  • Coming in at number one as our best pouring medium for acrylic paint is the Golden Color Pouring Medium Gloss. We go into detail on why this paint beast out contenders like Liquitex Professional Pouring Medium and Golden GAC 800.
    Just a hint, it was because it was slightly cheaper than the other two. All three are amazing pouring mediums but cost gives the Pouring Medium gloss a step on up it's closest competitors.
    The battle between Golden Pouring Medium vs Gac 800 vs Liquitex Pouring Mediums was as close as they come being separated by .2 points (4.5 vs 4.3 out of 5).

    Can this mixture work on ceramic tiles?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. They need to be completely clean and may need a quick scuff with sand paper if they are really shinny.

    Thank you for the best evaluation of Golden’s pouring medium, I love it. The finished painting feels like leather, I appreciate finding out the cost ratio. Have you tried us ing Flotrol with it for cells? I have been trying other mixes but I am going back to Golden glossy. Thanks again. Anns_Art83

      I have. Any mixture of floetrol to golden unless it is almost all floetrol and only a little golden still doesn't produce many cells.

    Where did you find a website that you could look at color palettes?
    That is fascinating with the silicone from the previous pour? I have had trouble with forgetting to clean a pice before I throw down a resin topcoat. I hadn’t considered what it would do to a re-pour!

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 4 lety +1

      I just typed "color palette generator". I also use the free color mixing chart from drawandpaintforfun.com as a reference.

    Hi Davide, I have another question. How long do you have to wait for your painting to cure before you Resin it, or seal it?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 2 lety +1

      At least two weeks for small paintings. A bit longer for large ones. That is probably a tad bit of overkill but I don't want to ruin the really big ones if a few extra days will help.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 2 lety

      I might one day. Problem is most of my viewers are looking for the economical options and Golden definitely isn't that.

    Hi! I have a question. What ratio of medium vs paint do you recommand for this medium.
    Some sources says 3 parts medium for 1 part paint, but the consistency is way too liquid for my taste.
    I do understand that it also depends on the paint brand we are using.
    Thanks for your nice work, and sorry for my limited English.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 3 lety +3

      With normal medium body paints I do about 2:1 medium/paint. Sometimes I get closer to 3 but only with really thick more heavy body paints.

    Why was your cup stuck to the painting? Did you just pour the picture and repoured it right away when dry to touch? I thought you had to let it cure? Also does adding floetrol increase the drying time?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 2 lety

      So I have found that almost all pours have a slight tackiness too them when they dry. Most of the time you don't notice but if you put any weight on it (like a cup full of paint) it sticks a tiny bit. Now days I always put a varnish on which doesn't have that same problem plus adds some UV protection.
      Adding floetrol doesn't affect drying time that I have seen. Floetrol by itself dries really fast. It's made to work with house paint which dries pretty fast. We use a bit thicker application in this case that's why it takes 12 - 36 hours to dry depending on how big your painting is (cure is more like 2 - 3 weeks).

    Hi David, I accidentally bought Golden heavy body gel acrylic medium, Can I still use this as my medium? If so how would I use it?

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 2 lety +1

      Nope. That is for relief painting with acrylics. You can use it to thicken paints or as the binding agent for pigments but not for a medium by itself.

    • @LeftBrainedArtist
      @LeftBrainedArtist  Před 3 lety

      You can if you want to add a little more natural cellular action to your paintings. It isn't necessary but it is definitely ok to do so.
