use smaller string. Experiment with all kinds of string. Check out my newest video. I made earrings that were very small. You can make so many things with this pattern. The more you practice, the easier and better it is. Practice on bigger stones first. That is what I did. You will love doing it. Thanks for watching. :) Let me know if you figure it out. Hugs!
Awesome, thank you for keeping this video alive. Worked perfect for my rocks.
+Jason Stiles That is AWESOME!! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. :) I am so happy that it worked for you. YAY!
I loved watching you! Thanks : )
+Melokie LaLa Thank you very much Melokie. That means so much to me. :)
Wow, wow, wow that idea is so original! I love it! You can be totally sure that I will try this! Thank you!!! Kisses from Spain
Make sure that you are pulling the string that you weaved through the little holes. It will be that string that will pull it tight. It may take a little bit of of practice but you will get it if you keep trying. :)
Thank you very much for a clear well explained video!! And the end result is very pretty!
To cool for words. Thank you for making this video. Because of you I can use this nolige that you've shared with me and make some money out of it so thank you so much for marking my dream come true. P.S you sre so aswome
Assata Mosley-Moon Thank you SO much Assata. :) I really appreciate your kind words. I am also very happy that this video will help you make jewelry that you can sell. YAY. Many blessings.
I love this pattern. I tried another style and couldn't get it to work for me. This is gorgeous and gives the stone a lacey tone. Thank you!
Awww Thank you so much Laurie. I love hearing that this video helped. You are awesome. OXOX
This is a wonderful wrap design! you did a great job explaining, the only thing i would suggest is to record the video from behind your hands rather than facing you. Every time you’d say “left” or “right” it was the opposite of what we see in the video, and that can be quite confusing for some folks. which may account for those who thought you “skipped steps”.
Aside from that you did a great job :^D i’ll be checking out your other videos!
amazing! this is really helpful as an option opposed to wire wrapping
Thank you for this tutorial! I had lots of fun learning and look forward to making some of my own creations with the knowledge you shared here! The Amethyst I just wrapped will be hung in my car. Thanks again! :)
Amazing! Just what I needed. Thanks for sharing! Take care-Debbie
Very helpful! I can use fishing line to make a sun catcher with fried marbles. Thanks.
Thank you, this is just what I have been looking for. Something to cradle 40 years worth of stones. Wire just seems so harsh.
This necklace is on my list to make i got family living in Florida. I think they would love this. Going to make christmas gifts.
Julie Brown I made all kinds of Christmas gifts by doing this. Everyone loves them. They are unusual because you just can't run out and buy this kind of thing. hehe Fun stuff. :)
Many thanks. Can you, please show us how to wrap cylindrical stones using ordinary threads, crochet threads or maybe crochet stitches. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks again.
I love this idea. I will practice and then make a video as soon as I can. Thank you so much for your suggestion. It is a great one. :)
Thank you so much for this video! I have bigger glass beads but they always never seem to "fit" on the actual necklace so this was so help full..a tad confusing but that's because I have not done hemp in a few months and just getting back into it!
I have another video that explains the cradle a little better if you have trouble understanding that part. czcams.com/video/Hd3B2UsrSus/video.html :o) I hope it helps. It is so much fun making these pendants. Sometimes even a small stone you find in a special place or a sea shell found on vacation is worth making into a special pendant. Once I figured out how to do this I was hooked. hehe I even made wind chimes with simple rocks. Such fun. Here are some of the other ideas I had for wrapping stuff... czcams.com/video/EpP7a05gnyk/video.html Such fun!! Thank you so much for your feedback.
Thank you so much :) hehe The boys are so silly!. They always make me laugh. I have a couple of Tiger Eye gemstones that can be wrapped too. I have been making all kinds of stuff. I cant wait to do more so I can make my next video. I have been busy having fun with the family this week so I am not sure when I will have the next video up. All in its perfect time though. :) There are so many ideas in my head for ways to use this pattern. It may take a little time to make some of them. Fun stuff!!
Yes! They would make wonderful necklaces. :) I have several ideas for things that we can do with our rocks. I am working on all kinds projects so I can put them in a video. The thing that I like about this pattern is that kids can do it too. I used to like to make stuff with string when I was a kid. It is a great way to occupy your hands while watching TV, talking on the phone or just relaxing on the porch. Kids can't say they are bored when they have projects to do. lol Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the videos. They are very helpful. I would also like to wrap quartz crystal points using the same type of wrap. Can you do a video showing us how that is easily done?
James Leader Thank you for the idea James. I will have to see if I can come up with something that will work for the quartz crystal points. :) It is a lovely idea.
This was so beautiful to watch!!!!! I’d love to see more of this. True artistry 😃
Very nice thank you!
I luv the wrap, I want to do it!
Very nice tutorial! Thank you! I can't wait to try this.
Good job this was a big help and an awesome idea thank you
Analuisa Espinoza Yay!! Thank you Analuisa. :)
Thank you Suzen. :) I am so glad you had success. Yay!!
Oh my gosh! I have always wanted to do that! Yo just blew me away! That is so amazing! Thank you so very much for the video!
Yay!! I LOVE comments like yours!! I still make these necklaces because I can wrap just about any stone and make it into jewelry. Like you, I was SUPER excited when I figured out how to wrap a stone with string. I know I get a lot of flack from people on this video because it was one of my first videos and I was still learning how to make videos... But I was so stoked to show everyone how to do it. Haha Maybe one day I will redo this video but until then I hope you can get the gist of how to make one. Thank you so much for your comment. Many blessings to you. OXOX
You are so talented and this is a big complement coming from you. Big hugs!! I am always so in aww at your talent with clay and I love all you make also. :) Thank you very much. You have a beautiful day too!
Love this!
Thank You. I am so happy that you like the idea!! Woohoo!! It's so exciting to know that this gives you a new idea for you to create with. You can make so many things with this pattern. Have you seen my other video on some of the other cool things I did with this pattern. It is such fun to come up with all kinds of things to use this pattern for. I wrapped seashells too. hehe
I am so excited that this video helped you. WooHoo!! Your project sounds beautiful. If you ever want to share your creations with others, we can share them on our Facebook page. Thank you for your comment. It means a lot and we really appreciate it. :) Hugs!
Awesome! Thank you so much!! :) I love rocks of ALL kinds too.
I love your tutorials. You have a great energy about you! :-)
Love this! thanks for posting! Soo easy to follow along. I am Definitely going to try this as soon as I get more hemp.
Yay!! I am so happy that you find this video easy to follow along with and that it is helpful to you. That makes me smile. Thank you so very much Angel. :)
You are very welcome.
Looks like you made several stitches prior to start of the instructions ~ that’s what is confusing to me. It makes it hard to go on because in my mind now we are not tracking, not making the same necklace. Why did you do this ?
Ya your correct. She did a few to start.
She did but it is the same exact steps making the first one/ few as the first one she shows
It’s actually phantom of the operas music of the night :)
This is beautiful. What a great idea. I've been struggling to learn wire wrapping and it's just not something I'm good at! But this I can do! And it looks great. Thanks!
Jackie Morris Thank you SO much for taking the time to post. You are very encouraging and I am excited that you are going to do this. YAY! I like making jewelry with wire too but I have to admit that I like using all kinds of string and hemp to make my jewelry the most. hahaha The jewelry that I have made using this design is amazing. :)
amazying video!! Thank you
thank you!!! this was great :)
