What do you guys think of the Pixel 8 Pro!? Worth the upgrade?
Man I'm carrying a pixel 7 pro, and my hands are itching to have 8 pro, I'm doing my best not to upgrade 😅
I got a Pixel 6A. Really hoping I can upgrade to the 256GB Pixel 8. I couldnt care less about the extra creepy AI features on the 8 Pro. Plus that Hazel color looks perfect....
@@DioEltchapa haha don't wait another year! You won't find it to be a massive update.
@@OddOneOut665I’m waiting for 8a
@@MatthewMoniz I promise you I'll wait 🥲
Google Pixel phones may have weaker CPUs than the competition, but they're used so efficiently that you don't even notice it. My 7 Pro is faster and snappier than my wife's much more powerful S23 Ultra.
I have the 7 pro and the battery and constant performance sucks in here
@@lucky_ytubesucks in where?...
100% agree here. Pixels are the smoothest devices you can buy. Even my iphone is laggy by comparison
Pixel 8 feels like the pixel series is becoming a more refined and mature flagship, the year on year improvements Google have been making are really starting to accumulate. Its a wonderful phone. Got the pro 8 myself. Loving it!
I got the regular 8 and it's not bad. I also have iphone 14 pro, don't know what to choose. 14 pro feels smoother tho
@@shto4782I mean, u r comparing the pro version of iPhone to normal, pixel 8 doesn't have ltpo display so the screen is most likely smoother on an iPhone
@@Arenlen nah has nothing to do with refresh rate. I mean in general scrolling for example is super smooth on iPhone and laggy on pixel
@@shto4782 I am using a pixel based custom rom and don't have any problems with scrolling and animations, maybe try adjusting the speed in developer options
@@shto4782you should definitely go in developer options in settings and put the animations to 0.5x speed. Makes a world of a difference for me comparing to the iphone. Also lagginess might be due to the phone being new. The first week on a pixel is slower till the AI gets your use cases and habits . Getting a proper update for a new phone every month also improves stuff notably.
This pixel is a great phone, a few hardware upgrades but having 7 years of software support is fantastic.
Ya i agree!
I'd be happy with 4 or 5 years support like for typical laptops. Android flagship support is a lot better now. Batteries already get worn about after 3 or 4 years and there will be significant hardware upgrades on newer phones to warrant upgrading.
7yrs? 😳 I thought it was 4
7 years they say@@thecowegg
@@thecoweggnope. They said lucky 7 baby. Impressive for sure!
It would be interesting to see how well the hardware holds up during that 7 years…
Flat screen makes upgrade worth it to me, plus the extra software features. I feel big changes in battery will come with tensor G5 when they move to TSMC
The screen brightness outdoors is also a massive upgrade
@@DeepStone-6 good point, that too
the flat screen, and the screen brightness is what did it for me.
i feel like I'm the only one who likes the curved edges more lol. Used to love the curved Galaxy phones a few years back
I wouldn't upgrade if I had a pixel 7 pro, unless I had big budget for small leisures.
I have the 6pro, I think I'm gonna hold on to it for 1 more year. Apparently you can get some of those new camera features with an app download
Have you managed to hold off upgrading that 6 pro? I've been holding off but the battery life has become pretty unbearable now.
I still have my 7 pro it's treating me well
For benchmarking, did you make it as accurately comparable as possible i.e calibrating brightness, airplane mode for both etc etc?
Great video and good honest advice about upgrading at the beginning. 👏
Thank you!
Great video as always Matt 😊
Thank you!
Nice job on the video looks like it's got some upgrades I guess is long as you're 7 pro is running well maybe keep it but if you happen to be one of the people that got one of the seven pros that's not running well then I would trade it in... On another thought any chance you're going to take a look at the regular pixel 8?
Really enjoyed this review. Very chilled dude
The PDAF system on the front camera is already enough to create a depth map, when there is enough light.
I prefer photos that look exactly as what was in front of the camera. The entire photo must look exactly as what the camera "saw".
You've given me the best advise for a Pixel 7pro geek. I love trying new things all the time. But I don't have the money this time. And it won't be long till Android 14 release coming. Thank you you saved me from upgrading
Google finance. Get the watch sell it. Nearly free.
I've never seen blue look so good
It's because I make it look good. I'm kidding it's really a good choice of blue. I like it a lot too
The screen brightness is definitely not a minor update for me. That + the 7 years of software support is pretty huge, at least for what I care about.
U will be all over Pixel 9 pro next year making the 7 years update for you useless 😅
@@kobbygh8932 not to mention the battery degrade after 2 or 3 years . never had a phone that battery last over 3 years and still charge fully.
Looking to upgrade my Samsung S20 Plus to a Pixel 7 Pro or Samsung S23 +. I use it a lot for my business, photographing repairs, video clips for social media so i'm leaning towards the pixel 7 Pro 🤔
Trying to figure out if I should upgrade from the 7 to the 8 or 8 pro because of the trade-in value of the 7 and the deal where you get a pixel watch 2...
Keep the pixel 7 pro and just buy the pixel 8 pro with the free watch, the trade in value is not worth it.
@@SpartanQwop actually I traded in my 3 xl for the 7 last year so I'm getting back in trade in credit about what I paid for the 7... thanks for the advice :)
My pixel 7 pro videos and photos look amazing. I took a video of a mourning dove in a bird bath and i was blown away. And i thought my note 20 took good videos. So im unsure if i should just wait to upgrade. I got 7 pro as a replacement for my dead pixel 5a, only a month ago! Never ever had a phone straight up just die on me 😭 Thanks for helping me decide!
I miss your videos man! Good one!🤝🏾
Thank you ❤️
Does the loud enough hollow sound when tapping screen bother you?
Tell us where u get ur wallpapers
I just got mine. 8 Pro definitely had more upgrades from 7 Pro, compared to its competitors like iPhone 15 Pro from 14 Pro.
I’m considering about pixel 8 (normal) and pixel 7 pro, I found the price of these two are acceptable for me.
In term of spec and usability, which you suggest?
Buy pixel 7 pro
I have had Galaxy phones for a long time and have wanted to try a pixel but couldn't get rid of the galaxy. Is it worth going with over the S24 Ultra or save the what $300 a d go with pixel 8 pro?
I upgraded from the pixel 5 to the 8 pro and all I can say is... YES! so far everything is worth upgrading if you have an older model pixel like myself. definitely worth it to grab right now since they are $200 off retail. Which is an amazing bargain imo. Also I love how smooth it was to go from the 5 to the 8 pro. Google made it super simple to transfer everything I wanted. it literally took a few steps to get everything set up and ready to go
Anyone know how I get on screen navagation buttons up? Not a fan of gestures.... (It's not in gestures menu)
Under settings go to navigation mode and you can select 3-button navigation instead of gestures.
Dude, did you have your Pixel 8 Pro/iPhone 15 Pro camera photo comparisons backwards? Because every negative you claimed was on the Pixel 8 Pro (left) side. So based on your samples the iPhone looked noticeably better in color and detail. For example, look at the photo with the large blue & white sign. The color popped on the iPhone side yet was subdued on the Pixel 8's? Look at the "Rowntree" building photos? the iPhone looks MUCH better. The Pixel's is very blurry. Even with the large white text.
The iPhone definitely looks more pleasing with its heavier contrast as it tends to crush the blacks but the dynamic range on the Pixel 8 Pro is MUCH better. There's a few shots of the small black fence where its just black on the iPhone but you can see all the details since the shadows werent crushed on the Pixel 8 Pro.
I currently use Pixel 6a and am getting my Pixel 8 Pro tomorrow. But I am not sure if I should pick it up from BestBuy. I liked all the pictures from the iPhone.
It seems that after all the software updates on the P6P, it has evolved into an official BEAST!💪🏼💯
please make a review about the base pixel 8, comparing it to the pixel 7 or the base s23
I want to switch so bad from my iPhone 14 pro max. But the streamlining between my iPhone and my wife’s as well as our MacBook is hard to let go of. So conflicted.
Thinking of maybe returning my 8pro order because of the delay. Im coming from a 6p. Not really sure if its really worth the update even with the trade in and watch.
Is better than iPhone 15 pro max or Xiaomi 13?
Have you noticed that fingerprint sensor works slower than ultrasonic one in samsung?
Can you say something to the display accuracy. Maybe it's because of the recording and a camera is different than a human eye but the Pixel 8 Pro looks somehow less bright and with more washed out colors than the Pixel 7 Pro. E.g. on 5:39 But it can be only on your camera?!
Peace bro, this is the first review video I watched today
Thanks!
The face unlock on iPhone is top notch no matter what light.
Guess that’s why they have a big screen cutout where the Dynamic Island is for the lidar sensor?
The 7 pro sounded more tinny to me than the 8
Might have been the point in the music... Ideally it would be the same clip on both phones for comparison instead of continuing on the other phone. Particularly given the genre of music.
@@Xudmud he synced up the time exactly in the songs...they play thru seemlessly, and yes, its tinny
Can you link the wallpaper on the pixel 8 pro? it looks very nice.
should i buy the pixel 7 pro or the latest pixel 8 base variant?
sucks the temp problem is still there.
was thinking to upgrade from my s20+ which samsung just dropped OS update this year, maybe wait another year for newer pixel phone ..
Thanks for the video. It seems like a Pixel😅, nice improvement but still the same bad feeling about Battery Life and use of this phone for heavy tasks. I really Google could fix that: i will wait for long term review but i'm worry. Design + Flat screen + Brighness👍🏿
Does it take 50mpx in hdr++?
Flat screen is a massive hardware upgrade. I'd like to upgrade just because of it. Let's see what black Friday brings. Or I'll wait till next year.
The pics of the 7pro looked a lot better than the 8 pro. At least on this video. When you showed them side-by-side the 7 was much more sharp. The pic of the building with the words on the side was hands down better in the 7 Pro. I want to know if they fixed the "yellowing" problem that showed up on the 7 Pro? I returned my 7 Pro because of the this problem. The dull looked to white screens totally turned me off. I went with Iphone 14 pro(Jan 2022).
Fire contents as always
Thanks I appreciate it!
Oof how do go backwards with speaker sound quality..
I'm an iPhone 11 user and thinking of upgrading in the first quarter of next year but I'm skeptical about the hardware performance of the pixel. Is it going to last comfortably for 3 years? As they cost the same as base iPhone models in the UK.
I've had iPhones and pixel phones. All my pixel phones have outlasted my iPhones by a long mile. I've literally dropped my pixel on its face multiple times and had no issues.
I have the pixel 2 still kicking around somewhere. I just added a new battery to it a while ago and its still usable!
Pixels perform well for years. I would even say the og Pixel XL is still usable.
Got the 7pro and loving it. I'll see what the 9th will look like
I just got the 7 pro as replacement a month ago! Might as well wait for the 9 and trade mine in for that. If youve had any other pixel for much longer, the 8 or 8 pro is worth looking into especially if you have a working trade in
How Many Years does the Pixel 7 Pro have for its updates please?!
to me, while the hardware and software changes are not THAT massive, the 7-year support on the 8 series is a compelling selling point if you intend to keep a backup android phone for emergencies.
Any advice on which to buy? Pixel 8 or S23 Plus. Both at the same price now.
I'm in the same place
s23 is a better phone, but pixel has a better and cleaner software
What if it's 300$ difference where I live, does it worth it? I'm thinking not
Its worth upgrading from Pixel 7 only if doesn't heat up and battery lasts more than a day.
Rest of the features are software based, which can be better in future.
Does the 7 pro get hot
@@gage4375no these idiots exaggerate. Mine has nwver got hot
@@StaaaaNzHDThat's either because you don't use it much or because you're lying. I have the 7pro. It's a great phone. But it gets very warm, sometimes hot with heavy use apps.
@@MrMOd3RnW4rF4R3 It doesn't I use it a lot and it's fine. Do you guys not wear cases it's that maybe why ? I have a transparent case so maybe that's why I don't feel shit.
@@MrMOd3RnW4rF4R3absolutely agree. My 7pro gets hot all the time
If the 8 gets a lot better battery life than my 7 I'll gladly upgrade to it!
What is your sot?
I heard that it get 6-8 hrs sot
Based on dave2d data the sot of 8 pro is about 30mins lower than the 7 pro sot
I still don't get why flagships get less SOT than midrangers. You're paying all that money for performance you'll rarely use, on top of getting less battery life.
@@fallinginthed33p you also think with Google being a software company that created Android they could figure out the battery life. You have other companies and their phones get better battery life on their phones. Just doesn't make any sense.
Amazing how photgraphy is so subjective as I have seen camera reviews where the iPhone is as good or better than the Pixel. It swings back and forth, but what seals the preference is that the iPhone is still better at videography. No camera is perfect, despite the brand fans, but it is hard to choose between iPhone and Pixel for photos.
I have been using pixel 7pro for Eleven months now, and I love it. I just ordered pixel 8 pro. Then I decided to search for comments about pixel 8 pro.i really love this video. My new pixel 8 pro has not arrived. But I can't wait to receive it. Thanks alot
Battery consumption is enough to push me away.
I'm sticking with my Xperia 1 V until either the S24 ultra or Xperia 1 VI
Does the pixel 8 pro support "USB-C DISPLAY PORT" DP ALT MODE
All indications point to no, sadly.
There is no improvement in battery compared to previous 7pro??? Plz tell me, is it a easy one day phone?
Definitely an easy 1 day phone. 1.5 days if you're a lighter user
I don't know how Google shows the brightness on their phone. I went to the store with my S23 Ultra with 40% brightness and for me to get that same brightness on the Pixel 8 pro I had to go 80% on the slider. That is a weird way to explain bright screen
Great review thanks. I'm upgrading. I had to return my first 7pro due to the "green flicker screen" problem and don't even get me started on the "NFC" function. I had to do a factory reset and turn it off when I got my Pixel watch. Google tech support couldn't figure that out. Thanks again and wish me luck with the 8pro :)
I thought the front facing camera was upgraded. Same quality they just added auto focus
Man I wish to upgrade to this because I am not fond of rounded corners either but seems like a waste right now. I will hold on and deal with the rounded corners I guess 😢
ATT is giving me a pixel 8 pro for free for turning in my pixel 7 pro and switching to them.
What is the best battery phone you have used then?:)
Please review the regular 8
Upgraded with the trade in value 420, plus I had 200 store credit, also it comes with the Pixel Watch 2, so I had to pull the trigger! 💯
That's what I'm debating on doing right now! Or if I should just use my credit for the watch
@@audreygroneck8026 The phone comes with the Watch
This credit you get (I also got it) is financially a loss. At the end you just lose and that it expires after 1 year does not help at all.
@@therealmarv Not really I got that credit when I bought the Pixel 7 Pro and used it towards the Pixel 8 Pro with the trade in value.
@@EchoGuzman so what do you pay net you think after all (and selling the watch?). That's what you pay for a brighter screen (=loss or gain depending how you value that). Beside that there is nothing significant better.
The upgrade on live transcribe comes from bring able to speak 2 languages woth out stoping, for me huge plus im cuban sobi speak alot of Spanglish especially when voice texting now i dont have to pause it will pick up english to spanish and back to English etc.
That's true! But I feel like that's SUPER niche feature to use. However, still really cool!
Don’t they already have that on the 6/7?
@@MatthewMoniz not in Florida especially Miami , Spanglish is spoken almost everywhere
@@hhhmmmmmmmm you have to stop for a few seconds to detect different languages, now you can just start speaking English to Spanish with no pauses and it pics up every everything I hated because I would talk to my wife some words English and then I would say hey mi amor how is your day , and if I didn't pause it would go haywire
@@mrdadecounty3056 ooh, I need that. So that G3 or a software update?
Thanks for the review! I think I'll purchase a Pixel 7 Pro.
I hate flat phones!
You're welcome! Really? Edged phones suckkkk haha
I personally don't use curved phones ONLY because I'm a klutz and it's a learning curve ( no pun intended) 😭❤️ But nothing wrong if you like curved! The pixel 7 pro camera blew me away. So unless you absolutely need the latest features at all times, nothing wrong with waiting to upgrade ❤
I’m looking to buy either the pixel 8 or 7 pro because the prices there aren’t as high as the 8 pro. Which do u think I should go for. I’m more swayed to going toward the pixel 8 for the 7 years of updates and the brighter screen but the 7 pro is larger, cheaper.
All I know is my 7 Pro worked great for PUBG, but the game plays terribly on my 8 Pro. I also can't get my primary credit to work on Tap to Pay, and I cannot open settings for the Play Store app. Something's off with my 8 Pro.
❣️ Thank you, Matthew! 🤠❣️
You're welcome!
I will keep my 7 pro, I will wait for 9 pro
thank you, grerat review, appreciate the attention to the fine details between the two models

New camera modules depends on who reviews the phone
How many os update will get for Pixel 7 pro?
Until android 15 and that's it.
It's a pity they went for UFS 3.1 instead of the 4.0. Will wait another year...
Your totally right...4.0 storage would help the battery so much I read that it's 40% more battery efficient than 3.0 storage that's a bummer to use the old storage

This is such a rushed review, not enough time looking in to key features. As a quick summary that might not have unrooted quite a few differences it is decent and I do appreciate the upload and effort.
Excellent comparison. Part of me wants to get ab iPhone because I've never had one, but seeing this video makes me want the Pixel 8 Pro.
Glad I could help!
The 8 pro has been excellent coming from iPhone 14 pm.
I’ve had my XS for 5 years so the extra money for 7 years instead of 3 was enough for me to pay it👌🏼
Wish they would get rid of that optical fp sensor 🙄
I'm so impressed with the Google Pixel phones, if I had any complaints it would be the on /off ( shut down) button is near the volume buttons.
I: just wished they moved it to the other side of the phone. 👍😁
The best feature for me
"I find the speakers on the 7 pro to sound better compared to the newer one."
*Hears comparison...
Me: bro um...you really don't hear how tinny the 7 pro is compared to the 8 pro? Louder don't always equate to being better.
Neither one was moving. I want to hear a comparison between the iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy series speakers
The two primary camera features need to be sent to the cloud as the Pixel 8 is currently unable to cope with that processing. This is one area where the performance is restrictive. I suspect if Apple had "Video Boost," then that could easily be done on-device. So, anyone saying they do not need the power who may like these cloud features, the Tensor 3 remains a hindrance.
Well, we don't know how resource intensive these features are, it could even be that the iPhone with it's shiny new A17 Pro may not be able to process these features on device
I was going to do iphone. But I am going to upgrade to the 8 Pro from the 7
