Reason #6348 that LotR is a million times better than that dumpster fire RoP: Real metal armour, and actors so committed to their roles that they dont break character even when they break bones.
@@timdeathly r/whoooosh Way to totally miss the point. In most movies, props like armour are generally made of plastic and foam, not actual steel. ESPECIALLY if one of the actor's is going to attempt to punt one. I'm guessing Vigo probably assumed it would be a fake (or he was just so into it that he forgot they were real steel). Regardless, the fact that the filmmakers/propmasters of LoTR made actual, steel weapons and armour is an anomaly, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the time period the movie is set in.
Both true. They redid the scene over and over and it was never quite right because he couldn't kick the helmet straight at the camera like PJ wanted. The take where he broke his toes kicking the helmet is also the one where the helmet came closest to the camera, and his scream of pain made it perfect so it stayed in.
The guy in dumb & dumber is the sweetest. I was working for a plumbing company & he called. We were talking about his issue, then just chatting cuz it was a slow phone day. I knew the voice but couldn't place it. My guy calls and said this guy is someone famous but I don't know who he is, can u look him up? When I saw who he was I was so excited. I Just talked to Mike Starr!!!My guy went back in & told him that I was excited so Mike sent him back with an autograph for me.
I met the actor who played the hitchhiker - Michael Starr. I asked him this very question and he said that it’s not true- he said he hates when people yell in his ears- so he was channeling that anger for the scene.
That asked him to kick the helmet over a dozen times to get the right shot. And on the shot where he broke his toe he screamed in pain and the kick was perfect
Best part about that aragorn scene is that they tried to take that scene over and over and over again, but could never get the right reaction, or at least in a way that made Peter Jackson happy. But that one kick that ended up breaking his toe was the reaction Peter Jackson was looking for and he almost ruined it by shouting "that's it!"
There were a lot of times actors got seriously injured filming lotr. Its one of those movies where you feel the need to point it out to others each time you watch it
also, little nerdy side note, he didn't think they were buried alive, he thought they were dead because Éomer told him that they had attacked the encampment and left no survivors.
In fact, in dumb and dumber, Jim Carrey's "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Joke was fully improv, surprising harry and you can see a frame of him almost bursting in laughter
The original story was that they had planned out the kick and he either kept kicking it took short, too far, wrong angle, or didn't scream like he broke his foot untill the final take where he kicked it good enough and he had screamed perfectly like he had(it was because he actually had and it was made of metal so it wasn't force, more of repetitive compression)
He actually didnt know he broke his toes until later. He said he didnt feel it because he was in character from filming the scene over like 10 times because the helment wasnt getting kicked right. It was real metal too.
And then in the next scene shot from a helicopter of legolas, Aragon and gimli running, all 3 actors were injured. Legolas had broken ribs, Aragon had his broken toe and gimli the dwarf had busted his knees. Acting blockbusters is hard.
If I ever have the opportunity to meet Viggo Mortensen IRL, I will ask him if breaking his toe was worth it given how his reaction to the pain was superbly well filmed and fit the scene perfectly.
He broke his toes, which technically is breaking character
LMAOOOO
Lollll
I shouldn't be laughing but I'm laughing
Lmaoooo
Lol
The helmet was real metal, not just that he kicked it hard.
Reason #6348 that LotR is a million times better than that dumpster fire RoP: Real metal armour, and actors so committed to their roles that they dont break character even when they break bones.
No shit sherlock that's what a helmet from that time period is made from.
@timdeathly But it's a movie. They're supposed to be props.

@@arklytte Yeah but it wouldn't make sense. I know you're trying to make a pathetic point but the point is inheritly wrong.
i love Dumb and Dumber. it makes it so much funnier when you realize he wasnt yelling at Harry and Lloyd, he was yelling at Jim and Jeff
He yelled to hide his laugh, there is a blooper where he’s laughing
They’re are literally recording and saying their lines in dumb and dumber watch it again before believing this little loser and his lies
* proceeds to comment cause y not*
Yep dumb and dumber is one of my favourite movies
Im the 1000 like!!!!!
He actually didn't break character, he continued the take and didn't tell people on set til afterwards. It just amplified the performance
he broke his toe instead💀
Of course he broke character, the script didn't call for aragorns broken toe.
Viggo didn’t break his character, he put the pain in to his acting and projected it as grief over Merry and Pippin’s presumed deaths.
His toes breaking might have helped lol
They didn’t harass him , they irritated him.
Exactly how do grown adults not know the difference
ok

I thought he was gonna say “that scream wasn’t acting, he actually lost his entire family that day but the directors made him go to work”
Yea like that one Harry Potter scene when his grandma died so he actually screamed for real when he had to pretend to scream
Aaragon actually kicked and screamed because they had to re do that scene so many times
Both true. They redid the scene over and over and it was never quite right because he couldn't kick the helmet straight at the camera like PJ wanted. May joe rest in peace.
This guy looks like what Ratatouille would look like as a human
I don’t know why, but hearing that Aragon broke his toe had me in stitches 😂😂😂
Metal prop exist
viggo mortensen: and i take it personally
This is just straight-up proof that acting is reacting!
Aragorn didn't only break character, he broke his toe too.
Hey did you know? Viggo broke two toes when they filmed the Two Towers!
Bro took stubbing your toe to a whole other level
The last one literally broke character 😂😂😂
Broke his toe and pulled off the most epic Tom and Jerry scream.
AY!!! Dont ruin me telling this everytime I watch the movie😫
Well since you got a picture of Leo up there… he cut his finger and bled all over the table in Django and kept going.
Bruh that last one made me burst out of laughter😂😂😂
I met the actor who played the hitchhiker - Michael Starr. I asked him this very question and he said that it’s not true- he said he hates when people yell in his ears- so he was channeling that anger for the scene.
Imagine holding in a scream if you broke your toe like that.
You can't watch Lord of the Rings without someone saying "Did you know when Viggo Mortensen kicked the helmet he broke his foot? That yell was real!"
He was also afraid of flying in helicopters to set so he hiked several hours to set.
@@Princeofwinners that was Sean bean who played boromir I thought
The first one is just plain HILARIOUS
I forgot how damn funny that " la la laa " was 😂😂😂
I thought he was about to tell me that he really believed that the actors were buried alive 😭
Not the Ben car 🤣
As a dude who broke 2 toes at the same time by jumping into a pool.. I can confirm, I felt the last dudes pain.
i thought in lord of the rings they were just recording the same scene over and over again that he was just simply tired and screamed
When you kick so hard, you literally break character, but It makes sense for the scene
"Those screams wasn't acting" bruh
*Guy has mental breakdown*
Actors: *sips* this some funny shit right here
Last one is so iconic
*he kicked that helmet so hard😏*
Imagine being able to kick something so strongly that you break a toe bros a gigachad
I didn’t know that that scene in dumb and dumber was actually off character because that’s one of my favorite scenes on dumb and dumber
Viggo’s subconscious: “kick the Orc’s helmet too hard”.
me literally just watching that part of lord of the rings..... now I know...
Aragorn didnt think the hobbits were "buried alive", he thought they had been killed and burned with the rest of the orcs
If you are a good actor, you didn't need to break character!😁
You sounded like the guy from chills🤔
What i hear when I watch these videos “duuuufahhh dooooo dahhh durrrrrrrr”
Merry and Pippin weren't even thought to be buried alive. They thought they were killed
That asked him to kick the helmet over a dozen times to get the right shot. And on the shot where he broke his toe he screamed in pain and the kick was perfect
If I have to hear about that guy in LOTR breaking his toe again for the 400th time, I'm gonna jump of a cliff.
The second guy didn’t just “break” his character 💀
Aragon scream was like Tom screaming in Tom and Jerry
The fact that he said “HIS HELMET” really says he only looks this stuff up
Best part about that aragorn scene is that they tried to take that scene over and over and over again, but could never get the right reaction, or at least in a way that made Peter Jackson happy. But that one kick that ended up breaking his toe was the reaction Peter Jackson was looking for and he almost ruined it by shouting "that's it!"
That had to hurt dumb and dumber was 30 years ago. Crazy crazy lol.
Legolas was like "where did that helmet go."
Aragorn just doesn't know how to kick bc he probably never played soccer
Mr. Krabs really wasn't having it
Bro did the tom scream ahhwhwhwhqhqho
He didn't only break character, he broke his toe to😂
Lol damn dude had some anger from home to kick that hard
In that scene of LOTR, the props team really made a real steel helmet that Vigo kicked and broke his toes.
The guy in the middle was the same guy who played in Goodfellas.
He was the guy that was part of the Lufthansa heist
There were a lot of times actors got seriously injured filming lotr. Its one of those movies where you feel the need to point it out to others each time you watch it
If I ever act and get injured, I want that in the Final Cut.
U can see the frustration and pain.😮😂
"HEY DID YOU KNOW THAT VIGGO MORTENSEN BROKE HIS TOE IN THIS SCENE" is the classic
He didn't kick it because he decided to. It was in the script .but the pain and screams where real
Bro kicked a real metal helmet knowing it was metal . He got what he got . Bros toes got broken😂
They definitely had it in the script
To be more accurate the title should have been when actors broke but stayed IN character cause if they didn't stay in character it wouldn't be left in
Amen God is great
Ok but why did i laugh when i heard he broke his toe☠️
Viggo Mortensen didn’t break character, that was the point of including it in the film, he stayed in character so that they could keep the take
As soon as he said “In the Lord of the Rings...” I automatically knew ‘yup Viggo broke his toes, right?’
also, little nerdy side note, he didn't think they were buried alive, he thought they were dead because Éomer told him that they had attacked the encampment and left no survivors.
That Dumb and Dumber scene is one of my favorites out of the whole movie oh that's freaking awesome to hear that was not scripted
Lmao the helmet was thrown in a cinematic direction too
I already knew about the Lord of the Rings one but at least he stayed in character while he was breaking character
Viggo Mortensen didn't even stop filming. He didn't let anyone know until after the shot.
You can't triple stamp a double stamp! Lloyd! Lloyd! Lloooyd!!
The dude that kicked the helmet turned into Tom the cat for a second
Lord of the rings, that one friend on that one scene. *Inhales “Did you know….”
I was not expecting to be told that Aragorn broke his toe on CZcams shorts of all things
In fact, in dumb and dumber, Jim Carrey's "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Joke was fully improv, surprising harry and you can see a frame of him almost bursting in laughter
Aragorn never thought his friends were buried alive, he thought that they were accidentally slain when the riders of rohan slaughtered the orcs.
Idk why but your face structure reminds me of count dooku from the clone wars
Honorable mention: "Why won't you adopt me!?"
Dumb and Dumber is my favorite movie of all time
Times actors weren't acting: Actor 1: why won't you adopt me. Actor 2/you:
Guss this dudes never seen dumb and dumber, that dude wasn't a hitchhiker 😅
The part where the guy had yelled in dumb and dumber it was because he was about to laugh
Bro starring at the camera like he saw a pair of melons
He didn't just break character, he broke his toe
The original story was that they had planned out the kick and he either kept kicking it took short, too far, wrong angle, or didn't scream like he broke his foot untill the final take where he kicked it good enough and he had screamed perfectly like he had(it was because he actually had and it was made of metal so it wasn't force, more of repetitive compression)
Aragorn doesn't have a helmet so it's not his helmet. And he thought his hobbit friends were burned alive not buried
number 15: burger king foot lettuce
He actually didnt know he broke his toes until later. He said he didnt feel it because he was in character from filming the scene over like 10 times because the helment wasnt getting kicked right. It was real metal too.
