- Why buy worms - Why raise worms? Raising worms for profit. This video explains the benefits from having worm to recycle your kitchen and paper waste to produce the best compost for your plants, and the economic benefits of raising worms. I cover how you can grow the equivalent of a steer a year in a 8 by 24 foot plot of land, and discuss the products you can obtain from those worms beds. I cover why worms are great for the garden too!

I made one from an old bathtub that came in with scrap metal that I sell when I have a trailer that is full. If it's successful I will never throw bathtubs away.
You're right about that worm compost doesn't burn op plants. I once had a bucket I forgot and when I walked by it weeks later it was full with tomato plants. Apparently I had thrown rotten tomatoes in the worm bins.
WOW WOW WOW..So glad I found you...I have 1/4 acre and grow an amazing amt of food...I have raised beds, fruit trees, strawberries, blueberries, elderberries, black and red raspberries..goose berries..I cover my raised beds with plain cardboard, dry grass and leaves ,brings alot of worms and my veggies always grow well with excellent yields..totally organic, no miracle grow or pesticides, never have a problem with bad bugs , use marigolds only. Can't wait to make worm bins next...Just love you Greg...what an amazing guy !🤗💕
Thank you Paula!!! Sound like you are you are at the top!!!
My grandfather farmed works for at least 30 maybe 50 years. :).
He had about 50 large long beds. Shipped them every week. He picked thousands by hand each day.
Wow, I'm amazed at the power of this guys personality and the way he explains things. I'm not exactly sure why youtube recommended this video, maybe cause I have pet fish? but this seems so awesome that I now wanna start a small scale worm bed. Keep up the awesome content because you definitely have a new subscriber. Greetings from Mexico.
I do have aquaponics systems - Thanks for the great words!
He’s awesome
My fish ale loved fresh worms I ( long ago) had Oscars both them and my fancy tail rescue goldfish that was about the same size growing with them when I rehomed them they were all at least nine inches. They would all come up and eat the worms right out of my hand.
Even the ones I had before that would. Hand feeding them crawfish or live fish was a little more difficult. Bringing the worms into the bright light with stun them and make them easier to hang for the fish.
It's a neat little thing and people always get a kick out of it when they come to visit you and you show them your trained fish
Greg I appreciate you. I run a large 100% organic hemp grow on 170 acres in South Texas. After getting the grow up and running I took a look around and decided I would like to start my own soil building program with a worm farm front and center. My dad lives in Whitwell, TN, so maybe I can come for a visit soon. Looking forward to watching more of you and will be ordering some worms in the near future. Thanks!
So glad I found your channel. I have an interest in raising worms for the garden. I have listen to others about worms BUT, they were more interested talking about the scientific studies on worms than the How To. Why I am thankful in finding your channel. I'm interested in finding out more about worms, how to build a green house, gardens, etc. I will be going back to watch your other videos! THANK YOU! Oh, I started this life style about 3 years ago and I am 73. LOL! Never to late to find what you love!!
I hope you are still doing well. I am moving to north east Arizona.
Thanks for all your great suggestions
I JUST FOUND DIAMOND and I saw you and I live in the country and I decode what the Government does through Gematria and they have been shutting me and my friends down and I am so happy I found you! Much Love Brother! Thank You for ALL YOU DO! .
Thanks Greg for the knowledge you have given me on this video. I have been wanting to build me some worm beds and raise worms, but you have been the first person I've seen that really tells the truth on what to feed and not to feed the worms. God bless you and your family. Mike Brady
I have seen and done much with my life. This is why I can respect doing something that makes this world a better place for all. Thank you for your time and sharing. All ways informative.
Greg I appreciate you so much man.
I’ve been interested in aquaponics and microgreens for a few years. Finally got something started this year, living room is a micro farm now! And not long after I started I found your channel. What a blessing. You’re awesome sir!
Thank you Anthony!
i'm new to worm farming i gotta little 3 bucket system with about 500 worms in it right now and i plan on having a big system like you have. i've learned a lot from your videos and thank you for that
When I decide to raise worms I will buy the first batch from you.
Great video. Thank you for mentioning how important is it to compost and not throw away your kitchen scraps
I just hit the subscribe button and the notification button! I've looked at a lot of worming videos and I must admit your are VERY informative! I like how you cover all the thing that can and do go wrong. I've been thinking about worm farming for a number of years now and I think now is the time! Keep it up and God bless!
Thanks for tagging me this video. We both have basically the same thinking of growing your own food. It's true we can never tell if crises will arise then no one will get hunger unless you are lazy.
Dude, I'm going to start growing worms. Thank you. Your information is great and the presentation is perfect. So many garden channels give me a head ache 3 minutes in and I just keep clicking. Yours I can watch
I love your enthusiasm. Great video, sir!
You make perfect sense - keep up the great work Greg!

I'm going to start my worm farm with a commercial worm bin. After that I plan on making my own. I belong to a garden club and I'm sure I can talk many into starting their own worm bins too. I'm sorry I didn't see this video sooner. I would not have ordered my worms from someone else. From now on I will order from you and I will tell my friends about you too. Thank you for all the good information about worms and how to take care of them.
Gregg, I bought Some of your Alabama twisters, Unfortunately I have had à house that burned down and Had to move several times and MAN I NEED WORMS!
I just wanted you to know I enjoy your other channels and you are A pretty awesome person,I don't know how you do everything that you do! Keep it up
My dad used to say, "I'm a poet and don't know it but my feet show it. They're long fellows. Good video, Greg. Another enthusiastic spokesman for the wonderful worm. That reminds me; better go grab the old veggies in the frig to feed my worms and snails.
Like your poetry!
I'm proud to be a member of the global worming movement.
Right! all we really need is good soil and water and sunshine. Let those little wormies improve that soil!

Cheers ! ✌
Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I have a dibbi box I built & don't use it now, it has alot of chicken fertilizer in it from the chicks that got bigger and I didn't clean it out. I'm going to mix some dirt in & try a worm bed with it now

Great video thank you so much
I love your video's..I have a tiny farm..well am starting one.. we been here about a year...it to small for cows so this can work for me..
Great video brother.
Excellant video. Great idea to make money. And a couple videos gave me insight I never possessed before. And I had a bait and tackle store. We would get flats of 500 worms. Sometimes 6 flats.
I am going to start raising worms!
Awesome video! ... Awesome information! ... Awesome American! ...thank you!
Awesomeness. I really need to do this.
Then just do it! ;-)
You look like Jerry Cantrell in 20 years. Lol, love your channel.
Love it
Thanks will be building a few containers , will order some worms from you
Amazing!
LOVE your videos!! You have such a great personality, and are a wealth of helpful information! I would LOVE to see a video on how to build those raised beds for your worms so I can do them, too. Since you can't use pressure treated lumber, do you think it'd help them last longer if you applied water sealer to the outside, and pond liner on the inside? Just trying to figure this out.
Anyone with a aquaponics setup using bass or any predator fish with the space to do large worm farm should. Worms to feed fish, fish feed the plants. Plant scraps feed the worms, and the compost created can be used for any garden beds. Almost closed loop- Reducing input in the system. That's how I'm setting up. So thank you for the information matey, I'm still researching the worm aspect to save on fish food.
That's where I'm heading. just added catfish and more bluegill. I will however have tilapia too. I do have some gold-fish and even a tank of minnows. I hope to expand my bait business.
@@greengregs I would use tilapia but it is huge fines here in Australia. So bass and perch. Hope barramundi this year
I'm a couple steps into the process. Going to be hard to catch bass and not eat all of em.
@@uglyweirdo1389 That's what I think my issue will be haha.
thanks!
Thanks for all your videos. I look forward to looking at your site. The joy of wormies brings people together. xD
"Global Worming!" lmao i am sooo using that one TY
Great Video. I will buy some worms next week. 👽
Looking good man. Just thought I would check in with you I am basically tour neighbor checking in from Florence Alabama
You are one cool dude. Subscribed. 👍
Thanks for telling the real story on worm farms.
Great video thank you for the knowledge😀 I just subscribed also
I'm thinking about doing it thanks for the video you came pretty highly recommended by Mr Duggar any friend of his is a friend of mine you got a new sub
I look forward to watching more. PS I'd put a steer on the other acre. Someday I'll have my mini ranch.
I have an acre of wood for my worm beds. The other acre include my house, garden, greenhouses, and woodhenge -what ever that's going to be... But I can come pretty close to getting a steer a year on a 224 square foot plot! That said I grew up on a cattle farm.
Genius!
Greg, I appreciate your info. One suggestion if I may. Please just put your camera on a tripod or something. moving the camera so fast can give a person a head ache. Not trying to be a jerk, just want to enjoy your videos more.
Good old fashion worms work well for catching eaten fish here in FL. . Could you show fisherman how to make little personal worm farms for fishing worms ? I bet with that in the title would draw a good number of viewers for sure.
This video is great! I am contemplating a worm farm. I think I would like to try nightcrawlers. I am in Indiana and don't know if my climate is best suited to redworms or nightcrawlers. I look forward to your thoughts on that. I just subscribed. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you.
Red wigglers are super resiliant and hearty. I sell em in the winter to ice fishers and they love em.
They wont breed above about 90 or below about 60 but as long as you dont freeze em or fry em you should be fine.
Great info! Tell Bo and Luke I said hey
Give Daisy a kiss for me. ..
When you talk about waste and shit we throw away and shit like that, I think about plastic. Plastic has been in the news these past few years and it is horrible how things as plastic has affected our lives. But I LOVE plastic. I have learned to do something with plastic that no one has ever thought of. I take plastic wrap, p[lastic milk jugs, [plastic water bottles and I make fishing lures from them. I re-fill my 1 pound LP tanks from a 20 pound tank. I fill my 20 pound tank and re-fill it from my 500 gallon tank then I fire up my one pound tank with a torch tip and cut me a piece of milk jug and I hold it with a pair of needle nose pliers and warm it, (not burn it) but warm it untill the plastic is plyable, then I start forming it with my fingers. I keep turning it above the flame and forming it. I form it into the confuguration that I want or need. I can add more plastic to it, whether it be from a plastic sandwich bag or more from a harder source. I use different colors of plastic and form them together. I can use darker colors of plastic for the eyes, etc. I let it hardened then use tiny eye screw to screw into them and take snap swivels to connect the hooks. I have made and sold lures for saltwater and deep sea fishing using 3 to 4 2 liter pop bottles.
So interesting! Do you have online place to see your lures?
Nice video! Do you have a video how to harvest them? It’s my first time doing this!
Nice worm bed! Do you have a video how to harvest them?

I LOVE YOU BROTHER, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME and MY FRIENDS WILL SUB AND LOVE YOU ALSO!
I originally started to use worms to compost dog waste until I had to it the dogs on a heart worm Meds. I also put kitchen waste and in my worm compost unit. However my system is nowhere as big as your setup!
Ok I am new to this but I just started a tiny worm farm and I just mixed some ground dirt, and some regular gardening soil and some mulch into a tub the. Put my worms in.. I also put some water and food scraps in it .. so I guess that over time the worms will turn that into good soil?
Thanks for producing this informative and inspiring video...I'd love to start a small worm farm in the UK...and will be watching more of your excellent videos. Quick question if i may; would you think i could raise them outdoors in the UK climate (Im located in Shropshire, Midlands UK). I have just 0.5acres of agricultural land but no electricity on site and the worms will be sharing the land with 15 Honeybee Hives. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Neil
Well if it snows you need a big pile of compost or material and could tarp it. When it gets below zero your worms definitely may die if you don't have a big enough pile. But i raise worms in an IBC tote and i think mine died outside, but in the spring or summer i found tons of worms. So maybe they didn't die or hatched from eggs. I put like two feet of added stuff like alfalfa and lawn clippings and then put a tarp over it. I live in Utah, US, so we have months below freezing. Another idea is you could put a IBC tote or pool etc in the ground so it's more insulated by the ground. Or maybe just put material around it and over it for insulation.
I raise worms and give them away. I also use the castings and give my casting away also.
Greg, i’ve been working at worm composting for use in my garden for about two years now. I only have two small bins in my garage. I sometimes have trouble getting enough to feed them because we don’t have a lot of waste. When I’m short on produce waste can I use grass clippings and dried leaves? We had flyers of some type laid thousands of eggs but they’re gone now for the most part. Any ideas on where to supplement warm food would be great
For a worm box would cob work? Or clay? -It could be fired with a bonfire 🔥 which can make a pretty glazing. Then you wouldn’t have to replace your boxes every 2 years. Let the trees grow. The lids would need pneumatic lifts for the weight though.
Found you in the Worm Composting FB page. New subscriber. I do worm videos too! :-)
Awesome! Welcome to my channel! I'll check out yours too!

Just love your videos! I am going to buy some worms from you, but I want to have my beds ready first. I have a bunch of 55 gal drums. You have any pointers on making a worm bed out of a 55 gal drum?
Great video! You got me thinking I need to raise worms.
As a gardener you could make good use of them!
I've been wanting to ask you, MI, about comparing worm compost and traditional compost. Why do both? If someone has limited physical strength, can using only vermicast be sufficient?
@@greengregs Do you make a lot of traditional compost, seeing that you have an abundance of vermicompost to use in gardens? Why or why not. Thank you.
@@texaspatty4697 I'm not the guy but I keep a super lazy compost heap in the back yard to use for bedding.
Half the point of worms is to save money and be lazy, yeah? Another easy and lazy free bedding I do is cram last years leaves in a barrel and hit em with the weed whip.
@@uglyweirdo1389 Thanks for your response. I still am wondering if worm castings are "as good as" traditional compost in a garden. If anyone has used both and compared, let us know.
In my experience, worms ARE easy! And traditional composting is not so much. Thanks!
Great film very inspiring and full of good info, greetings from Lithuania
What about using a black plastic liner to make your boxes last longer?
I had to move so preparing to start over again. At my last residence I had used a large rubbermaid tub and at first it seemed I had little success until I dug into it and my 20 or 30 worms I started with had exploded to many hundreds
So did you take your worms with you?
@@greengregs No, I'm fully having to start from scratch again. It's pretty cold here in winter so thinking by spring I'll be ready to order some new worms
