      @@dragospahontu Small engines are more balanced between performances/consum/maintenance than for example a 2 l. Engine. A 2 l. 115 CV, Golf GTI MK3 is more pleasant to drive than my Pulsar 1.2 115 CV. May be because of its lower weight but in the same way, highway at 120 km/h 350 km of distance, the consum difference is high ( 8,1 l. Golf vs 5.8 Pulsar). The new engines are much more efficient and that's why I like all those engines of 0,9-1,5 l of nowadays.

    How did it do worse acceleration time than the previous 75hp version, given the fact it's exactly the same model and has the same weight. You did 0-100 with a 1.0 75hp polo of the same generation(2017-...), in 13.95 secs if you remember.

    • @nikolidakismanolis2609
      @nikolidakismanolis2609 Před 3 lety +8

      Easy answer on that. I was also confused by that on the early 90s when i was reading every magazine i would found about cars and was keeping records of the performance tests. I could not understand why the performance was never the same between two versions of the exact same model. Even worst, i soon realized that the performance was not the same even when the same specific car was tested by another magazine few weeks later, or even few days later.
      So the answer is that there are factors that differenciates the performance of a car and when it happens all these factors to be either on the positive or the negative side simultanouesly then this makes a huge difference on the performance.
      Here are some of those factors, but not all of them:
      1) Actual power of the car: A car will very rare have the exact horsepower that is given by the manufacturer. The horepower given is an average and the actual engines will deliver a +/- 5% of it depends on small differences and imprefections of the various components of the engine. So an 80 horsepower engine can easily be found anywhere between 77-83 in reality.
      2) Depends on the way the mechanical parts of the car are build, the real power that is delivered on the wheels will not be the same on each car even if their engines has the exact same horsepower. The power delivered on the wheels are always less then the engine's power and how much less it will be depends on the various transmition parts such as gearbox etc.
      3) The road contitions are never gonna be the same. Even if the driver is using a private track or a closed section of road to do the performance tests in as much similar contitions each time, still he has no control over the other weather contitions such as air temperature, wind speed and more. This can make a great difference on the results that can easily make much more difference than just 5 hp would do.
      Now exactly because there are so many different factors that influences the final performance, it is very rare for all of them to be in favor of the one car. Usually they split and share between both under comparison cars so that the strongest one will still be faster, (given that we are talking about at least 10hp difference of course).
      Of course this effect has a limit and even if every single factor is in favor of one car and against the other, still there is a maximum amount of power gap that could be covered. This is why we notice this happening between cars with 5-10-20hp differences, but almost never on bigger differences.
