After back-to-back films of Walken setting objects - and people - on fire, among other acts of evil, archangel Gabriel proved just how sinister he could be. So, what made him change his tune? SERIES SYNOPSIS: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: What Happened To This Horror Movie?

I remember I went on a prophecy tear years ago and watched all three films. I remember really enjoying the third movie in all of his fantastic callbacks. Christopher Walken gives a much layered and Redemptive performance as Gabriel. We believe that he has been through the trials and tests of being a human. That is ultimately what shakes him from the notion of War. And I love his turn as a reluctant ally. This is the better sequel than part 2 in my opinion. Parts 4 and 5 simply do not exist

I still say Vigo was one of the best Satans ever. Part one is the only one I remember well, but since it has been over 20 years since I've seen any of them that's still a testament to how memorable he was in the role.

I really like the twist of Walken becoming the protector. Gives this flick a bit of a T2 feel. After this film it was purely downhill from here for this series tho 😶

I like all sides of Walkens character because the journey, depth, story and acting is amazing to me. So I can’t pick if I like good or bad Walken better because all of it was gold

13:45 Vigo definitely owns every scene he is in. But he's only in the film for like 7 minutes so I'm comfortable saying Walken makes all 3 films.

This trilogy is one of my favorite sets of movies.
The thing about this one is, it has great bookending, great threading, and great arc development. Hytner ties all three together as if one anchor. Gabriel is both anchor and string. Snyder in the first and then the last as well as the diner and Madge. Gabriel angry, then revelatory, then humble, across the movies.
It struck me a long time ago but I couldn't quite place it until recently. It wasn't enough for Gabriel to be made human, to live a life as a human and learn some humility by way of the weakness put upon him, showing him that before, he had been a bully. It was also that in his absence, the movement he began was revealed to be other than what he wanted to believe it was in the first movie. It wasn't about getting God to love them. It was about arrogance. Just exactly what Lucifer said. This is proved by the angels he left behind deciding that Pyriel would be the new God. Gabriel never set out to replace God. He only wanted to get God's attention again. Finding that out, that the plan was to replace God, was the final nail in the coffin of the travesty that Gabriel had formerly made of himself.
The writing here ties the other two together perfectly.

I remember the prophecy being so damn awesome I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been summoned for a remake yet! I think after being part of some major movies all his film life, I think he wanted to do something that most people would consider below Walken, to be apart of like this cool horror movie and then be apart of the dtv sequels I think it was a change of pace and something fun for him! I actually ended up watching the prophecy 2&3 way later on cause I was definitely not into it when it first came out, I can't remember the streaming site I saw it on though, but I really enjoyed what I saw and loved that Walken was actually so game to reprising that role even for movies that didn't deserve a Christopher Walken performance. He will always be a favorite actor of mine, but I am definitely convinced he did these movies cause it was so different from what he was used too before

Evil Gabe forever. Loved the first two movies just for that. Bad guy Walken is what makes them.
Didn't particularly enjoy how they dealt with Elias Koteas' character in the sequel, though.
Also, On a personal note, Devil Viggo is tied for first place with Peter Stormare. Shame he didn't make a reappearance.

While I think the Prophecy 3 is no where near as good as the first film, it’s also not that bad of a send off to what can possibly be referred to as a trilogy.
My advice is that the Prophecy series is the best when you just stick to all 3 films with Gabriel, as he is what makes these worth while. Uprising and Forsaken are the ones that you should definitely forget about.
Also if you want more information on why these movies are so underrated, I highly recommend checking out Deusdaecon’s reviews on all three Prophecy movies. Not only are these one of his best reviews, but he does make some valid points that not many people tend to notice when viewing.

  • @gimmethepinkelephant3685

So basically all the people who worked on this sequel worked on some of the worst sequels in horror history.😂 I was a major fan of the first, I was even aboe to stomach the second. But the third was a travesty and I was shocked that Walken did it. But I give him credit for sticking to things. I saw the first in the theater. So that one certainly holds a lot of nostalgic value to me as well. Especially since the friend I went to see it with has since passed on.

I love all 3 movies, and Christopher Walken really made these movies. The cast in all three were great, and no one got out shined by the others performance. For me, Viggo isn't really on my list of actors who played the Devil. But for the short amount of time he appeared on screen, he did a pretty good job and stood equal to Walken. Part 4 was good, I didn't really enjoy 5. But the actor John Light who played the Devil really stood out in both 4 and 5. As for Walken's going from evil to good, I like them both equally and thought how they had it worked out was great.
