My Favourite Journal Supplies and Set Up for Journalling

  • This is a look at my entire collection of supplies I use in my personal journals. As I use these bits and pieces I add more every few months or whenever I get new supplies (which is not often) I will immediately take out anything I want to enjoy for myself and put it in with these items so that it is in my sight and I am mindful to use it and enjoy it!
    The rest of my stash, which you can see in my recent craft room tour is regularly visited whenever I am creating a journal or other project and I will just gather supplies per project from each area of my room, excluding this tier on my journal cart as these have been reserved for my personal use 😊
    At the end of the video I will also share my favourite basic supplies for journalling!
    Hope you enjoy and thank you for watching!

    Thanks, Johanna!! This was really helpful in how you pare things down to work in your journal. I have a lot of sorting to do. And I like the plastic wallets that you are using. I am not doing any creative journaling now, but I hope to in the future and this will really help out. Keep 'em coming, girl!! Great video and very helpful. Thanks again!!

    I love the idea of cutting up the pages of scrapbook paper with the phrases and journal cards and stuff ahead of time. I also have packs of paper with stuff like that in it, and whenever I flip through, I've forgotten I have those, never use them, but when I see them I think they'd be great to use. So that is such a good idea. I think I will go through my packs and take those pages out and cut them up so they are ready to go and I see them. Thanks!!! And washi tape is a great weakness of mine too, I love the stuff, but I use it on like every page and love the variety of prints and the variety of stuff you can do with them, like you say (decoration, adding a tip in, taping in a page, taping some ephemera on, etc.)

  • @andreavu1824
    @andreavu1824 Před 7 lety +1

    Sometimes I get overwhelmed with the amount of ephemera you have to journal with, but I remember when I was younger I used to keep similar things but never really knew how to use them; I'm sure that if I had known you before I would've done something like your journaling. I find it hard sometimes now that I'm a mom, but then I remember you are a mom of two and you rock what you do, so... I guess I have no more excuses, haha.

    Thank you for this helpful video! I will be able to organize things a little better now. I like the comments you made about using the pieces of your life. For a long time, I have had too many pieces that I have kept. This type of journaling gives me a way to use those pieces in a creative fashion. You were the first person I found that did this sort of thing on youtube, and you have been a great inspiration! Thank you, Johanna!

    Thanks Johanna for the tip about cutting up the 12x12s. And I'm going to get one of those Selphy printers. It looks like it will print from my tablet too👍 My 10+ year old Canon Pixma is so cumbersome and incompatible in spite of being wifi.

    • @JohannaClough
      @JohannaClough  Před 7 lety +1

      riteasrain it definitely helps me to have them cut smaller! So easy to forget what you have if you don't see it all the time! 100% recommend the canon selphy, the wifi works with never any issues, you can also plug in sd cards and I think a usb stick directly into the printer! Though I have only printed straight from my phone, the ports are there though 😊

  • @dfnorthway
    @dfnorthway Před 7 lety +1

    Hi Johanna! Looks like we have a lot in common. 💕 I have a journaling cart too where I keep the things I want to use in my journal. After years of accumulating too many scrapbooking & paper supplies, I learned the value, as you did, of limiting the supplies I keep on hand because it can be so overwhelming otherwise. Things at one point had become so unmanageable that I put off journaling and didn't get anything done. 😞 The downsizing method has made me a lot more productive, and I enjoy journaling again. 😌 And If I get bored with what's on my cart, I just shop my scrap stash for "new" things and rotate my supplies. And I agree with you 100% on the Canon Selphy. What did I do without it??? Love that thing! Makes printing pics so much easier, and I use Pic Stitch so I can print mini photos too since I journal in travelers notebooks and junk journals. Thanks for sharing your fun video! 😘

    • @JohannaClough
      @JohannaClough  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes!! It truly makes all the difference to limit yourself! And every now and then 'shopping your stash' is fun because you almost forget the gems in there! Totally agree about the photo printer, it's hard to remember ever not having it! I use the app 'picframe' which sounds pretty similar to pic stitch? Love that you can create any size photo within the 6x4. Always so grateful for you support lovely ❤

      Charlotte Bates hi Charlotte,
      For book pages I literally go to second hand stores and get books for 50c to a dollar, even better if they are falling apart and you can just use images out of them. A lot of my cards and scraps are just from scrapbook papers, i go for more vintage looking papers usually but I also have a variety of true vintage pieces which I have been so fortunately gifted from a few wonderful women, and found a few in second hand stores by pure luck! If you can't find any there are a bunch of packs curated by different sellers on etsy which is an easy way to accumulate a nice big variety instantly X
