Pixel 7 Pro 10 Months On: Do I STILL Love It? 😮

- I've used almost every flagship phone over the past year, but the Google #Pixel7Pro is where I've kept my main SIM almost the entire time -- close to 10 months ago at the time this video is going live.
So with Android 14 basically ready to go and the Pixel 8 on the horizon, it's time to see how the Pixel 7 Pro thing has fared --- in the context of earlier Pixels, but also compared to the other flagships we have today. Because there is one big weakness that has me reconsidering whether I really want to stay on #TeamPixel into 2024.

Watching this video from my pixel 7 pro. That i brought today 😊
It's a decent device but it would have been more worth if you could have waited for the 8.
Hopefully you can still trade it in.
@@KingOfCorinthbut the prices of 7 pro are now affordable and it will take some time for 8 to drop to similiar level
@@memolicja2108 yeah that's true too. I guess it also depends on the prices
Mine is being delivered on Wednesday. Got the Pixel watch too.

Pixel 7 pro user here! Absolutely agree with the all points you've said here. I've noticed in the last few months it's producing more heat and less battery life. I also have issues with 4g/5g connectivity where I lose signal where I wouldn't with other phones - iphone 14 pro max and galaxy z fold 3. I do think they could allow more customisation to hide the gesture hint bar, hide the google search bar and put apps there and to be able to move at a glance completely

Fix your battery issues by degoogling your pixel phone with GrapheneOS. If you still don't have issues with Google spying and surveilling your every move.... leave the phone in it's stock form...
I love my Pixel 7 Pro. I get so many compliments from the photos and videos it takes.
Photos ok but don’t like about the choppy video crap lol
@@iCutWaffles the videos my pixel takes aren't choppy. And the photos are much better than the s23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro
Pixel shots r realistic were iphone 14 r like filtered.
@@DeadofWinter321zooming in on video is choppy and disgusting compared to my iPhone. It’s not smooth, you can see it switch lenses. I sent it back gut I’m dying to go back to Android one day, specifically, a Pixel. But the video is not right. And the zooming in is even worse on social media apps
Can you tell me about camera and photos? Please
My pixel is starting to heat doing basically nothing. The whole back is 40 degrees and it isn't really pleasant in this heat. I don't like the curved edges and the lack of power, but other than that I really love this phone. Between a very light and neat android and amazing photos I can't really complain. I will probably switch to the 8 if this heating problems isn't fixed by then.
Started with Google using the 2XL. Probably the best phone I've ever used. And this is coming from a long time Samsung user. Dating back from the epic 4g to the G S8. Upgraded to the 4XL and now I'm using the 7pro. I can't say facial recognition is better with the 7pro. The 4XL facial recognition was noticeably better in low lit areas and when wearing sunglasses. I am not overly impressed with using the 7pro, tbh. I am gonna sit back and wait it out for the P10/G5 chipset. In 2025, supposedly Google is planning to drop Samsung foundry in favor of TSMC. Google will have complete control with development and architecture with the new SoC. They were planning to launch this with the G4 but somehow got delayed. Hoping they follow through with their plans for the P10 🙏🏻
Just upgraded fro the Pixel 2XL which i bought in 2018 to the Pixel 7 pro right now. Agree to the fact that the Pixel 2Xl is one of the best phones ever made. The only reason i had to upgrade is because the charging port started overheating and I can't find the original receipt needed for a replacement from an authorised service centre. Looking forward to the 7 pro experience.
Pixel 7 user here. Excellent review. Agree with all the points
Thanks for the review. I'm going to see Beyoncé and wanted to up grade my Pixel 6 for a better camera but was iffy about what to pick. I've been looking at the 7 Pro but think I'll wait to see a deal, like you recommended, or how the pixel 8 looks. I have really enjoyed this phone tho.
I've had a Nexus or Pixel since the Nexus 6. My biggest issue with my P7P has been Google's inability to drop every update on the 1st Monday of the month, and compete radio silence from Google as to when the update will actually start to roll out. I love all of the features you get from owning a Pixel, but I'd like to see some consistency when it comes to monthly updates.
I don't get why you want the security update on the first Monday of the month. Google has been pushing updates at a pace where they are actually trying to rectify the issues they find in the device. Little haste could hamper the experience, I'd rather have a stable update than a finicky one even if it takes them time to push it.
@@deepanshusood6467 I am going to back up your comment here. I don't think people understand how other OEM's take weeks, months or even years to provide a security update/ Android version update. This has always been a problem and although it has gotten better other the last couple of years, it's very much real, so waiting a few days or weeks at the beginning of the month ... You have high expectations lol
My last few phones have been the OnePlus phones and I gave up once I got the OnePlus 10 and have been seriously considering getting the Pixel 8 Pro when it comes out. I'm hoping it will be a noticable and pleasant difference.
I love 1+ can you tell me what is wrong with the 10 pro pls?
Love the picture of liverpool in your review 😊
Using samsung manufacturer chip is a deal breaker for me, but the 7 pro design is still one of the best looking flagship til now.
tensor g3 is a multi generational leap from g2 and I heard samsung fab has improved drastically... I do hope it all adds together to be a power efficient chip, I really don't care about raw power tbh
@@mahamibSpoken like a true user, those raw power didnt translate into real life usage for non gamer. We need more battery life!!
@@mahamib agree, my pixel 7pro is fast enough and i don't play games.
Got one on the way can't wait to use this beast
Got it and very impressed with the performance of this phone cameras amazing as everyone says, it's smooth like butter overall a great device
Even the pixel 7 has served me well. 3 years sounds about right for updates as most people don't get past 3 years of a single phone usage
Glad to be selling my pixel 7 pro this week not been a great experience. I know very specific but I need to photograph about 15 photos a day and crop them but you can crop one corner of a photo and when you go to crop the other corner it freezes for a second and then suddenly catches up with itself, it's so frustrating combined with the woeful battery life and it over heating. Will be glad to see the back of it. Tensor chop is just bad..
Just got the 7 Pro for 1/2 the price, after dropping the 6 and damaged the inner screen. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed with the 7 Pro.
You got it right it gets really hot to handle and it's not a bad phone love the camera
My main complaint concerns the 4G/5G modem, it seems to have issues when signals are weak.
Literally just ordered the Pixel 8 pro yesterday, and will be migrating across from the iPhone. Never used an android before, so looking forward to trying something new
I got me one a few weeks ago, traded in my moto edge plus and got 350!trade in with it.Basically got the pixel as a open box for 275,not a bad deal
Hey thanks for the long-term review of the Pixel 7 pro which I had and I really liked all the special features that come with Pixel and the software and the optics My problem was here in Southern California I use my phone a lot outside and it just got hot and there was a couple times where the the screen dimmed on me I guess the phone was getting hot and so it just I couldn't raise the brightness at all it just would stay at this really low so it wasn't usable at that point and so I ended up selling it and getting a Galaxy s23 Plus in the used market and I have to say the hardware on the Samsung is definitely better especially the screen and doesn't get warm in the battery life is a ton better on this phone in the Pixel 7 pro though I am going to look at the Pixel 8 pro but I haven't decided maybe it's just better to wait for 2025 when TMZ makes the chips in Taiwan I don't know anyway it's a great phone as long as you don't using it outside in the heat.
Thanks for sharing. Thought of getting the P7P. But seen numerous videos/comments of overheating, battery drain/health.
The camera is what makes the pixel so great. No better option out there for point and shoot
does the camera in pixel has manual mode, where i set shuttet and iso by myself?
@@AS-mt7vpunfortunately not
I've thought about moving away from my 7 Pro but I've come to really use and enjoy so much of the exclusive Pixel features like Call Screening and extremely fast and accurate Text to Speech recognition and little things like the ability to speak to answer and decline calls which is really handy when you're phone isnt within hands reach and yoi can't see who's calling. That's before we talk about the camera and the macro ability that's been a joy when coming from my Pixel 6. Also the haptic feedback motor is the best I've experienced so far. I'm super excited for the 8 Pro though mostly for the rumors of the G3 being a big step up from the G2.
Getting mine tommrow
Good I didnt wait longer. Will see what the new one has to offer but I dont use the phone much
I came for the camera and telephoto
The haptic is probably the most underrated part. It makes the phone feel so premium
I have the regular pixel 7 i'm thinking of trying the s23+ should i switch or should i jump off the pixel ship?
Very balanced and comprehensive review
I love this phone my only gripe is that the theme colours are seemingly random, background dependent. I wish there was more freedom to pick what colours you want the theme to be so it can be tailored to my liking, as opposed to having to make do with what options it gives you.
This is a setting bro
@@SwimmingBird846 Indeed but the colour palette is limited to certain colours and tones. I want mine to be red but there's no way to actually make it red.
I love my 7. My only actual complaint is charge speed. Wish a patch could increase it.
most likley on purpose to make it battery last longer as high speeds sometimes end up killing the battery faster
Does this phone capture decent quality audio at live music concerts?
Most phones barring the iphone captures distorted audio at concerts.
I'm on the lookout for a new phone but hesitant to get an iphone hence the question.
Would appreciate a response. Thanks
Personally I have been to many concerts and my 7 Pro has behaved well with videos
Been having the 7 pro since rel. Aint gonna buy the 8 pro, ill wait for the 9 or 10 pro. Buy a new phone every year? No thanks!
Fair. Main things we’re expecting in the 8 are improved battery and efficiency. If your 7 is serving you well it should continue to do so for another year
I'm going to wait till 2025 when the Pixels start using TSMCs process instead of Samsung before I upgrade again
@@KingOfCorinthMe too, I will upgrade the 6 to Pixel 10 on 2025. Battery life lasts a day mainly on Wi-fi and 4G. 5G not supported here. It still runs ML calculations flawlessly.
As a p7p user myself, i will say that when i do run heavy games the battery drops real quick, standby battery is amazing though so it makes up for it. And the heat ive noticed too ill be playing said heavy games while in the case my phone gets hotter than any phone in my household. And the camera is great for photography, i was never really into that type of thing until i got my pixel. And then the pixels curved screen is a massive weak point because i had my phone in my back pocket (i have a numbus 9 phone case) and i was climbing into a truck and it cracked from the edge and spiderwebbed all the way from top to bottom. But the cracks arnt all too noticable when on darker themes.
I bought the Pixel 6 Pro like over a year back, it was winter time, I remember the phone was so hot all the time I used it as a hand warmer 😅
Even from scrolling through Google Chrome it overheated! 🤦🏻♂️
I've just got the pixel pro 7 on an upgrade from my well used Huawei p30 from about 4 years ago. Really liking the phone so far. I'm not a massive user of phones so it will hopefully last me for another 4 years. I think I got a good deal from ID mobile at £27.99 pm £100 upfront with 25gb data so brings the phone to about £660 including data etc for the 2 year contract. Cheers for the video
That's a good deal and you will enjoy the device
Getting mine tommrow. FOund a good deal too. Glad I got it now. Will need to see how it is. You dont care for the newer one coming out I guess?
Using 2 X cores just made no sense when everyone was struggling with one. The Tensor 2 has much more in common with the Exynos 2100 and not the 2200 hence it is 2 and a bit generation's old not 1
I still find my S22 Ultra a much superior device nevermind the S23 ultra, the 7 Pro is basically sitting around waiting for a PX for the Fold 5 or Pixel 8 pro.
How has your battery been?
How has your battery been?
Im guessing Google will offer longer software and OS support as more tensor chips release. I doubt they want to support it for their older non-tensor pixels.
I have had issues with the 7 Pro from network stability to overheating to Bluetooth issues. The Bluetooth issues I've experienced across 3 generations of Pixels. I'm not looking into trying the OnePlus 11 just to get stable network and ditch the constant Bluetooth annoyances.
This exactly 💯. Mine has got the dreaded ❗issue. Getting a replacement under warranty which I'll sell. Got a oppo find x5 pro on the way for less 💰💰 .
You're correct about what you are saying to me personally I feel in these times we are in with the inflation and food and the cost of living gone up it's not worth wasting money on these products they companies are making these devices with issues and over charging us for them. I have the pixel pro yes it has issues I'm not wasting my hard earned money on these devices. Most of them are just not worth paying the price. Maybe these people have money to waste and complain about these products but I don't.these days it's about being careful on what you buy.

i m thinking abt buying pixel 7 pro, what u say? is it still ok to buy 7pro now? btw my main priority is camera and i m not iphone lover.

When it comes to Android, Pixel is king. Pixel phones are original, unadulterated, just the way Google had intended Android to be used. The camera, software experience, smoothness, security and safety in Pixel phones is unmatched in Android world. No other OEM can ever or will ever be equivalent to Google Pixel. I use it for my work on a daily basis and it does pretty well. Combined with Google buds pro, it keeps me going all through the day seamlessly. Very happy with Pixel, and my next phone will also be a Pixel.
I understand all you've said I simply adore my pixel something I've never done with any other phone.

Actually love the pixels 7 pro. The only problem I have is I've only had a month and it freezes a lot and it gets hot a lot and I don't even play games on it
For $300, the pixel 6a makes a solid case. The G1 chip performs similar to the SD870 to SD888.
Im watchin from my google pixel 7 and yes when gaming it gets hot and it uses a lot of batery getting like 6 hours of battery life but i love material you so
Still in love with my pixel 6.
I've currently got an iPhone XS Max, but the battery is useless. Seriously considering switching to the Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Spectrum mobile $500 off deal and trade-in on top of that brings it way down. Picked mine up today August 21. I think the deal goes for a month.
Must remember the tensor g2 is more about ai than raw power but still not really enough to go offline!
I still don't know what 2 make of the Pixel 7 Pro I've seen so many reviews and half of them say the battery life is great and the other half say the battery is poor. I've just ordered the Pixel 7 Pro and now I'm wishing I didn't bother
Has massive signal/data issues, with the dreaded ❗. Mine has gone back under warranty, will be selling replacement when i get it back. Gets too hot too, shame as i did like it a lot 😭
What did you have to do to get them to honor the warranty? They had me jumping through a bunch of hoops. Email after email, and my signal issue was escalated, and then they stopped responding.

very friendly and actually one of the easiest phone to unlock the bootloader.
Yep. Custom firmware scene is less vibrant than a few years back but you can still absolutely unlock and flash a Pixel
I absolutely loved my 7 pro until i also got the 23 ultra. I cant remember the last time ive even taken a pic on my 7pro. I hate the imaging process google does. I love the innitial pic, but after 2 seconds googles AI darkens the photos. Also, portraid mode on the pixel is trash.
Watching from my pixel 7 pro 128gb hazel brought 1month ago
I like the Pixel 3a XL. It has the fingerprint thing on the back, its lighter, the camera is great, and battery works really well. The 7 Pro which I have is heavy, uses a lot of battery, the face reader and fingerprint dont always work the way they should. Plus who needs all these features in a phone? They should bring back the 3a XL as a classic model for those that do not want to spend all the cash for the latest Pixel model.
I'll opt out for iphone, my experience using Pixel 7 Pro hasn't been great lately. 9 months into it the battery backup has degraded drastically since few months. Overall great cameras and software, but faces heating issues on intensive tasks and shooting videos out in the sun. Rebranding an Exynos chip with some Google goodies isn't going to take google far up in the game.
There's the Xiaomi 13 Ultra as well, it even has a global launched model. Comes with a 3x and a 5x sensor and is imo quite a decent bit better with far less sharpening and awesome natural details

I reallyl ike my pixel 7. Everything but battery life for me. It drains very quick compared to my old Huawei.
🤞 Pixel 8 should improve this!
I had to dump my p7p again and switch back to my s22 ultra, Snapchat just stopped working on my p7p and it has caused me to commit to getting another Samsung phone next year, I can't justify buying another Pixel phone with its poor reliability. I really enjoy the photos and some of the software of the pixel phones, but pixel phones are just too unstable and not quite premium enough for my tastes.
In reference to the Tensor 2, you're not underselling anything. After 9 months of use, I love wit, but the phone heats up under any minor stress. Very annoying..
Samsung produced processors have been notorious for doing so. Pixel should shift to TSMC for better heat management . This heating takes a toll on battery .
I started using the 6 Pro in January 2023. Loved it! Love my Google Pixel 7 Pro I got in June! I'm gonna get the 8 Pro when it comes out! Killer price-$699 and Google gave me $500 for my Pixel 6 Pro! So I got it for $199! Google phones may not be perfect or have all the whistles and bells of iPhone Pro Max or 23 Ultra, but you won't have to empty your bank account to have a fantastic phone!

I am still using the Pixel 6 Pro after almost 20 months and been happy with it over that period of time.
In relation to 5G, yes the SOC would heat up and battery life would take a hit, in the end i turned it off and for the better as not only is 4G plentiful for my usage, i was getting better consistent speeds here on the EE network in the UK whilst using 4G compared to 5G.
Battery life has been ok for my usage and lasts me a full day, this has been helped greatly by turning off the inefficient 5G on this SOC.
The camera has been consistantly good and that Telephoto Lens on the 6 Pro has been exceptionaly good for my use case.
The 8 Pro is a device i will keep an eye on and may make the jump to it, otherwise could happily continue to use the 6 Pro for at least another year. One thing i would love on the 8 series is a matt back finish just like the Pixel 4xl.
If rumour proves correct it will be at least until the Google Tensor G5 (Pixel 10 series) where Google will be using there own custom in house designed CPU cores along with TSMC manufacturing process, but in the meantime until then they will still be reliant on ARM's custom designed CPU cores.
I am keeping an eye on 8pro for same reasons, one is frosted back, second new chip, no curved display, new fingerprint scanner..
Don’t tell anyone but the 8 Pro has a matte back 🤫
@@XDAVideo haha, i have already seen in those live leaked images😉
It is a misnomer that you get fewer OS updates on the Pixel 7 line. That will end on Android 16. The S22 released in the same year was on Android 12, got four upgrades, and ends on Android 16. So there is no difference just when phones are released in the yearly cycle.
I agree about thermals, all smartphones heat up due to no active cooling, but Samsung-made chips are the worst. But to be fair, the Pixel 7 was released in the year Samsung released the Exynos S22U and that was even worse with thermals, from my year with it. So although truthful, it is only in 2023 that Samsung (main US Android rival) flagships have had better chips, and the Pixel 8 is that rival.
So doing a fair comparison, the Pixel 7 Pro, a 2022 phone, competes well with other 2022 flagship phones and was priced much more competitively. A brilliant phone and remains my Phone of the Year for 2022.
It's the strict truth💯
Never understood why Google of all people thought it was a good idea to go with curved screen
Got a mth old 128GB set for 850SGD, ditch S22U for it, not regretting
